  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) Bernanke, that dastardly liberal, is again warning against short-term spending cuts. OTOH Republicans have managed to convince 55% of Americans that spending cuts and tax cuts will magik up some growth despite all sorts of economists, left & right, saying that implementing Republican economic mythology would have disastrous results. BEN "the housing mkt is contained" Bernanke? GMAFB......
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:16 AM) Ah, this is why oil plummeted. Personally, I have no idea why you'd do this now and not 3-4 months ago when we first started bombing Libya. LOL. DESPERATION!!!!!!!!!
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 08:37 AM) At least personally, I'm still going to say "I don't know" on that one, because every official report disagrees with you and includes explanations that I will never understand, while there are a lot of rumor-type stories from people like you that disagree with the official reports. I have to agree with ss, I too was on the floor at the time and this did in fact happen.
  4. Gm boss wants $1 gas tax. Yeah, ok, right after you forgo the tax credits this administration gifted upon you in bankruptcy.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) Lol, god I couldn't even come up with a better way to show how completely inefficient and wasteful government really is. What a f***ing joke. How much does Dick think that'll cost, to set up a federal office to collect the taxes and then distribute them out to the states? America everybody. Ugh. Your looking at it all wrong. Think about how many jobs will be created?
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) What prediction of Keynesianism has been wrong so far? Where's the horrible inflation that should come from printing money like crazy? Why did unemployment stabilize? Well inflation is caused by the rise in wages which leads to the rise in prices. So that has nothing to do with Keynesianism.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) Turn it around then...how do you know it wouldn't have made a difference? Smells like A "BO" argument.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) Of course, anyone who paid attention to history might have noted that we'd already passed 7% unemployment before the stimulus itself was even passed. So clearly, the stimulus went back in time to cause the increased unemployment rise. Because otherwise, having blown through the unemployment estimate made 2 months beforehand would suggest to an honest viewer that much more radical steps needed to be taken. A much larger stimulus, and much stronger action from the Federal Reserve. But that would of course require honesty and would invalidate belief in stimulus time travel. Ah yes we need to hand out more of Keynesian glasses. The world is much brighter when looking through them. GMAFB!
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) They did go into bankruptcy, get reorganized, and resume working. And were given over $23 billion in tax loss carryovers, unheard of in a bankruptcy. THAT IS WHY GM IS PROFITABLE. Banks are not as profitable as they seem. Loan loss reserves, a banks best friend.
  10. “There’s no need to have a Democratic budget in my opinion,” Reid said in an interview Thursday. “It would be foolish for us to do a budget at this stage.”
  11. Just read a report(rumor???) via Reuters, that Gaddhafi is no longer in Tripoli and has most likely been wounded Italian Foreign Minister Frttini said on fRanco Friday. Fratini told reporters in Tuscany that he believed what he had been told by Giovanni Innocenzo Martinelli, the Catholic Bishopin Tripoli, that "Gahhafi was most probably even wounded" by Nato airstrikes. Unable to link so just poste verbatim what I read. Watch oil to see any reaction. Should be negative for oil. ight now crude down .95 at 98.02.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) Holy crap, they broke par? Damn, I think I actually called a top the other day. Stupid me for not putting some money on some summertime puts. Silver down 25% in last five days or so.
  13. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ May 5, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) There were a couple caveats to that number. Oregon instituted a new emergency unemployment program that inflated the number somewhat, and New York had 25,000 spring break layoffs that were a week to late to be adjusted as seasonal.... Still not a good number though. But, oil and gas are going through the floor. Oil down 6% today, from 108 to 102 or so. Those damn speculators. How dare they take oil down almost $12 in a day and a half. Trading 99.84
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 4, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) This thread is slowing down precipitously and that makes me sad. Kind of how all threads wind up here. Nothing new at all.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 2, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) Wow, Hillary looks like she's going to vomit. Probably thinking how she will spin Pakistani cooperation on the mission....
  16. Every time Bambi says moderate, subdued, or transitory....take a drink.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) I actually agree with you 100%. the problem is that it will be doubly dangerous because of the utter dependence on government in that country. When that bubble goes, it is going to pop a lot of other sectors there. I really feel that it could be bad enough to take down the government like commodity prices and debt did to the USSR. Austrailia will get hammered when this happens.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) Eh, I don't mind. Mistakes happen. I'm just wondering where the Republicans are complaining about voter fraud? Now we all know this was not fraud, the votes were cast just not transmitted. Not the same thing. Even the Dems are calling no foul here.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 09:15 AM) I'll remember that the next time y'all complain about Democratic votes turning up after an election. Karma is a b**** isn't it?
  20. Congrats Justice Prosser on your victory.
  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) Will she be exploring US geography as well? Yeah Obama is going to educate her on the other 7 states in our country.
  22. Police said it was a "terrorist attack" -- Israel's term for a Palestinian strike. It was the first time Jerusalem had been hit by such a bomb since 2004. http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/03/23/u...E72M3S520110323 How silly of those damn Israelis calling a bombing of civilians a terorist attack. There is your unbiased news reporting the Truth.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) Terrorist attacks in Jerusalem that kill 1 person are, frankly, not uncommon. Well nice of you to justify that. How sliting a baby's throat child and murdering two siblings and thier parents, like these scumbags did last week. Does that warrant any comment or is that the priceof living with a bunch radical s***bags who need to be wiped off the planet.
  24. While we're in the neighborhood maybe we can take a right at the Suez and head past the Bekaa valley....After all this would fall under humanitarian concerns, no? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/ml_syria
  25. The silence from Obamaville on the Israeli terrorist attack is deafening.
