  1. Interesting tidbit... Check out Jackson's game log. He had a start against the Rockies on April 27th where he gave up 10 earned in 2 1/3. His next start was May 2 vs Cubs and he gave up 8 earned in 4. That's 18 earned in 6 1/3 innings. His ERA before those two starts was 3.81. His ERA since has been 4.24.
  2. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) Viciedo pulled. Yeah - and kind of early.
  3. Buster_ESPN Heard this: With two trades in the books today, the Yankees are working on another -- presumably somebody who can play 3B. #trades
  4. Viciedo out. Yikes? A little early for a defensive replacement, no?
  5. SI_JonHeyman if jose bautista is going, it's a big finale. my guess: giants
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) That K/BB ratio won't give Lucas much chance of a 2nd start. Yikes. But somehow he's getting the job done. Some groundballs and a big lucky flyball out to CF.
  7. Harrell's start tonight might end up better than Oswalt's first start as a Phillie: 6 IP 4 ER Baseball is awesome.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) Jesus. They have a 35 man roster exemption? LOL
  9. SI_JonHeyman source in TOR: #yankees on the verge of a trade for #indians OF austin kearns, removed from tonight's game for pinch runner.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) Dunn got pulled from Nats game, but the game is out of hand I really hope Viciedo stays if we get Dunn.
  11. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) Austin Kearns wouldn't be a Wow kind of player... more like an ewww Right. Thus the "Wow?" and the "LOL" !!
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) Hmm...this sure sounds like what Kenny was "frustrated" about earlier today... Rizzo spent 7 years with the D-Backs. That raises all KINDS of ethical questions and both the Nats ownership and KW should be interested in how it all went down. Who's interest is Rizzo working in?
  13. Buster_ESPN Heard this:Other teams say that in recent weeks, the Nationals had told other teams that a key piece to anyone who wanted Adam (more)#trades 4 minutes ago via web Dunn was Edwin Jackson. This caused a number of teams to try to pry Jackson away from the D-Backs, with the White Sox (more)#trades 3 minutes ago via web finally landing Jackson today--and as of 7 p.m. Eastern, the Nats are indicating they're not sure if they want Jackson anymore.(more)#trades 2 minutes ago via web So as of tonight, teams are pulling their hair out over the Nats' machinations. We'll see if the White Sox can finish a Dunn deal.#trades
  14. I don't think he's afraid of the bat... I just don't think he can throw strikes. He walked a lot of guys in the minors too.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) Don't know if it was stated on here, but the Myers stuff was supposedly BS. Yeah, I heard Cowley say that. Still wonder why KW would have hesitated on Jackson though unless there was another pitcher to get - or unless he thought he needed Hudson for the other deal. The Myers/Berkman thing just kind of seems to fit nicely - doesn't mean it wasn't BS though.
  16. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 06:07 PM) Berkman was able to decide where he wanted to go. He might not have wanted to go to us. Good point. Makes me wonder what was going on this morning. Could be Berkman/Myers was a real thing that was shot down by Berkman. Really crazy and interesting stuff we might never find out. The fact that the Berkman deal went down shortly after Jackson leads me to believe they were somehow intertwined.
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 06:03 PM) Yankees got Astros to send money back and won't be sending any good prospects. Berkman could have been had for NOTHING. Kenny better be working on something BIG. Olney: Heard this: The Astros are picking up a lot of the money owed to Lance Berkman in their agreement with the Yankees, and the NYY#trades Yankees won't be giving up any major prospects. That stings. You've got to wonder how that happens when the Nats are asking for multiple prospects. Unless it turns out they're not major Yanks prospects but still equivalent or better than what Sox could give up.
  18. jay_jaffe: "Like Haren, Edwin Jackson's been hurt by AZ defense/bad luck. .321 BABIP. 4.24 SIERA. " So not only is he in a hitter's park, but it's safe to say AZ's defense is much worse than Sox.
  19. Do that, but than follow it up by also getting an innings eater for the fifth spot. If you can get Lilly for cheap and adjust the rotation so he makes more than half his starts on the road, do that.
  20. If you've never heard anyone call it ComiNskey I have a hard time believing you've ever been there. A ton of die hard Sox fans, even season ticket holders, mistakenly call it ComiNskey.
  21. QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) Work on driving the ball up the middle and opposite way. Easiest way to make sure you keep your head still. Oh. One other thing. Watch the ball. Sounds silly but it's true, and sometimes you need to remind yourself. You have to watch the ball all the way to the bat. You should see the ball come off your bat when you hit it. Whenever I'm pitching to my son and he starts pulling his head off, I tell him to watch the ball and I give him hammer and nail imagery. Bat=hammer. Ball=nail. It works every time. If this is hard to do, then like I said above, send everything opposite way. Almost impossible to pull your head off.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) I don't know why, but when I go up to hit, I usually end up pulling my head off the ball. But if I'm swinging in any other situation, I can keep my head still. I think it's a mental thing. This started about 5 years ago. Before that, I had really good hitting mechanics. Work on driving the ball up the middle and opposite way. Easiest way to make sure you keep your head still.
  23. QUOTE (since56 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 06:39 PM) If the man's game is speed then any leg injury needs to be taken seriuosly How do you guys know it was an ankle and not a knee? Is there a better report somewhere?
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) No, actually, AJ has been described as not being comfortable with all the talk of him and Damon being friends, and actually stated "I don't know where he'll sign, I just know it isn't going to be here." Those are quite different things. That was after it was known the Sox were out of the running. There was nothing wrong with what Peavy said.
