That's the question Sports Illustrated asked players in its current issue. It might surprise you to know the answer is NOT Barry Bonds. It's none other than White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski, who received 18 percent of the vote in the survey that 470 players answered. The Giants left fielder was second at 14 percent, followed by Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez (6 percent) and Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez (5 percent). Pierzynski, just off an altercation with Cubs catcher Michael Barrett, who punched him in the face, drew more than 42 percent of the vote in the AL Central. He said he was unaware of the vote and had no comment.

May 25, 200619 yr The hate for A-Rod especially comming out of New York is unbelievable. It seems a great deal of fans hate him for whatever reason, the guy has been the best player in the game since he came into the league so it might just be jealousy. I guess if a player is young, making a s*** load of money and good looking they're bound to be hated.

May 25, 200619 yr If you take the 5 Sox players who voted "for" AJ and add the entire 25 man playoff roster of the Angels, that would account for a large portion of the AJ vote tally.

May 25, 200619 yr Did you guys see the Sun-Times this morning? The Sox are having a field day with this one, razzing AJ. Apparently most of them voted for him too (LOL!) and supposedly even HE voted for him! Funny.
