  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) Upton with a similar opt-out to Heyward after 3-4 years makes some sense... At least he would be in his 20's and with less concern about declining production. That said, his market has been the most quietest of those three...kind of similar to Chris Davis, albeit with no offer from the Padres to legitimately keep him. Upton will turn 29 in August
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) Yes, but not worth getting all world up until the chips have fallen. Go Sox!
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Nothing has happened. All three are still FAs. Relax. I'll try. But, with the acquisition of both Frazier and Lawrie and feeling like we may be just that one player away from being a much better team - - - I really would like to see something good happen real soon! I think we all would!
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Sacrificing the future to win now is why the Sox are in the position they are. Improve the team each year while realistically protecting the future is a better plan. Besides Frazier is gone in two years anyway. The future is 2016!! Otherwise why trade for Frazier?
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) What are you even talking about? Smh. You must assume that the players pay no attention to the signings of the free agents!
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) What are you even talking about? Smh. Well, many of the fans on here are not happy. Can the players be somewhat disappointed if this is truly our strategy?
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) That he he is now playing for a team that will be better than the one he left. But this FO needs to show him that they are willing to pay to get to the playoffs. Saying that our team is better than the Reds is not saying much!!
  8. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) Completely agree. If this is true, it is embarrassing trying to pretend to play with the big boys, but truly not wanting to be anywhere near the part of being one of the big boys in terms of spending. I wonder how Todd Frazier feels now?
  9. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) Sometimes it is truly painful being a White Sox fan. We will never give out a 9-figure contract. I hope I eat my words, but it is always the same 'ole story. Leave it to the White Sox to screw this up by crying "poor." With this news, we aren't "All in." We a partially in and hoping for the best with a useless RF. If they are truly only willing to go 3 years, they should be embarrassed. I am actually embarrassed. If this is true, I prefer they not leak the info. Just bow out gracefully.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) If the Sox do sign Gordon, it would be interesting to hear what the reasons are that he would say in his press conference. "I'm looking forward to playing for Robin Ventura".
  11. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) So supposedly the Sox really aren't going for J Ups anymore. Personally, I wanted him far more than Gordon or Cespedes, even if it means we give him a 6-7 year deal for a slightly larger AAV. With Gordon, he's been awesome as an all around player, but I am really concerned about him stay healthy and getting us 150+ games a season. With Cespedes, he brings that much needed power, but for the biggest contract we've ever given, I'd like a guy who has an OBP of over .320. He'd still be a great player, but I'm concerned about our financial resources going to a guy who hits for low average but can't draw walks that well. I think Upton just brings that all-around player (power, OBP, speed, decent D) and I have a lot more confidence in his durability than the other 2. Either way, this team will be better with any of these guys, but I am still holding out hope that we net Upton instead of the other too. Maybe the circles that the other rumors have gone in lately will lead a path back to Justin. I agree.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) There is life outside baseball offseason rumors just to let everyone know. Yes, it's called Fantasy Baseball!!
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow says he "would not be surprised" to see the Giants land Cespedes, according to multiple sources. RaBBit, If you see Hawk tonight ask him about our chance of signing Cespedes.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) It has been oddly quiet today on Twitter. Not even the occasional "SOURCE: Cespedes, White Sox agree to deal" tweet, which we saw lots of last night. Maybe that is good news. But, as has been mentioned before I just don't want another team to come in sign him away from us. We need a big bat!
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) But it was Merkin who told him. Merkin has been wrong 100% of the time this offseason. Right! My intent was not to put this info??? on RaBBit.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Was this ever confirmed by raBBit or bucket? Mentioned by Rabbit Dec 30 1:04PM
  17. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) If the Sox truly aren't going over 100 million, then they stand a good chance of not getting anyone. I really think Gordon is going to stay in KC if the Royals come in anywhere near the top offer. And I don't see Cespedes/Upton signing for less than 100 million. Sox not going over $100 mil. Have we just been wasting our time on here for the last several days? I had to edit because all of the talk has been quite interesting!
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) Joe...sounds Canadian Good one. I laughed!
  19. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 22s22 seconds ago Florida, USA chisox are at least weighing yoenis cespedes & alex gordon to fill an outfield spot @Ken_Rosenthal & @JesseSanchezMLB on it "at least weighing" Doesn't sound like something is close to happening.
  20. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:03 PM) As will we all. In the meantime, action is undeniably picking up which is a good thing.MLB trade rumors reports Nats to sign Stephen Drew but nothing on Cespedes or Latos
  21. QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) The guy also just said we signed mat latos....I'll believe cespedes to the sox when someone legit comes out and says it https://mobile.twitter.com/rickslat123/stat...021160284852226 I don't believe this guy.
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 08:37 PM) I know whitesoxdave and his source broke a trade that happened earlier in the offseason. I don't have anything that I am willing to attach my name to at this point. There's a lot of smoke though. Would be nice to see something confirmed tonight. I keep jumping to different sights to see if there is more info. Although, Soxtalk will probably have it reported before anyone else
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 08:07 PM) Given the choice, I prefer an OF of Jackson-Eaton-Cespedes. That would be pretty solid. Just as soon get the OF D fixed if they are going this far. And dare I suggest that a Jackson/Parra platoon in lieu of the big ticket guy might work as well. Austin Jackson a FA, right? What would he cost?
  24. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 08:03 PM) Fake Ken Rosenthal said sox get Cespedes too lol. So there 3 peeps These fakes need to get a life.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) One thing I read about Saladino that may surprise people is according to Bill James, his time to 2nd base on steal attempts is only eclipsed by 3 players...a guy named Noel who basically is a minor leaguer, Billy Hamilton, and Dyson. Maybe he can become an elite basestealer. an elite base stealer on this team would be a nice add. I'd like to see Saladino at SS to open the season.
