QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) If I remember correctly, they (dictionary-dot-com) had it as 'sez' but I don't recall whether it was a long or short 'e'. I'd venture to guess 'seize' as the correct pronunciation. If you don't want a guess ... look it up yourself. its "seize"

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 03:32 AM) Well, Contreras had Hernandez in NY and that didn't do much for him. I think it's cool that they were close and all. I just don't see how him not being there can potentially effect Contreras. If Jose flops in 06, it won't be because El Duque wasn't there. I forgot they were together in NY, so you might be more right about it being overrated. I agree El Duque wont cause any problem for Jose being gone. After all, I think Coop has been the best in the majors with his staff.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) Thats also a game in a split season ticket package. Game 2 being sold out is not out of the possibilities. The first three should be very full. I plan on attending all three and I know lots of people going to as many of the first three as they can.

Sports writers predictions are pretty terrible in general at the beginning of the season. Its funny to go back and look how off they are year after year.

Definitely Pods in left and Anderson in center bad jumps+bad arm=bad for CF remember Pods throw home in Game 2 of the world series?

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) I think the whole Contreras/Hernandez friendship thing is overrated. Contreras didn't dominate like he did because of the presence of Hernandez. It was simply a case of a guy realizing his talent. Even Don Cooper has said as much. As far as Uribe goes? I think he's capable of hitting in the 2 slot. He's gonna definitely have to learn to be more selective at that plate. He can't go up there tryin to kill the ball every at-bat. Spring training is gonna be very interesting this year. I dont know that it was overrated, I think Hernandez really helped Contreras and made him feel more comfortable with how he pitched. I think Contreras certainly will continue to dominate without Hernandez, but El Duque was a great guy to have on a team, in the clubhouse, and in the big game situations. I think Uribe can hit in the #2 spot with some work, although I think Tad is a great #2 hitter and should be #2,

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) It is wierd how Neyer just wrote how the Twins and Indians got better and the White Sox did not over the off season. Now this article gives the White Sox get an A while the Indians get a C and the Twins get a D. How can that be? Maybe, just maybe, Neyer is a moron. Donovan's SI article is better than Neyer's Twins got better bull. How could you not think the White Sox improved?

shouldnt we only regress towards the mean if we kept the same talent? I think we upgraded to no regression

QUOTE(heirdog @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Uribe will explode in 2006! I think he broke out with his defense and decent hitting in the post season but this will be the year he puts it all together. I think this is going to be a big year for Uribe, he looks so good sometimes
-
I thought gooch did a great job in the two hole. He was good behind scotty and a very productive hitter. Im not sure that Uribe is going to be a better 2 hitter.

QUOTE(Beltin'Bill @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) Who are these Cubs anyway? Do they play baseball? You say they are from Chicago? I thought the baseball team from Chicago was the World Champion White Sox, right? Seriously, someone mentioned the Cubs becoming a total joke if the Sox have another good season. Since when were they not a joke? They have the best starting pitching in baseball. In fact, they have 4 #1 pitchers. No other team has that.

White Sox and Ohio State fan, you're a good man I found my 2005 excel sheet so if someone has the 2006 schedule in any text document (Word, notepad...) I could transfer it to excel. Otherwise, I found that WMVP had the 2005 version so hopefully theyll put one out in 2006.
