  1. Joe's play wasn't that impressive to me, really. I suppose it has to do with the fact that I think it really hit the tarp, or maybe just that all the bouncing around the body seemed lucky to me. Iguchi's was the more talented play, I think, as well as prettier.
  2. QUOTE(GarlandFan20 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) I didn't know Paulie was a catcher once.
  3. If we can, options-wise, maybe we should send Politte down for awhile and bring Nelson up for him. Otherwise I think Gload should go.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 4, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) Thank you Mr. Darwin. I didn't give you guys that theory for nothing, you know? It was the Royals I had in mind, so don't let me down.
  5. These should be mandatory everytime Contreras is on the mound.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 4, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Lets beat the f*** out of the Royals, huh? Survival of the fittest.
  7. I wonder if his taking the day off today had more to do with the fact that he didn't want to be torn down by the fans he used to love. It had to have hurt, especially with Thome's personality and love for Cleveland.
  8. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ May 1, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) It will be a full house when Frank returns. You missed the point, but that's okay. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 1, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) 17k is pretty lousy though. Even we would have drawn more than that with defending champs in town. Especially a division rival. Hmm. Probably. Yeah, I'd say that's right on. Still, though, glass houses.
  9. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ May 1, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) Cleveland can't get more than 17.000 in the first appearance by the defending champs and the homecoming of Jim Thome, they suck Attendance isn't a particularly valid way to judge a team or even its fanbase, I don't think. White Sox and Attendance -- ring a bell? That said, I was surprised but only mildly so. I thought it hurt him when I first saw him, but hey, he hurt them when he left, I'm sure. Breaking up is never easy.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) Well in that case, I'd gladly take that bum on our team. Good for you.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) Bum-ish? Like a bum.
  12. Santana looks bum-ish to me. That was my first thought seeing him, actually.
  13. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Exactly. Whatchoo talking about, Greg? Did you just start watching baseball this past October? Playing dumb is without question the smartest move. Yes, I just started watching baseball this past October. Really I'm a Cubs fan. And I like Cleveland, too.
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 09:00 AM) Well, he is the best hitter in White Sox World Series extra inning history. A real Mr. October, to be sure.
  15. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) this is between players, so the heat generated isnt quite the same as it would be if Guillen had a player plunk Lee My point was that when the inevitable questions about the beaning came up in the press, Guillen wouldn't suddenly pretend that nothing had ever happened between Lee and Marte. He'd sidestep it to be sure, but he wouldn't make up some bulls*** about "No clue there was a problem."
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 08:52 AM) He may not say it the exact same way Scioscia did, but he would leave it between the players. EVERY manger is going to be politically correct in that situation. You would have to have just started watching the Sox in October to think otherwise...... Please don't start implying that I'm some bandwagon fan. That's bulls***. :rolly All I'm saying is that I don't think Guillen would gain amnesia about the story of his baseball team and forget that, for instance, Carlos Lee treated Damaso Marte like s*** and thus Marte beaned him. He wouldn't say, "I ordered it" or even condone it, but all I'm saying is that I don't think he'd pretend that nothing had ever happened like Scioscia. I wasn't aware that I'd declared Geoff Blum the best hitter in White Sox history.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) Damaso Marte and Carlos Lee have a past history? Or are you referring to history between Guillen and Lee, because thats not quite the same That, coupled with a desire for some leadoff man, was what led to Lee being labeled one of the "selfish" players and being sent off.
  18. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) Damaso Marte and Carlos Lee have a past history? Or are you referring to history between Guillen and Lee, because thats not quite the same Yeah, Lee used to make fun of Marte for having grown up poor and would get physical with him. There was a bunch more, but that's the shortend of it.
  19. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 08:44 AM) Ozzie would be saying the same things, if the tables were turned. Scioscia's doing exactly what you're supposed to do. If Damaso Marte plunked Carlos Lee, I don't think Guillen would say, "I wasn't aware that they'd had any history" or "I didn't know there was a problem." He'd downplay it, to be sure, but I don't think Guillen's that type.
  20. Podsednik's homerun was the ultimate "up yours" in my view, and I enjoyed his homerun more than Konerko's. Both have a pretty dear spot in my heart, though.
  21. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 08:35 AM) That doesnt change the fact that he cant play that up to the press. I agree with you, but i know why he isnt admitting prior knowledge Well, surely I understand, too, that he can't say, "That f***er had it coming" but I just think this level of dishonesty is so blatant as to be humorous/disgusting.
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) He cant play that up to the press, any prior knowledge of something like that would get Escobar in trouble. He has to play dumb There's obvious dishonesty and intellectually dishonesty that isn't dishonest, per se -- it's all the difference between saying "I'm not aware of any recent history" about something that happened a hundred years ago and saying, "I did not have sexual relations with that HBP." He's being so blatantly dishonest that it tarnishes any integrity he might be accused of having. Escobar, too. "I overthrew it." Yeah, okay.
