  1. QUOTE(Spiff @ May 24, 2006 -> 08:18 AM) If you don't like Stephen A. Smith, then you don't like America. Perhaps you prefer Scottie Pippen's vanilla mumbling, or Mark Jackson's blatantly obvious observations? I prefer Woody Paige.
  2. f*** the Tigers. We'll handle them when we play. I loved it when Guillen made that comment during the Cubs series, "I'd rather be playing the Tigers."
  3. I hope Lee and Contreras get fines, and leave it at that.
  4. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ May 24, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) I liked that, by the way.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ May 24, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Huh? I'm assuming he's parodying Gerald Ford, with the West Coast Teams as Richard Nixon and the "over" as our losing tendencies against them. At least that's what I think he means.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 24, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) Wow this is f***ing ridiculous. Now is where Thornton will s*** down his leg. Nice play Pablo. COME ON...ONE MORE OUT He didn't. Now they're bringing in Jenks.
  7. Ridiculous. Totally ridiculous. I can't believe Dye dropped that.
  8. Why was that A's run marked unearned?
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 24, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) AJ's denied that ever happened. But the story is that he was hit in the balls with a ball during practice, and the trainer asked him how it felt. Pierzynski says, "Like this!" and kneed him in the groin. That's the story. AJ denies it. Take it with a grain of salt.

    ACT Jitters

    28 Composite. 33 English. 34 Reading. 21 Math. 24 Science. I f***ing hate Mathematics. But a twenty eight is very good, and I'm glad.
  11. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines Okay, so which of the 750 active major-league players would you most like to see get beaned?
  12. I was watching PTI and it was announced by the news people at ESPN. I can't recall who they said they traded for him, but that they were trying to plug their four and five spots. I was stunned. When they said, "The New York Mets have traded for..." I thought they had picked up Zito!
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 23, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) I tend to agree with Mariotti a lot more when he's not talking Chicago sports.... Glad I'm not the only one. I'm not sure how often I agree with what he says, but for me it's also more often than when he talks about Chicago. I think you could say that. I saw him on Real Time with Bill Maher awhile back. He was very much obnoxious then. But, then again, I don't really care for Maher, either, so...
  14. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 23, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) The Sox sacrificed their pride and lost millions in ticket revenue to get swpet in the ALDS three years later. I don't think it was worth it. Yeah, I personally think we lost that trade based on the intangibles alone.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ May 23, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Your definition of excellent must be quite different than most of ours. Vazquez is one of those guys who looks better on the mound than his results end up being. If it is, I feel I've got a better standard for excellence. Javier Vazquez is head and shoulders above Jon Garland. His biggest problem is that he gives up the long ball, and that's been his historical problem. His WHIP is excellent. Today, though, he's had to throw in a VERY small strike zone, and that helps explain and justify some of the pitching. I do dislike his tendency to get rattled and shaky when he's angry, but everyone gets like that when they've gotta get five outs or are being shafted at the plate.
  16. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 23, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) I disagree. When Big Jon is on, he's dominating. Remember those 2 straight, 4 hit shutouts last year? Feel free to disagree. Four shutouts doesn't a better pitcher make. Vazquez is excellent. Garland is not. And that'll establish itself by the end of the season even to those who don't believe it already.
  17. Vazquez is head and shoulders above Jon Garland on their best days. He'll be fine. And this inning wasn't THAT bad at all.
  18. Am I the only one who dislikes Smith? Whenever I see him on ESPN, he's being very loud mouthed and he says silly things, IMO. I think he's one of the dumber sportscasters. I actually prefer Mariotti over him on Around the Horn, truth be told.
  19. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 23, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) Holy Jesus, that is dismal. That sounds like it should be on the soundtrack of "Just One Of The Guys" or some s*** 80's movie like that. Haha! I enjoyed JOOTG!!
