  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Didn't see the 2nd half of that, where did you get that bit? I have a financial website on my computer that does not allow me to copy and paste. Will try to find a way to post.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) QEII officially sets sail. Total is $1 Trillion. They are also buying $35 billion/mo in mortgage bonds if I read it correctly??
  4. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Nov 3, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) Yah... and the Republicans are the party of old white people and nothing more... Good to see Michael Bennett win in Colorado. From what I've seen the guy doesn't seem like a complete tool, and it's always good to see homophobes like Ken Buck take it on the chin. The Dems must have a pretty strong team on the ground in Colorado. Well if that includes the first Latina Governor, an Indian American woman Governor and two black Reps, then yeah.
  5. I think the biggest story last night was the absolute obliteration of the Dems in the state races. The D's are a two coast party and nothing more.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) What do you call someone who failed out of med school? Dr. Spock?
  7. If I had to pick one race that would/could be the upset du jour, I would pick McMahon in CT. On the Dem side I would pick Sestak.
  8. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) I'm wondering what people's take is on this. (and i guess we'll find out for sure in approx 6-8 hours) Turnout has been reported as higher than expected. Is this a cause of.. 1) There's a lot more angry people out there than originally expected. Watch out cause here they come. 2) All of these polls and chat about "likely voters" vs "registered voters" may be off track. 3) The talk about an "enthusiasm gap" may be untrue. My personal thought is a combination of 2/3. I would think that those who fall into Category #1, would have voted in the Primaries, where turnout was normal. Turnout in Illinois?
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) Without disputing the point that Gore currently has lots of green energy investments...you do realize that the large majority of his family's funds came from being an early investor in something called "The Google", right? Didn't his "family money come from oil?

  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 09:10 AM) So do people think the Repubs are going to take control of Congress? I personally think the Dems are going to come out and vote, lessening the big swing a lot of people are expecting. House yes, Senate unlikely. Also, thank god this election cycle is over. Campaign ads are always bad, but this year was especially negative and obnoxious. Everywhere I turned there was an ad on TV, the radio, billboards, signs, etc., talking about how awful the other guy is. I spent 2 weeks at the beginning of October in Hawaii on my honeymoon and it was all over the islands. So tired of it. I am sticking with my prediction here from several months ago of an R gain of at least 70 in the House. Minimum gain of 7 in the Senate.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) who? Nina Totenberg. Not only Helms but his grandchildren too. Very classy. NPR guidelines for a statement like that are what exactly?
  13. http://biggovernment.com/dbroes/2010/10/22...-hat-and-shirt/ God I love unions..
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) Newest GOP boogeyman: NPR For having the audacity to fire Juan Williams for revealing some pretty bigoted thoughts about Muslims. LOL. And yet they still employ a woman who wished AIDS and death on a Congressman.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 07:56 AM) I find it to be a bunch of hooey that it gets worse every year. Bush mailers in SC in 2000. The Harold Ford Jr. with a blonde girl hugging ads in Tennesee in 2006. Any chaxby sambliss ad. Any Jesse Helms ad. Democratic Byrd ad against Bush was very classy.
  16. Only R's do it. Got it.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) How much influence does $199 buy? How many times did $199 donate $199?
  18. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13...ng-Muslims.html Ridiculous!
  19. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 10:58 AM) Call this a partisan comment, but I'm a bit annoyed by the attack line used against Alexei for Senate. He lost $150 million in the College Savings Fund. If you look closely at the reference date for that comment, its from January 2009. Right after the DOW took a huge tumble. Anyone else want to tell me what other funds didn't lose money from 2007-2009. Probably every single one of them. I just don't know why Alexei doesn't post a response showing that the fund has regained all (if not more than all) of it's losses in the past 14 months as the DOW has moved up 40%. I believe it was a certain fund that was supposed to be a conservative investment. But like all other funds at the time, this fund reached for extra yield and was bitten. They probably sold all risky investments, hence the awful return and absent participation with the subsequent move off the March '09 lows.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) said over the weekend that he's been encouraged to consider running for mayor of Chicago. via Does he have a city pension yet?...........And there must be some extra space on his tombstone...
  21. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20019931-503544.html Keep up the good work boys, In one more year you will pass up the fiscal conservative, GW Bush. Just pathetic!
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 15, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) Holy f***, anyone seen AAPL stock? AAPL makes up over 20% of NDX and QQQQ. AAPL as of three days ago was up over 43% ytd. It accounted for over 2/3 of the increase in the said indexes.
  23. Banks getting pummeled this week. Remeber the reaction to the news is always more important than the news itself. Something to keep in mind with the QE2 talk floating around. JPM down over 10% since earnings Wed morning. BAC down almost 20% since Wed morning. Before this crisis ends we'll see if too big to fail is truly too big too fail.

  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) So if there is no news on it, what makes you think it happened? Did you witness it? How about their divorce records from 20 years ago. And her affadavit stating his wonderful behavior. Or maybe she was making it up ...Get real here would you guys... The press is a shill and you guys will find a way to defend their silence here too.
