  1. I think he says things wrong but he has a point. Maybe the question should be, "At what point are we winning in Iraq?" Have you ever thought we can't win the war in Iraq because we don't really know who we're fighting now?
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) The fear is that it will affect my family. We have twins on the way. No other children at all. It could affect my family a lot if you look at the celebrations of birthdays and holidays that my family takes part in that she will have no part of. She will be isolating herself which will have an affect on me or not allow my children to have birthday parties or celebrate holidays which I would disaprove of since that is a great part of being a child. I want my children to experience Christmansm Easter, Halloween, and Birthdays. I want my wife to celebrate them with us because I don't want her to isolate herself. What if my child needs a blood transfusion at some point to live? What if my wife does? I don't want her or someone else scaring my children and making them believe the end of the world is near. All of this can affect my family. I am scared for the way it will affect my family and my wife. I am very concerned about both because I want the best for not only my family but also my wife. Do you see what I mean or no? Just writing all of that just made it seem even more cultish. I understand, this has got to be real difficult for you. But what are your options? To protect yourself and your family. If she isolates, what do you do? I wish I could say something to fix your situation dude, I really do. But ideas and words escape me. It's unfortunately something the two of you have to fix together. You either need to come to terms with your wife's religious path or she needs to make sure that her religion doesn't affect the rest of your family's life. Most likely you need a little of both. Can't say I can really help you but if you ever need to vent... I'll listen.
  3. It's funny watching the spin on this. The Republicans say its vindication for a witch hunt. The Democrats say its the Money Laundering charge that really matters to begin with. And Delay's motion to dismiss the money laundering charge said since the money was paid for with a check, its not technically money laundering. The judge basically said that they were full of crap. If that's their defense, maybe the Hammer does have something to worry about.
  4. So, how is this affecting your family? Or are you just unhappy with her spiritual choices? If its the first, you have a right to be concerned. If its the second, it isn't really your business with all due respect. How is she reacting to your concerns? All those things would make a difference to me at least.
  5. Dude, that sucks that you feel you are losing your wife to religion. At the same time, asking her to make a decision between her religion and you would only cause a lot of heartache and pain for the both of you. Have you two talked about your religious beliefs that you share and don't share? How the children would be raised spiritually? Maybe it would be smart to ask her how her beliefs would affect your future children? Tell her that you wouldn't feel it's fair to deny your children the joys of birthdays and Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Tell her that you can't accept refusing medical treatment for your kids like a blood transfusion. But unless you two communicate and share openly your spiritual beliefs with each other, it won't work - I don't think at least. You might find out that what she believes is just strict and not cultish. And she might be open-minded about what you need from your relationship with God too. Make it clear that you're concerned because you're confused about what her new religious path means for them. But talk with her first and see how she's feeling about this and your family first before you fly off the handle and start calling them cultish or whatever. I guess, handle with care is the best advice I can give.
  6. That's a "promo" not a commercial. They all have DJ's, it just seems that only a small portion of the day for most channels are actually hosted. And rarely live.
  7. I drool and snore. Just don't know if I do them both at the same time.
  8. Bart: *crashes through wall in racecar bed* Sorry. Homer: LEARN TO DRIVE!
  9. Ted Leo and The Pharmacists - Shake The Sheets It's been all up in my CD player lately.
  10. Mets signed LoDuca last night I thought.
  11. I knew that Muttley was sending secret messages to my dog. I just knew it.
  12. I think USC wins, but I'd take Texas if they're getting 8 or more points.
  13. I had a ThinkPad that I bought used in 2003. It was 5 years old when I bought it but totally bombproof. I dropped it on cement floors and kept it in a backpack for months with very few problems. Worked great until the RAM burned out this summer.
  14. Until its official... he's still a White Sox.
  15. I have good knees and being 250 pounds is a strain on them at times.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Solid stance - and likely dead on for those who were "brought back". I guess it's just hard for me since I never lost interest.. I did. And I remember thinking that if there had been another strike/lockout a couple years ago, I wouldn't have come back.
  17. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 04:15 AM) If you want me to make predictions like i did for the Sox in the playoffs i will.... we both know how those went! im pretty sure i said we'd lose 1 game? Is that correct Knightni? I'm pretty sure that the Bears wouldn't lose more than one game in the playoffs either.
  18. QUOTE(Soxy @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) Linkage Study finds coffee reduces liver risk Sun Dec 4, 8:53 AM ET WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Coffee and tea may reduce the risk of serious liver damage in people who drink alcohol too much, are overweight, or have too much iron in the blood, researchers reported on Sunday. The study of nearly 10,000 people showed that those who drank more than two cups of coffee or tea per day developed chronic liver disease at half the rate of those who drank less than one cup each day. The study, conducted by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and Social & Scientific Systems, Inc., found that coffee provided no protection to people at risk of liver disease from other causes, such as viral infections. "While it is too soon to encourage patients to increase their coffee and tea intake, the findings of our study potentially offer people at high-risk for developing chronic liver disease a practical way to decrease that risk," said Dr. Constance Ruhl, who helped lead the study. "In addition, we hope the findings will offer guidance to researchers who are studying liver disease progression." Writing in the American Gastroenterological Association journal Gastroenterology, Ruhl and colleagues said caffeine seemed to hold the key. They analyzed the records of 9,849 participants in a government survey whose coffee and tea intake was evaluated and who were followed for about 19 years. Finally, a good explanation why 12 step programs have the best coffee.

    Fav Love Songs

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) That's such a great song. I actually heard it this weekend for the 1st time in a while, and was glad to hear it b/c I kinda forgot about it. The first two Oasis albums were absolutely brilliant. Before they got all coked up and full of themselves. I LOVED Definitely Maybe - it is one of the best rock albums of the 90s with songs like Columbia and Shakermaker and Live Forever. They blatantly ripped off the Beatles and whatever other song they were hearing at the time and really made it their own. I think Coke actually sued Oasis because they ripped off the "I Want To Buy The World a Coke" song in "Shakermaker." Saw Oasis at the Vic February 95, first US tour. There was no encore.
  20. That is a kick ass site. I'm so exploring that more when I get home to my music system. Thanks!
  21. And that wasn't really a political post. A scandal involving the US government paying people in the press to print their work - would qualify as a political discussion. Saying that a terrorist is reported dead is not.
  22. After last night in the bar, I can confirm that it was indeed bear hunting season. I don't hunt. I respect hunting though - just not my thing.
  23. It's a huge issue here in the state by the way. I have a friend who works in Corzine's office and it's been non-stop calls all week about it.
