That is good. I think he can do it from what I have read, definitely more of a CF than Reed was. I too have heard Sweeney has a very sweet stroke. I just hope we keep the both of them, we gotta be ready to replace Magglio next year, we may have a one or two year stopgap measure, but I want one of these two in the lineup in 2 years. I do not hold much hope for Borchard.

I thought a scout that had talked to Rex mentioned he thought Anderson might not be a CF in the majors. Not sure what the reasoning was, maybe it was lack of outright speed or something??
-
Too funny, the Trib are a bunch of dolts.
-
You have the wrong Rupe, you must be talking Ryan Rupe, ex Devil Ray pitcher. Josh Rupe is pitching very well in the Texas org, now in High A ball I believe.

Great Falls gets clobbered despite 16 hits of their own, Collaro with another good day. Suarez and the pen stink it up. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=16820

McCarthy is tough. We better hang onto him. Fields and Sweeney lead offense. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=11834

Kanny wins 3-2 behind Whisler, Lopez and Wasserman. Young and Daigle pace offense http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=10896

We are -13 as a franchise Charlotte -3 Birm +5 W-S -7 Kanny +6 GFs -3 Bristol -11

I think you are correct about his Soph year.
-
We are somewhere between 10-15 games under .500 on the season in the minors I believe, I keep track mentally, whenever we have two 4-2 days in a row, we screw it up with a 1-5 day.

Dizard had an ailing father, as well as arm problems in his USC career. I believe he was thought of as a great recruit when they landed him.
-
I thought he relieved more often than not in college, he started some last year in GFs, but I bet the Sox have him projected as a LH reliever.
-
I scan them quick, but the link was so short I missed it. But my box score shows Dizard throwing the two innings yours did not.
-
Article from Bristol paper, about our knuckleballer, sounds like he can throw it pretty well. http://www.tricities.com/servlet/Satellite...=Variables.path

Not typical box for W-S, out of the W-S newspaper, with article. Ray went 7 4-hit innings, Dizard threw 2 hitless innings of relief with 2 Ks. Becker led the offense I believe. http://www.journalnow.com/servlet/Satellit...s=1037645509208

Young with his 18th dinger I think, among his 3 hits, Bounds and Haggerty contribute, Nanita still out of lineup. Haigwood with 10th win in nice outing, great relief by Fabio and Wasserman. 4-2 win for Kanny http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=10895 W-S won 6-2, no box yet. Birmingham postponed, so to the nudie bars for Rex I would guess. Hah.

My contact in Birmingham is very pleased with McNichol, I was concerned with his 15 day suspension, normally means drugs or roids. I did not know he had TJ surgery, that is great that he has come back this well already. I think he and Smith deserve a fair shot at AAA and see if they can help big club next year. I hope we keep him in the org.
-
Last time he played was 19th I think. Anyone know what happened, I tried looking on web site and roster, no notice that he went on DL. ??
-
Maybe Kristy McNichol is his relative :-)
-
Nice OBP and seems to have nice speed.

He was playing for Bangor Lumberjacks in Independent league, here are his stats. Not sure they will show up well BATTERS AVG G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI SH SF HP BB IB SO SB CS DP SLG OBP 1B 2B 3B SS OF C E *Whitesides, Jake .307 48 189 31 58 99 15 4 6 30 2 1 1 26 0 32 15 7 3 .524 .392 0 0 0 0 48 0 6

Maybe they screwed up boxscore, maybe he was loaned to us? Maybe we traded for him?

Haeger goes 5 strong, loses it in 6th, Bristol loses big. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=17353 W-S wins 3-2, glad to see Espinal back in rotation, nice relief too, Brice with big game, and Fields keep contributing with a hit and a walk. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=11827 Barons tied 1-1 in 7th Charlotte wins 5-1, Diaz with a great start to outduel Ginter. Valdez and Nelson pace the offense, they are a great 1-2 punch at top of lineup. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=14504 Bounds, Gray and Schnurstein with help from a new player named Jake Whitesides?? lead the Kanny team to an 8-5 win. Flores with ok outing, great 3 innings of no-hit relief from Hernandez and Wasserman with another save. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=10894

Oldsocks, honestly, I wanted to dump Borchard rather than Reed, but Garcia is everything he was cracked up to be. I wish KW would be a little less aggressive with the prospects, but OF was one position we are well stocked on. I really like Young, Andersona and Sweeney, so at least he traded from a stocked position this time.
-
We gave up a lot of prospects after 1959, Veeck really messed up. We lost Earl Battey, Callison, Norm Cash, Don Mincher and a couple others. Then 2 or 3 years later, we had 3 minor league pitchers to protect and only 2 spots left, we protected Bruce Howard and Dave DeBusschere and left Denny McLain to be picked up by Tigers. Of course, at time it was probably correct decision, but no one expected DeBusschere to go to NBA fulltime. The worst deal in history of Sox for me tho, was trading Gossage and Forster for one year rental Richie Zisk, even tho Zisk had a great year. Close behind was Doug Drabek for Roy Smalley. Ouch.
