  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) First, let me say it's ridiculous that something like this could be overlooked. According to the original story, this has happened in NY and New Mexico as well. It seems like those cases have been settled, so that could give some indication to what this actually means and what the potential results are. The headline for that blog and the first paragraph are misleading, though. It makes it seem as if no overseas ballots will count in Illinois. Neither article gives a source for the scale of the problem. And, actually, if you compare the first paragraph of the blog to the original WLS article portion: It seems deliberately dishonest to implicate the "Democratic Secretary of State", as if it were a politically-motivated action taken by Jesse White. Based on the WLS article, it seems that the problem comes from some level below the Secretary of State, that it isn't one central office or Jesse White himself sending these out. Ultimately, "the buck stops here" and White needs to answer for any problems in his department, but that blog is slanted to say the least. And, finally, why are Holder and the DOJ being implicated by cknolls? What different action do you suspect would happen with an inner city precinct that didn't get enough ballots or voting machines? Because that happens in pretty much every election. edit: also, in New York, it says the five boroughs were in violation. Yeah, pretty sure that covers some inner city precincts. Who enforces the MOVE ACT?
  2. Anyone know where i can find ANY news on Charlie Wilson beating his wife. Seems Google and any/all Ohio press have zilch on it. But unsealing divorce records all over it. No need to answer. Can't imagine why people use newspapers for their pets to s*** on...
  3. Holder and the DOJ , doing a bang up job with the military ballots. Wonderful oversight boys. New York, Illinois...who's next? Somehow if it were an inner city precinct I believe the reaction from the AG would be different.
  4. Jake Tapper, ABC: TAPPER: But what do you say to people who argue you are demonizing an organization for a charge that nobody knows if it’s true or not? AXELROD: Well I’m not demonizing the Chamber of Commerce. I’m simply suggesting to them that they disclose the source of the $75 million that they are spending in campaigns and put to rest, put to rest the questions that have been, that have been raised. TAPPER: Isn’t that like the whackjobs that tell the president he needs to show them his full long-form birth certificate so he can put to rest the questions that have been raised? AXELROD: The president’s birth certificate has been available to people. TAPPER: The long form? Absolutely assinine that this is in the news. But, you have to rally the base somehow, despite how patently dishonest and slimy you look.
  5. Jim Marshall (D) GA. wants to pull an Obama....Ok OK, the GA Democratic Party wants to do to Austin Scott what the Dems in Illinois did to Ryan. He/They want a judge to unseal his/their opponents divorce records. The judge set a hearing one week before the election....and then recused herself because she previously donated to his campaign and her husband donated to his campaign this year. Keep up the good work ....Just looking out for his constituents I'm sure....Desparation knows no bounds. Scott was divorced in 2001, and his records were sealed in 2004. Why wait six years. Scott has been an elected offoicial for 14 years. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=...5iYzNo8Zjx2Xx8w

  7. I cannot remember an election year with worse political advertising. From the Fiorina sheep ad to Grayson lying about Webster. And in Illinois, please. Quinn is running an add ripping Brady for not paying income taxes last year, and yet his fellow ticket mate running for Senate did not pay taxes for 2009. Halvorson running ads saying Kinzinger wants to abolish SS. Unless he is out of his mind, my guess is his plan, if he even has a plan, does not affect current SS recipients. So all the seniors in the ad saying "young man you have no idea". GET A CLUE! And that is why Halvorson will go down.
  8. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) GOP blocks Democrats' bill to limit jobs outsourcing Seven votes shy would indicate Dems voted against the bill, no? So CNN full of....oh fuggedaboutit..
  9. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 24, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) So the media spent time on that, instead of the testimony from Coates about how the Justice Dept was told to not go after minority defendents, specificly the New Black Panther Party. I guess you have to have priorities in the news coverage, eh? Just watch the network news tonight.
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) From what I can tell, the arguments boil down to: Constitution vs. Emotional Uprise Am I wrong? Am I missing something on either side? Quran burning? Or Muslim community Center? I thought you switched topics.
  11. Better than expected initial claims this morning. With revisions -13k. But its easy to beat expectations when you make up numbers. Nine states did not file claims #'s. Two, CA and VA, estimated their own and the remaining 7, the Fed's estimated. We all know how well they do with #'s. FWIW.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) (Honestly, I'm not quite sure who you meant. Pelosi is my guess, but that's it). Waxman. Head of Oversight Committee.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:21 PM) Reagan? Nixon? Arnold? Nice.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) but i thought we should never look back, let the country heal. You can thank the rat from CA.
  15. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 08:58 AM) Better than expected... http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Economic-gro...set=&ccode= Until final revision comes out.
  16. New home sales= 276k vs 334k exp. M/M change -12.2%. What was it that that Biden said,.....oh yeah,"recovery summer"
  17. Another "unexpected" record month to month drop in existing home sales. 3.83mln vs. 4.72 mln. Just missed. More stimulus more stimulus.
  18. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 05:22 PM) jobless claims have been steadily rising. Just to get back the 8 million jobs lost and to cover new entrants into the labor market would require a spectacular turn around. A turnaround that would make the gains in the 90's look meager. I just don't see that happening. Just smoke some more Hopium.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) What? Muslims are living in New York? ALERT REDSTATE?!?!?!!? WTF are you talking about?
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) not racist but bigoted against muslims. This is clearly the case because opponents are equating the extremists with all muslims. I'll ask again: how far away does "common sense" dictate it should be? How many muslims live within 5 miles of proposed site? 10 miles? 15 miles?
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 08:37 AM) Exactly, it's time for more stimulus.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) Significant numbers of refinancing: good. Propping up home values with taxpayer dollars; fails every time. (worth noting...the Administration could have pulled something effective as stimulus in terms of a refinancing program a year and a half ago, but the HAMP program has been perhaps the most abject failure of anything they've done). How about "advising" the banks to lend/refi mortgages @ 1% over 10 yr yields? Who in their right mind would not apply/refi their mortgage for that. Currently that would be in the 3.5% area. Sounds like a no brainer. Banks still make over 3% and people get to keep their houses and pump their savings into the economy.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Do you really actually believe that will happen? That because they've spun off some things that used to generate small amounts of revenue...their budgets will shrink? We all know gov't never shrinks. Come on 2k.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 08:27 AM) To steal a line from Timothy Geithner...Welcome to the recovery! Worth noting...the Private sector added some 75,000 jobs. The job losses were entirely due to government cutbacks...2/3 of them were Census jobs, but another 50,000 public employees were laid off. And june was revised down 51000. Pretty weak. But that's all they have. Could be worse.
