  1. Danks running out of steam, Coop buying time as the 'pen warms...
  2. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) The guy was running toward the fence in right center. And caught it right in front of the fence. And it's Nick Swisher's arm that we're talking about. That said, holding up Paulie was probably the right thing to do.
  3. Deja vu all over again. I bash Nix's bat quite a bit, but he's having an excellent day at the plate today.
  4. Too bad that Paulie was on 2nd. Somebody with decent speed may have advanced.
  5. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) Tim McCarver is such an idiot Understatement of the Year
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) Nice hand from Sox fans there. A "Reverse Bartman"
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) Hope that doesn't effect Paulies speed.
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) Was this not clear enough, WC? I start with the name Nix, he's the subject of a thought, further the post by mentioning something happening to Alexei, and then finished the thought referring to the subject of the 1st sentence moving to third. I acknowledge your confusion, but do not enjoy your tone. Speaking of tone, I didn't appreciate the unnecessary and condescending "Read it again" comment. The logic of moving a "natural second baseman" from SS to 3B is also questionable.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) Read it again. Try communicating more clearly next time. Maybe, but I don't see how a "natural 2B" is going to do better at 3B than SS.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) Nix is a natural second basemen. If anything happens to Alexei in the long-term, he should move to 3b. Have you seen Alexei play 3B?
  11. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) Loaded, not sure why they held AJ. He's slow. Wouldn't have made it.
  12. Yeah, Thom, it's a real shocker that Kenny Williams didn't want to bring Frank Thomas back to Chicago this season.
  13. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) For being good at defense, Nix sure has f***ed up a lot of plays the past couple weeks. Hasn't hit for crap, either. Can't wait for Alexei to return.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) Yeah it's amazing that they used the same exact shift that every team uses when he bats.
  15. QUOTE (sox405 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) ANNOUNCING SO FAR SO GOOD I'm sure that McCarver will morph into Mr. Know-It-All any minute now.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) I just found that Sunday WGN is bradcasting the game and FOX has it Saturday This morning, I discovered that our Fox affiliate here in Oregon will be covering this afternoon's game as well. (It's always Mariners, Giants, A's, or Dodgers here on Saturday). So, if you live in OR, WA, or ID, there's a good chance that you'll be able to watch the Sox this afternoon.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 07:33 AM) As far as worrying what USCF will do to Peavy's ERA, its interesting to note Gavin Floyd's ERA at USCF is almost 3.00 LOWER than it is everywhere else. Buerhle's ERA is about HALF what it is on the road. Contreras' ERA at USCF lower than on the road, Danks ERA at home, lower than on the road. Only Richard had a higher ERA at home. I really doubt moving to USCF if going to make Jake Peavy a gas can. I imagine that his ERA will probably be in the upper 3's. He'll give up some dingers, but I'd be surprised if his WHIP didn't remain well below 1.3.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) Yeah, but you don't get very far by attempting to rape other organizations all the time (although Theo Epstein might disagree). If you are fair and trustworthy, which I think Kenny tries to be, I think you'll be a lot better off in the long run. Exactly. If Kenny didn't throw Towers a bone and offer him a fair talent return for Peavy, the two would probably never do business again. I'll bet that he learned a lot after his first trade with Gord Ash.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) Unfortunately, he was bad in CF, I wouldn't say that he was bad in CF. He was a lot better than Mackowiak or Pods out there. Just not a good long-term solution. Quentin's transformation into a stud took away one corner OF position, and I imagine that Kenny thought that he could do better at the other (either via re-signing JD or hitting the FA market).
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) Crawford sure would look good in LF and in the 2 hole. On this team, he'd play CF and lead off.
