QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ May 13, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) i agree with what mike north said this morning(on white sox weekly): im happy it was garland pitching yesterday because even if someone like contreras or vazquez, we probably still lose. even with the way contreras has thrown and vazquez as well, it would just be wasting a good start. Eh, I don't buy that.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) He's not, just accept it. Johan Santana: 2004 A.L. Cy Young Award. Blah blah blah. Santana 2004 Cy Young award blah blah blah Johan God blah blah. Jose Contreras is going to win the 2006 Cy Young provided his body doesn't explode.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) I think it's laughable that people would rather have Contreras than Santana. I don't care if you find it laughable. Contreras life story is one of excellent pitching, much like El Duque's. Except that unlike Duque, Contreras has been able to begin and maintain a streak of dominance in the Major Leagues. Contreras is for real. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) That's all you need to say and the debate is over. I didn't say I'd sign Contreras for five years over Johan Santana. All I said was that I'd take Jose over Johan. It's in the details, with contracts, that I'd consider Santana over him, what with age and all. But I think that Contreras -- Cuba, Chicago Contreras -- is a better pitcher than Johan Santana.

If there's a debate going on about Contreras v. Johan, Jose's the only pitcher I'd take on the Sox over Santana. And about Garland, I'm sad to see how much he's regressed by, but it shouldn't be THAT much of a surprise. His second half was quite weak, and he's just going from there.

I love Aaron Rowand. Jim Thome used to talk about how he ranks guys into his "All Animal Team" and if I had one, I'd put Rowand at center.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 11, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) Was it the ankle? Bonds goes HR-less against the Cubs. Godzilla's games played streak might be over He was limping, from what I saw. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 8, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) They say May 17. So that would 18, 19, 20, 21 he's off and then his next start. But watch, they'll make up some excuse when May 17 comes. Oh man I want a Contreras v. Wood matchup. MAKE IT HAPPEN BASEBALL GODS!

Were the fans trying to show Haeger some support with their applause or was that solely for BMac? I feel for poor Haeger.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 10, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) You're asking too much now. Not every pitching prospect walks less than 6 batters in their first outing. Yeah. Let's hold a knuckleballer to the same walk-standards as other pictures.

Everytime he throws a strike I laugh. I'm rooting for him. I think he's great, and I love his story. But the knuckleball makes me laugh oh-so-much. I hate that pitch.

Charlie Haeger to likely start Wednesday
Maybe we should lynch all the people who've mocked Loaiza for being on the DL? Karma. Seriously, though -- which DL list? And retro or not? :/
