sure, if you ignore what I just posted. The problem is that we stand from our own perspective. There is no way we can understand and unveil the mysteries of God. He alone stands outside of time and space, but inside of it at all times. If He knows the beginning and the ending, our freedom in the interim still works within His plan. My choice to eat a burrito vs. a taco still works inside of His plan. My choice to kill someone with a burrito or a taco stills works within that plan, because He has a way to lead me back to Him. Or maybe I was so unbelieveably pompous and self-righteous that I needed an experience such as jail/death row, to lead me too him. What does an upper-middle class, white guy from PA with the world at my fingertips need with an All-Powerful, incredibly myseterious and confusing God? Not a lot.... it's not a coincidence that Jesus' stories and experiences heavily revolved around those with money.... A close friend of mine and a recovering alcoholic once said..."if Jesus came back today...he'd be at an AA meeting". A-freakin'-men.

I'll respond to bj and jim in one message.... the words "free will" were never in any of your examples...however, "choice" and derivitivies there of, were. are you serious about the word "predestined?" here: one two three I don't think I need to do much more than that. this is my favorite scripture as of late.... I believe the word "felicitous" would fit. 1 Corinthians
  4. yeah...that's my work email account.. a hello will be appropriate, pictures would not.
  5. yeah... well I'm off for the weekend.

  9. anyone like my style of sigs? They're a little more basic than some of the other guys, but I'm learning with each new one. If you provide the gist of what you want, I'll do the leg work. Just so you know, I'll be away all weekend giggin' with my band, but I'll be back on sunday if y'all want to build a queue for requests...I'll get crackin' thanks y'all you can always paypal me donations at [email protected] hehe, that helps quicken the process...I promise. haha.
  10. I got some good feedback about from other posters about ishmookie's sig, so it wasn't so much his "unhappiness" with my product. He was patient, yet "encouraging" ..... so no one should get on his case. I'll try to make some more sigs probably sunday night if anyone wants one. I'll make a thread....
  11. cdub, thanks for the kind words. Some how, some where, I'm like norm from cheers I think. not sure if that's the right anology, honestly I don't watch that show much...I know that Begood is woody harrelson though I miss posting, but what can we do? wait until I quit my job at the fascist POS credit union in 82 DAYS!!!!! not that I'm counting or anything. until then, I'm making due with solitaire, the books of Joshua and 1 Corinthians, and the atkins diet. Clearly I still pay no attention to my job....

%20-%20Paul%20Helbig%20on%20Romans%209.mp3]Romans 9 sermon I'm not a big "well this guy said so it has to be true" kinda guy...but I believe there's alot of truth in what Paul Helbig has to say. please, enlighten me if I shouldn't be listening to this source. it's about an hour long mp3 of a sermon I heard last fall. quality pre-destination stuff. if anyone has a hour to waste, it's good.

read romans 9.... those who "find salvation", were just elected to begin with. God chose them from the outset. some were chosen for heaven, some were chosen for hell.

soxy, I definitely wasn't saying that YOU were any of those things. I just wanted to dialogue about that, cos your comment most reflects what I'm trying to understand about my own faith. I whole heartedly agree with your last statement.... amen

I completely agree... and then I wake up from my self-dillusioned dream and realize that this whole life, my whole life, isn't about me. In the end, He's glorified one way or another. my life is to prove His greatness.

is God then sad for chosing that one "way?" I mean, I understand your arguement, but why can't God be closed minded about how people should approach Him?
