  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) Unless you (and Kap in the other thread) are finally agreeing with me that a terrorist needs to have a trial somehow, somewhere and be convicted before he can be actually punished like a terrorist then I fail to see your point. How is Brady calling someone a murderer before a trial any different than this administration saying KSM will convicted before his trial? I don't think I have ever made a comment on this topic. My point was referencing the prejudgement by both parties in the stated cases.
  2. An honest question here. Does anyone here actually think this bill will lower the deficit? If we can cut the 80-100 billion in Medicare waste now, why haven't we already started? How will we pay for the SEPARATE doc fix? And on a completely different subject can someone explain why, if FNM and SLM are in conservatorship, their 1.4 trillion in debt is not counted in the Federal debt numbers? Carry on.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) Wow... he's gonna send that directly to Secretary Gates? I guess Michael Yon (don't know who he is) has some kind of journalistic access? If it's something the local Spanish base commander is responsible for that's jumping way over the chain, because it's something that can be handled via normal military channels - if it's something about the Spanish military in general, yeah, that's gonna require Gates and other diplomats get involved, tear a couple of new assholes. He is a former special forces member who reports from Iraq/Afghanistan with the contributions of donors. Has some really good stuff out there.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) wtf? Does he even understand the basic concepts of court, criminal law, etc.? For the government to be able to say you're a murderer, you kind of have to be convicted of murder... that's the whole point of accusing someone of murder (This is the same bad logic for terrorist trials too btw, but I'm not going there anymore than I already have so I don't trip kap's bat signal) Like the current administration saying KSM will be found guilty before his trial?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 11:06 AM) Really, you think that'll change anything? All that will do is make it apparent to other states that they have another out if they cut taxes further. Yes. If the judge had any balls he would destroy the sweetheart pensions and move us along.. Or we could just keep giving cost of living raises at a 3% clip. That will make us fiscally sound. Do you really think these pensions are sustainable? Another thing, anyone who runs a state pension and is GUARANTEEING anything over 3% should be hanged and quartered. These are unrealistic return assumptions. Just an excuse not to make pension payments. Lower the return assumptions, cut the benefits, increase the retirement age, and yes RAISE taxes. See where that takes us.
  6. This is f***ing awesome: http://www.michaelyon-online.com/revealed-...is-own-camp.htm This is f***ing disgraceful: http://www.michaelyon-online.com/of-concern.htm
  7. We deserve it! Hopefully Illinois, California, New York and some others go bankrupt. That will be the only way we can affect the change needed to become fiscally sane.
  8. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) Yeah! Those damn union workers and their living wage. Living Wage.....LOL.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) Newest outrage: OMG Obama is only giving the troops a "1.4% pay increase for active duty military in 2011. This is THE LOWEST SINCE 1973!" (psssttt.... because of the economy, I didnt get ANY pay raise!) They're not union.
  10. Delahunt not seeking another term.
  11. "What has happened in the last year, in the past year, in the United States Senate is a total obstruction by the Republican senators," Pelosi said. What does that say about the content of the legislation if it cannot pass with 60 votes? Don't let the botox go to your brain. Just keep working on that most ethical Congress thing...seems its a work in progress.
  12. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) Hey, if he doesnt want to get elected again, that's up to him. He is retiring..
  13. I love Obama's response to Paul Ryan talking about the obsurdity of the CBO score of this bill,.... "I don't want to get bogged down by numbers." Yeah what's an extra trillion dollars . Brilliant.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) I said nothing... I am referencing your use of sources...
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) lol, Duke has a point, Michelle Malkin is a ridiculous screeching weasel, but this is the Republican thread and she's a popular conservative blogger so that is what it is. I linked to a story from her website. IS THE STORY WRONG? What is the problem? How does linking from her website make the underlying story untrue? I do not believe i was defending Malkin. Chill out! Now I know what Balta feels like.
  16. Sen. Kent Conrad (D., N.D.) a crucial Democratic vote in the Senate should reconciliation be pursued, said bluntly that the House must pass the Senate bill as-is before the Senate will take up a "sidecar" of compromises on the legislation. "I don't know of any way, I don't know of any way where you can have a reconciliation bill pass before the bill that it is meant to reconcile passes," said Conrad, who would be a central figure on the Senate floor if Democrats embark on the complicated process. "I don't know how you would deal with the scoring. I don't know how I could look you in the eye and say this package reduces the deficit. It's kind of got the cart before the horse." When reminded that House Democrats don't want to do health care in that order, Conrad said bluntly: "Fine, then it's dead."
  17. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 01:21 PM) You cannot attack one of the Democrat hacks after linking Michelle Malkin. Waits for NBC to cover story............... How is someone linking to a television show not credible?
  18. http://michellemalkin.com/2010/02/23/the-o...th-race-issues/ Can't wait for Olby to cover this. Will Donny, BTW, what 40 something year old calls himself DONNY, what are you f***ing't racist two? Worst person in the world..... How long before Crist either switches parties or tries to run as an independent? Either way he will be crushed.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 12:05 PM) The GOP has made some strides lately, because of the economy mostly, but also frustration over Obama's performance, and some other factors. But none of that has changed the fact that the Republicans are fractured, and having trouble keeping the band together (which they have been very good at until recently). You have the Christian Coalition types, the libertarian/small government types, the old school moderate Republicans, and then the whole angry old white guy crowd that doesn't know who to align with (and driven mostly by talk show hosts and unfounded "facts"). The Tea Party seems to have started as the small government crowd, but then became the "I'm angry about Obama" crowd. I think the GOP has a golden opportunity in 2010 and 2012 to make big gains - but I also think they are unlikely to rally around anything other than "Obama sucks", successfully. That will work to an extent, but it won't give them anything huge, like 1994. With unemployment at 10+% in November, The R's will gain 70 seats.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 07:30 AM) Winning an election? (Yes, I know there were some minor hijinks to get him on the ballot). No hijinks. Just New Jersey Democratic politics.
  21. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Stay classy. Thank You! Will do.
  22. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) political suicide for a republican governor in a democratic state, to appoint a republican interim if something happens. he'll be Robert Byrd/Tim Johnson/Ed Kennedy'd. Lmao. Like the way Lautenberg was put back in office.
  23. http://www.rollcall.com/news/43349-1.html?...a:&st=email Another R gain, eventually, but maybe only temporarily.
  24. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) Funny to see the similarities here... Reagan takes office Jan/Feb 81. 12 months later, the unemployment rate has risen 1.5%. (7.4-8.9%) GWB takes office Jan/Feb 01. 12 months later, the unemployment rate has risen 1.5%. (4.2-5.7%) Obama takes office Jan/Feb 09. 12 months later, the unemployment rate has risen 1.5%. (8.2-9.7%) Now there is a difference between the time it takes for the rates to start to decline. Reagan- Started at 7.4%. Peaks at 10.8% 23 months later. Rate starts its continual decline 24 months after inaug. GWB- Started at 4.2%. Peaks at 6.3%, 28 months later. Rate declines for next 24 months before plateau and taking off again. Obama- Started at 8.2%. Peaks at 10.1% 9 months later. Has it peaked yet?
  25. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 06:21 PM) INDIANAPOLIS – Health insurer WellPoint blames the Great Recession and rising medical costs for its planned 39 percent rate increase for some California customers. To President Barack Obama, however, it's Exhibit A in his campaign to revive the health care overhaul. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who received the company's explanation in a letter Thursday, said "it remains difficult to understand" how premium increases of that size by can be justified when WellPoint Inc. reported a $2.7 billion profit in the last quarter of 2009. I believe they would blame the State of California for the increase. Anthem Blue Cross, the Wellpoint subsidiary that is raising the rates on 700,000 of its customers says it is due to state regulations. Even after their customers' COBRA benefits are exhausted, the State bars Anthem from dropping them. And they cap what Anthem can charge these people. That's fair. Who is left to subsidize these people but currently employed customers. Sebelius and Messiah also do not mention Wellpoint lost $58 million on these post COBRA people. But then again they do not care as long as they can paint an insurer as a greedy institution.
