Homer for Morse the only run, was 1-1 after 7 and Bittner in relief gave up some runs to take the loss. McWhirter started.
-
Parrish did start in AA and AAA for us, did ok. nothing to write home about. Both he and Gload are AAA players, Parrish could make it since LHs mature late. Not a loss.
-
Tony Sipp, last years 33rd rounder, a LHP and OF did not sign and went to Mississippi Gulf Coast JC and is the 24th rated JC player in this years draft. He was only one of ours in top 50. Others eligible. C Paul Keck, 19th rounder went to Sacramento, Cal JC LHP Boone Logan, last years 20th rounder, went to Temple, Tex JC LHP David Beasley, last years 23rd rounder, went to Broward, Fl JC LHP Jay Marshall, last years 25th rounder, went to Jefferson, Mo JC and was one we wanted and compared to Buehrle, who happened to go to same JC.

Correct, Almonte is struggling, Arnie has been better of late, bet his May ERA is decent. Chisoxfn, I doubt Pacheco throws in mid 90's, guess Rex would know for sure, anyway, whenever they say one of our prospects throws in mid-90s they never do when they arrive :-) I would bet Pacheco is low 90s, but he has been very impressive, last year when we made all those vets for prospects trades, I gave him the least chance to ever make it (besides Adkins). He is making a liar out of me.
-
Hummel too low. Brumbaugh cannot play CF, not even in his dreams, saw him in Spring Training and was not impressed, especially with his speed, he has none.
-
Appears Sox did not sign any of the half dozen or so draft and follows we had available. Not a good sign going into the draft, assuming we are going very cheap this year. At least 2 of the draft and follows were among the top 100 Junior College players eligible for this draft.
-
Pacheco does NOT throw in the upper 90s. This list BA has is the top 12 hottest prospects for all 30 teams, so not likely to have more than one individual on it at one time, to have one on it and 1 on the honorable mention list if very good. Most weeks we have no one on it.

Good list, pretty accurate, not so sure about Malone anymore. Here is a few I would add, most of them low A ball or rookie league, so a ways to go. Ryan Meaux a LH reliever at Win-Sal. CF Mike Spidale, 2B Ruddy Yan, 3B John Lackaff, SS Mike Morse. Rick Hummel, closer for Kannapolis. Other relievers at Kannapolis Julio Castro, Ryan Rupe and Todd Deininger. Starters at Kannapolis, Brian Miller and BJ Lamura. 3B Ed Varela. SS Andy Gonzalez. Expected to start at Bristol: Daniel Haigwood, Ryan Rodrigues, Dario Mota and Brandon McCarthy. 1Bman Brandon Bounds.

No on Brumbaugh, he should not take up a 40-man roster spot, I saw 1 week of spring training and he was not much of a hitter or outfielder, not if we have to cut someone off roster for him. He is a AAA or AAAA player and thats too bad, but the way it is.

Will be interesting to see that, Baseball America Prospect Notebook has the top 30, I listed them months ago for people on World Crossing. I will be interested to see how your list compares.

A Week In Review (May 14-20 ): Charlotte Knights
MnSoxFan replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Charlotte going downhill fast. Very disappointing. Barons have been on a roll, Backman doing some kind of job with only a decent pitching staff (good pen) and nothing for everyday players. Winston-Salem playing well too, best everyday players in system with Yan, Reed and Spidale (and Lackaff if he was not hurt). Independent pickup, Becker, hitting well. Decent pitching too, addition of Stumm will help the pen. Kannapolis, good pen really helps the staff, ok lineup with Webster, Varela, but Andy Gonzalez is really struggling. -
Rex, Julio Reyes has been in low minors for at least 4 years now, he will not progress, he is a career minor leaguer. 1 year at Arizona, 2 in Bristol and now his 2nd at Kannapolis.
-
Reed, Yan and Webster along with Miles are only ones even close to ever wearing a major league uniform.
-
OK, just wondered, as I read his piece on Charlotte and it appeared to be similar to the one on their homepage. We normally cut and paste the boxcores and articles on a prospects thread. Keep up the good work guys.
-
Why do you write your own story on these and not just put links to each teams webpage with the stories and boxscores?
-
I agree DJ deserves the job, he has a very good OBP by taking walks and Ks infrequently. I think Miles deserves AAA 2B job over Harris. Miles looked good down in Tucson, he is an Eckstein type player for sure. Miles would be with team in my opinion if he could play more than just 2B. Let him learn CF. I agree Borchard should be out LF and soon. Hummel played almost entirely at SS when I was in Tucson, he and Nunez, of course that is because Jose was sitting the first week out after winterball.
-
Miles DHd a couple games, has not played much since. Harris is playing brunt of 2B, why I have no friggin clue. I want Miles getting the time in, not Harris. Oh well. BTW, Hummel playing 3B. Grasshopper, yes Joe B is playing CF.
-
I was not overly impressed with Malone in Tucson, did not appear to throw as hard as I had expected to see, lots of off speed crap and wild too.
-
Adkins with poor start, for a guy who supposedly throws hard he never gets any Ks. 3 hits for Joe B, but lose 8-3. Looks like Diaz sent to the pen. Birm was not schedules and Win-Sal postponed. Kannapolis lost 2-0, 2 shutouts in a row there, and they have the Bristol team from last year. Tracy started and lost with 4 so-so innings, 4 walks hurt. Nice relief by Armando Perez and 1 inning for Rick Hummel.
-
1 nice inning with 2 Ks, he has had 2 strong outings and 2 poor outings this season so far I believe.
-
UNS, cat got your tongue?? Eldred got a win with 2 perfect innings earlier this week.
-
They are quiet up here, no one is hitting, 3 hits today, 2 by Gomez. Rivas under .100, Hunter at .125, LeCroy (who they thought would replace Ortiz) about .120 or so. Miserable. Santana with 4 outstanding innings in relief, they did not need Rogers. Idiots.
-
Armas with 8 Ks thru 4, Cubs really K'ing a lot. Gonzalez whiffed all 4 times up yesterday and both times today, still over .400 tho. Parque sucked with us. I could not stand the whiney little turd. He also has a fragile brain.
-
That is worldcrossing speak, means Expos are kicking the Cubs in Wrigley.
