  1. That's because we're all usually watching Hawk and Stone. Sox broadcasts could have the stats replaced with "W2W" and "grinder %"
  2. After watching Belisario last night, his mid-90s sinker would make him a good candidate for closer.
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 03:56 PM) Haha, you know that man was large when johndyce has to come out of retirement to post. I've been posting a little bit here and there recently due to being bored at work. But it's pretty cool that I am member #32! Registered back in high school 12 years ago watching the Magglio/Valentin/Caballo sox.
  4. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 03:59 PM) My son and I were watching the game, and he asked who was making all that noise. I told him to look at the fat ass in the Blackhawks jersey right behind homeplate. Guy was a pain in the ass. Tool? That guy was living as large as living large can get! Big hawks jersey, wife next to him (and not pissed about the yelling), slamming beers, sitting front row behind home plate. We could only hope to live that large some day.
  5. Sox have shown the ability to battle back from being down lately. Sox will win.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 06:24 PM) This time last year Paul Konerko was hitting just over .230 with a sub-.700 OPS. You're thinking of 2012. Paul Konerko was next to useless in 2013. True. The last couple of years have been a complete blur of uselessness.
  7. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 06:20 PM) Nothing new with Beckham, get him to chase a breaking ball and then just blow him away with the fastball, he can't compete with it. You guys remember this time last year PK was putting up more MVP numbers? Man it would be nice to have some of that back this year. A fully functional PK and this is a LOADED lineup.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) Good thing Gordon carried over his hot streak from the minors Yeah but look at his face and attitude. "Stud" written all over him.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 06:15 PM) Beckham's swing looks horrible. Told you guys. Beckham playing now means the season is over.
  10. Don't get me wrong, we will rebound. Might even get above .500 for some stretches of time. All I'm saying is that if we're below .500 at Jul 31 there will and SHOULD BE a firesale. hell, as a white sox fan, how can any of you not endorse a firesale with this team? The team as it is built is not a team that can consistently take us into the playoffs let alone ever reach another world series.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) I'm torn on Kenny. What type of GM would thrive in this environment where fans never come out? Yeah it's gotta be rough. Like I said about the fan market--people in Chicago don't switch teams. The city isn't going to be a white sox team if they are good for five years. It would take a LONG time.
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) I agree with this and don't see it as a bad thing. Williams needs to go too. Completely agree. Someone made the point that he has been playing with house money since 05 and its completely true. You give this guy an open checkbook and this is the s*** that he produces? He has basically traded away the farm for a team that has nowhere to go but down. Beckham is the only player on the team with any true potential and that has demonstrated success. Sale is also promising. That's it. That's what we have to look forward to. At least ticket prices should fall when they sell out
  13. And I'm not talking Chris FireSale Think about it. Peavy aint coming back to being a good pitcher. The offense has shown the same problems they have had since I can remember (I am 25) that really only were eliminated briefly for the 2005 season: a lack of fundamentals (e.g. bunting, moving batters over), too much emphasis on the home run, and just a general inability to get guys on base with singles (we get walks but NOBODY in the middle of the order except pauly has shown the ability to just get on base). The defense obviously sucks with two of the most important defensive positions (CF and 3B) being extremely shotty in the first two weeks of the season. Pitching wise, enough has been said about the bullpen, and without Peavy, we have no dominant pitcher, and a bunch of guys that can keep a game close but nobody who can put the team on their shoulders and dominate for 3-4 starts at a time. So what we're stuck with is a middle of the road team, aging, with a MASSIVE payroll. Hell the Indians and Royals' payrolls combined don't even come close to the Sox. Sox fans will never fill up the stadium unless the team is in first place in the MLB and in the playoffs. They just don't have the income. This is the south side--a lot of people are struggling to make it. It's not like the cubs with a bunch of college kids looking to party with mom and dad's money every day during the summer. What will happen? Reinsdorf is going to get fed up with losing money and playing guys like Dunn and Peavy top money not to pay and not to put asses in the seats. So I predict by the end of the year we say goodbye to mulitple players who are doing well, including Dunn and including Peavy (although no team in their right mind would take him without the sox giving them a ton of cash). This will be a rebuilding year boys. Get ready for it. Remember in the mid 90s when they traded away blackjack and the rest of the team? it's coming again.
  14. When are you all going to wake up and smell the coffee. Jake Peavy will pitch again this season, but it won't last, and he will NEVER be the Cy Young winner or anything even close to a front-of-the-rotation starter. He will be at best a 4 or 5. His fastball doesn't even pop anymore, and he was always a pitcher who relied on his "stuff" versus a guy like Buehrle who can get by without the greatest stuff. Let's just not plan on having him be a meaningful part of this team anymore, ok?
