  1. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 08:25 AM) That's just not true. Hall had a .466 OPS last season while Schneider was .662. Also, Hall ripped up his shoulder while Schneider has a strong defensive reputation. Church has a career .810 OPS in 4 major league seasons and can play all the OF spots. Saying he's a 4th OF is...well I don't know what team that's on. The Sox have no equivalent players at C and OF in their organization (Church = cheap, .800 OPS OF in the major leagues, Schneider = C that can throw someone out and has an OBP over .326 (as not good as Schneider may be, the Sox have no one like him). It's sad, but if the Mets wanted help at those positions, the Sox could not beat this deal. The reason the trade is horrible is because Milledge is probably already as good a hitter as Church, he's only 22 so he's definitely going to get better, AND most people think he's going to get A LOT better, AND he's not getting paid . So the Mets got older and probably worse over the next couple of years in the OF and then they get a defensive catcher who's making $4 million a year. Bad bad trade. On the other hand, you're right... if the Mets were specifically looking for that combo of players, the Sox don't have it, which is sad for us.

The SI story is different because it mentions a option year... I think Bruuuce is getting scooped (or maybe I hope).

Offman said it again - 4 years 50 million. Not backing down.
  4. Even if it is the same as last year's team - THEY WON 90 GAMES!!!! To rank them 14th is like they finished around .500 last year...
  5. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) Personally, I'd rather have the ALCS clincher. Game 2 of the ALCS, while the ending was great, was kind of agonizing. Especially watching the 900 replays of the AJ play and listening to Joe Buck's constant babbling about it. Oh well. Still a must buy. ugggh... I'd much rather have the clincher too... it's the only one I forgot to record.
  6. Anybody else think that looks like ALCS Game 2, not Game 5 on the cover?
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Some Jackass cub fan just called into the score and how Mark Buerhle doesnt have pride in his country. That even though Prior and Wood are hurt they would pitch for their country. What was great was Chris Rongii (sp?) saying that someone called in from his car but he couldn't say on the air who it was, but the guy was furious at the jackass Cub fan. He made it pretty clear that it was Buehrle who had just been on the show like ten minutes earlier. Pretty funny.
