  1. So you're saying, he was just pandering to the crazies? Even better reason to vote for him.

  3. The best time to get married is when you have the right partner to marry.
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) Actually Perry would have an easy time painting himself as a moderate. Even better, he can speak about his "conversion" when the Dem party "left him" and he switched to the Repulican side of the aisle. Who is more moderate than an ex-Dem now GOP governor. Ah crap, I'm actually beginning to believe he could find himself in the hunt. Til you start throwing back clips of him saying secession of Texas is an option from last summer. How moderate is threatening to create a new civil war?
  5. QUOTE (The Critic @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 08:21 AM) Agreed. They haven't been a punk band for a long time, but that was about the least "punk" thing they could do. I know some people will say "the punk thing to do is to do something that's not seen as punk", but it wasn't even interesting, it was really just lame and flat and typical. If it's that bad with them performing the song along with the actors, I shudder at the thought of a Green Day musical without them playing. Awful. The only semi popular artist that did the punk thing by not doing the punk thing was Jonathan Richman deciding to do love songs. Everyone else just sold out.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 12:03 PM) Come on, he has no choice? How about getting out of Iraq/Afghanistan like he promised he would do? How about reforming Medicare/Medicaid entitlements, revamping welfare, etc. There's a ton of spending he could cut, it's just not a popular thing to do. How many Republican votes you think he would get for revamping Medicare/Medicaid?
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) I recognize that, but he's correct in this case. Taxes are going to rise under Obama's watch. There's not much overstating about that. Short of completely unfunding our operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and eliminating all discretionary spending, or ending Medicare, there really isn't much choice.
  8. QUOTE (Soxy @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) See, I tend to think it's the movies that make it seem like you make a decision right here, right now. I mean, if this was totally sprung on me, I would need time to think. If you have a life and stuff going on in it you need to consider big stuff like that. +1
  9. Many have indeed found the missionary position to be a troubling one.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) Sometimes I wish I could just be gay like Bobby Trendy. Nobody wants that. Not even the gays.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 10:04 AM) Run the other way, why would she need to think about it? Because she might not make rash decisions, because she might be overwhelmed by the idea, because she might have just gotten some really bad personal news that you don't know about it. You put it out there, wait a couple days and give her a call. See what happens. She might surprise you with a great answer. She might ignore you, but you won't know unless you follow up.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 08:41 AM) He was also the last person in the country with the surplus, and he sold off a money losing asset to do it. He is the face of Tea Party conservatism. When every commercial about your man mitch is gonna allege cooking the books, with testimonials from school adminstrators and city and town governments to do it, I don't think he'd even make it to Iowa, frankly.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) I'm sure they happily tolerate budget cuts to their schools to pay for it. Yeah, and police and fire layoffs too.
  14. Gordon Food Service Marketplace GFS Marketplace is all over South Chicago.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Don't worry about it. No one really saids much of anything about them. You can't or you get a lynch mob of SEIU at your front door. I guess people forgot who actually employs union employees. Oh yeah, I know I keep seeing stories on the news of unsuspecting Republicans having their at home family BBQ's ruined by angry purple shirted mobs. It's epidemic!
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) And I am shocked by the negative campaigns against corporations. I don't get it either. Without them, we'd be a third world country. And I am shocked by the negative campaigns against unions. I don't get it either. Without them, we'd be a third world country.
  17. Wite, I don't get this. You said you originally broke up because you were being a dick, but it looks like she wanted this guy she had a crush on and wanted to let you go over that. Why did she actually say that you guys were done the first time? Was it about her crush? Or was it about her issues with you. If the dude she's crushing on didn't come up then, that means that she's toying around with you, IMO. If that's the case, your relationship will probably end and not that well. The question is do you want the bandaid ripped off slowly or quickly? Quickly hurts less, but its a lot harder to just "do it and get it over with."
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) I'd happily trade zero contributions from labor unions for zero corporate contributions. For example, you seem to be a lot angrier about the $70 million coming from labor unions last cycle than you are about the $166 million coming from the Health Care industry alone. One single industry in one cycle more than doubles the total contributions of unions, and you wonder why we think corporate influence is a little more pernicious than union influence? The Chamber of Commerce spent $144.5 million in political activity in 2009, nearly as much as the DNC and RNC COMBINED. http://politics.theatlantic.com/2010/02/th...the_parties.php
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) For political people, it is. Nothing else matters. I think that's honestly the biggest crock of s*** you've ever said here.
  20. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 02:11 PM) That's because Democrats think unions are the best thing eva. Why? They're a huge voting block. Certainly not for any other reason. Wouldn't have anything to do with minimum wages, prevailing wages, 40 hour work weeks, 5 day work weeks or the idea that having a seat at the table when it comes to the direction of your employment matters. It's clearly all votes.
  21. The Senate passed PAYGO this week, which requires expenditures to be paid for within the budget when funding is provided. 40 out of 40 Republican senators voted against this initiative.
  22. Because that's how the law to hold the special election was written when it was voted on a few years ago.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Then how does stuff ever get passed in November/December, between the election date and the swearing-in? I believe the precedent that he is speaking of is unique to Massachussets.
  24. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) Oh, Romer said it. So that means he gets a free pass because his administration is saintly. Yes, exactly.
  25. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 11:09 AM) Yes he did. Actually, he never said that. Christina Romer authored a report as Chair of the President's Council of Economic Advisers. The report forecasted the recession to reach peak unemployment of 9% in 2010. The report said that unemployment would peak in 2009 with a stimulus act at around 8.5% But the forecast did have a very interesting footnote to it. http://www.politifact.org/truth-o-meter/st...ama-promised-s/
