I think we plan on a july '06 wedding, and of course my favorite soxtalk peeps will be invited....so, yeah, the list is short. Brando, I'll send you the invite via email. anyway, we're gonna have it at her home church, and make it beautiful, but simplistic. I know that we have enough friends with connections to help us cut some costs. I really don't like the idea of spending much more than 5-6k on it. She already has some of that saved up, so it doesn't pain me as much as my friends wedding this weekend. (nice, but for 15k? rip-----off.) anyway...rings stay with you...they mean something...you get to show them off. foosball tables are great and all...but no way will miss sox4life have sex with me as often as I'd like if I get her THAT. (too much info? sorry)

anyone here adopted? anyone planning on adopting kids? anyone have thoughts on mixed race adoptions? miss sox4life and I were talking about the idea of a family this weekend, and we both agreed on adopting 2 out of our 4 kids, I think. I mean, we can't plan or anything, but I know we both want a sizable family and we'd want to have the joy of both birth and adopted kids. (infants, really).

if she likes the idea, I may spend more on the wedding bands and less on the engagement ring. chisoxy, if and when you get married, how much would you spend on it? cos I'm not a big fan of spending 10K+ on a wedding... now THAT'S a serious misallocation of funds...

that's funny, because my best friend that's getting married this summer didn't get a ring because of the african diamond trade/armless children thing...and we(meaning, she) decided she'd still like a ring.

she's 5'6" and 120...so 2 ct. would look GAW-DEEEEE... thanks for your advice though

I'm open to people's experience on the dos and dont's of engagement ring shopping. I'm also toying with the idea of matching wedding bands that would be something like this: but with scripture verses engraved around the band...kinda lord of the rings-like...minus the elvish...but keeping the "one ring to rule the other" theme...(her ruling me, of course)
