  1. Man, I want them to win this game. But I can't be mad if they lose because the comeback was unreal. Please win, White Sox. Make it one for the ages.
  2. As a lifelong Sox fan, these last two games have been amazing to watch. The only sad thing is that tomorrow's (and the rest of the week's) news is going to be all about Ozzie's mouth, instead of about how great the Sox are playing. And how weak the National League in general is.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 20, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) Anderson came out of the dugout fists-a- flayling, but I just expect that out of BA, Remember, Anderson was the batter -- so he was coming back from first base after his sac fly. Which makes his effort even more commendable. He got an RBI and slugged two Cubs all on the same play. Well done, BA!
  4. Maybe I'm being optimistic, but this has the feeling of a Defining Moment for this team. You can just hear the narrator on the 2006 World Champions' video intoning: "Any doubts about the chemistry and resolve of the 2006 version of the White Sox were removed during a game against the Cubs on a sun-dappled Saturday afternoon in May." Re: suspensions -- There is no way AJ should lose any games. He did absolutely nothing wrong. I understand why he was ejected today, but a suspension? Uh-uh. Anderson, on the other hand, will probably get 3-5 games -- deservedly so, in my opinion. He threw the first punch against Mabry. But I love his attitude. If this gives him the kickstart to turning around his season, it will be worth it. Barrett obviously has issues. He should get at least 10 games. I didn't see anything that Mabry did to deserve a suspension. He seemed to be more in a "break-it-up" posture before Anderson socked him. What a fun day for a Sox fan.
  5. I thought it was pretty funny that they gave Steve Stone the bum's rush to put on a drunken Bernie Mac (and his crappy cell phone connection).
  6. Wow, DJ is doing some serious analyzing here about the Cubbies. He has improved so much over the last few years.
  7. Douple play! Man, is this game going according to script or what?
  8. LET THE LEGEND OF IGUCHI SPREAD THOUGHOUT THE LAND!!!
  9. All right, Freddie. Now let's get the offense going again. Time to put the hammer down.
  10. Grand Slam!!! That's what great teams do baby!!!! Way to go, Gooch!!!
  11. So AJ gets ejected, too? What a joke. I hope his jaw didn't hurt Barrett's hand.
  12. Excellent game, Mark! That's an outstanding start to this series. Let's sweep 'em!
  13. Another great job of hitting by Konerko. Oh, and thank you, Cedeno.
  14. Is it just me or does it seem like the Sox have had an inordinate amount of line-drive outs the last few games? That inning could have been huge if Ramirez doesn't snag those two liners.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ May 19, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) What happened? Can someone please give a description....and can someone please wake this team up. Pierre beat out a check-swing roller up the third base line. Then Hairston bunted and AJ threw the ball right into the ground, skipping it out into right field. Then a sac fly and the Cubs take a 1-0 gift lead. Nice start, Sox.
  16. OK, when was the last White Sox triple play? That was so cool. Let's not waste it by losing the game.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 8, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) It amazes me that more guys with very little chance to pitch in the majors don't make an effort to become knuckleball pitchers. Obviously, its not that easy, but its worth a shot if your career is in the toilet. A decent knuckleballer is invaluable to a pitching staff. They're innings eaters. Honel was throwing knuckle-curves. With all his arm problems, maybe he should try to add a straight knuckler to his reportoire. I agree completely. I remember reading something Bill James wrote a few years ago where he made the point that organizations ought to try to teach the knuckleball to their pitchers who obviously don't have the stuff to reach the big leagues. There's no downside. If they can't learn the knuckler, well, they weren't going to make it anyway. But if there's even an outside chance of success, it's worth it. Who knows? You might stumble upon the next Charlie Hough or Tom Candiotti. Plus, I think it would be a shame if the knuckleballer dies out completely. I think Wakefield is the only surviving member of the species left in the majors right now. It's always fun to watch a knuckleball pitcher work his 70-mph magic.
  18. The Royals obviously suck, but you have to admit they've got some great names: like Runelvys Hernandez, Elmer Dessens, Jimmy Gobble, and the never to be topped Ambiorix Burgos. Man, this is much better than last night.
  19. Thome, can you hear me!?!
  20. Last night's loss was certainly the most agonizing of the season, and our frustration is really apparent in this thread. That 9th inning was a nightmare. Jenks certainly didn't pitch well, but I think that may explained by his overuse so far this season. He's already appeared in 16 of the 29 games, which would put him on pace for 89 appearances for the season. That's waaaaay too many for a closer, especially a young one who has less than a year of big league experience. The other Sox relievers have got to step up so that Ozzie doesn't feel like he has to use Bobby every night. Some may say that Ozzie needs to establish roles for the bullpen, but I think it's difficult to establish roles for these guys when all of them have struggled to get guys out consistently.
  21. WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, that was TOO close! C'mon, put 'em away.
