Here's the thing I don't get. If you want to refuse service to a patient, that's fine and all I guess. But if you do it in direct violation of the company's rules, why shouldn't you be punished? If the ethics of the company I work for bother me, I leave. Why shouldn't someone else do the same? Ordinarily, I don't really support the rights of the company - but I do in this case. It's one thing to discriminate against someone for who or what they are. It's another to do so because of what they do or refuse to do.

Anyone ever watch A&E's Intervention? I saw this episode where they had one for a kid addicted to video games. It was actually kinda sad. He went into rehab. It didn't take.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) Guess I'm wacky, I side with the pharmacists on this one. Especially with a pill THAT controversial. Regular birth control is one thing, but this one I understand why some would NOT want to be a part of it. Call me crazy. Oh, and no need to argue with me on it, I won't change my views on this pill. It's like a Christian Scientist surgeon refusing to perform Open Heart surgery because he doesn't agree with the morality of the operation. Do your job or find a new one.

Cause I always accidentally bump into the people wearing camo at the mall.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2005550473,00.html Seriously, cocaine in the underwear? An addiction to OxyContin? Just leave the mess alone. He's moved to Bahrain and has no intention of returning to California. Let it go. He's a harmless, failed mess. Whatever you think of Michael Jackson, they've tried twice to put him away and failed. This just seems like a witch hunt.

Kap, It's not really about specific timetables for XXX number of troops to leave by a specific date. More like - we want this to have happened by this date. At that point we may move XXX number of troops. The problem is that we don't have a benchmark for success that has been clearly identified. Freedom means what? Victory means what? Our goals in Iraq are nebulous at best, at this point. Our government needs to establish some specific goals and metrics for success. Only when that's been established should be talking about timetables for withdrawal. We haven't identified clearly a step one, let alone a step two or three (drawback of troops, extracting ourselves from the situation)

Yes and yes.

I never would have thought I'd say this but her work on Double Fantasy, Season of Glass, It's Alright and Milk and Honey turned out to be extremely influential with underground and alternative bands. Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, The Breeders all took pieces. Among others. Her work, although inconsistent, is hugely important for New Wave and beyond.

I think that this is a great idea. The politics side of this board has taken over a lot recently, and this may be one way to actually tone down the pissing matches that these boards have become. When these threads actually start becoming more than Uh-Huh! and Nuh-uh! threads again, maybe it'll be all cool to have extra political threads. But here, I'll start something worth talking about ____ George Bush is set to give an important speech tomorrow. A couple things are probably going to happen. He's going to declare mission basically accomplished and he's going to announce plans for a drawdown of forces in Iraq. Both are good for one reason. As much as he says he's doing what's right, he's finally listening to people that are offering a dissenting point of view. That's encouraging. What worries me is that this is purely a political solution. One that "gets us out" without actually fixing the problem. And that will lead to a bigger problem down the road.

Maybe it was Sinister that I was thinking of. I don't remember. Like I said, I'm a more casual fan - but I remember them being too much one way or the other. They just aren't super consistent.

Or replace John LLLLLL Smith

Maybe Mooch could go be Izzo's assistant.

I think the real question is, will this article mark the return of Joementum? Cause I've been missing that lately.

Does anyone else find it ironic that there is now, available in bookstores, "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Being Successful in Teaching?"

QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Wow, good discussion. Thanks, everyone. A few points: 4. Blondie? C'mon, now. They were a construct of Andy Warhol, they didn't last very long, and one of their biggest hits was Debby Harry rapping (and I use that term unbelievably loosely) nonsense. "All they do is eat guitars"? Please. If Blondie's good enough, Yoko oughta join next. And that's not in green.

You mean you didn't like Ripples?

I can go either way for B&S. In one sense, they make important and beautiful music. But they can be an incredible bore as often as they can captivate. So sometimes I have a hard time picking them up. Because even though I'd love to find another Tigermilk, I dread finding another "Arab Strap."

YAS, Soxy, Kap. I completely agree with all of you. Was her fight at times misguided? Yes. Was her demands unreasonable? Maybe. But she fought for what she thought was right. And even though she's annoying and may not know that her 15 minutes is "up." She's still fighting, and you gotta have respect for that.

Sorry, I've got dibs. I'm gonna use it to make popcorn with.

QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is so stupid it makes me sick What a load of crap. I liked Blondie a lot and owned all their albums but do they deserve this before the Ventures, J. Geils Band, The Cars, Turtles, Zombies? One could go on and on. Miles Davis as great as he was has very very little to do with Rock and Roll. Two words: b****es Brew.
