  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) I didnt read the whole article, but I wonder how much money has went into the hunt over the last 30 years... You know, I really wonder what the hell it matters where he's buried, at this point.
  2. "The Tigers are about to get their test because they're facing Northeast teams in three of the next four series." And the White Sox, who have swept the Tigers this year, aren't a test? God, I hate ESPN.
  3. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Clemens is starting the day before Houston comes to Chicago. No rematch in the regular season. Heh. We've had some good fortune about us when it comes to missing excellent pitchers lately.
  4. Contreras: 5-0, 1.83 Byrd: 4-4, 5.22 I know it's a bit early, but I wanted to start this one. Let's say Au Contreras! to this losing streak, shall we?
  5. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) His scheduled return date to the 'Stros is June 22. And if I'm not mistaken, the week after that, Houston comes to the Cell. Possible Game 1 rematch? Contreras v. Clemens? I'd like that. Hopefully it isn't Garland versus Clemens!
  6. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) ESPN's Cy Young Predictor has Webb, Glavine, Tom Gordon, Arroyo, and Billy Wagner in that order. In case anyone is interested. Contreras is very much getting f***ed by the lack of run support. El sigh.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) Why would you want an automatic out batting 5th right behind your second best hitter? THE ELEMENT OF SURPRISE!!
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) The offense better pick it up and score some runs. Jose should of won his last start, but due to the offense sleepwalking, he got a ND. Three, by my count. One was cost him by a lack of offense, first, and his first inning jitters (against Cleveland) second, although THAT was only two runs, and then by the bullpen. His next one was cost him by Guillen taking him out against the Cubs and Mackowiak's inability to read the ball off the bat. And his last one? The offense. Poor Jose. :
  9. I dislike Hawk for all sorts of reasons -- his Stretch call is grating, and the stories of him running Wimpy out of town by mocking him for being molested as a child really bother me. His "This guy's the best I've ever seen" bulls*** bugs me, but he is just an announcer. For what it's worth, he doesn't really affect my enjoyment of the game, but if I could listen to someone else's announcers, I would. (Well, DJ's good, I like him.)
  10. QUOTE(T R U @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) Do you think Konerko could honestly play 3B for a few games? Move Crede over to SS and sit Uribe when this happens? Honestly, how much do you think it would cost us? Could he? Probably as well, at least, as Pablo plays Left. Will he? No, this is unlikely as anything. Guillen's not going down that road.
  11. I think putting Thome in for one third of the games is fine and well -- have him pinch-hit in the others. I worry about injury, too, but no more than I do with other players. Thome's not a Cub after all. He takes balls during batting practice and by all measures is in shape for it.
  12. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) Sure, if the rapist didn't admit to the crime. I'm wondering if the press are actually afraid to repeat the leaked information, despite the fact that it's common knowledge. Maybe there are possible legal repurcussions? I'm not sure of legal repurcussions, and I doubt that's it. It's just sugar coating by the media -- or, as some call it, "Objectivity." Bonds has never been tested positive, nor has he admitted to purposefully and knowingly taking them. Therefore, it's merely alleged. Just like you'd call the rapist an alleged rapist until he's convicted or confesses. That's why I'm not a reporter!
  13. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 30, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) he said they "slumped toward the end" Going 12-16 in August with a 7 game losing streak doesn't qualify as a slump? Yeah, thanks. Ozzie said we were stinking up the joint toward the end, and we were. Let's not bulls*** ourselves. We had a good second half, a half to be proud of, but there were some bad slumps at the end, too. QUOTE(knightni @ May 30, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) At least "Pettitte" is gone. :puke Small Wang Petitte! Sounds like a winner to me. Tigers play the Yankees. Moose is up. If we can win, we should be back up to half a game.
  14. I loathe Rick Santorum, but he's a gone goose.
  15. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 31, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) It is possible, but the bigger question is how many wins can Buehrle rack up? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Ummmmmmmmm, I've never been in a car crash. Does that mean they never happen?
  16. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) Our problems have nothing to do with the absense of Aaron Rowand. It was a satire.
  17. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 31, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) Bonds has already admitted to a grand jury that he used substances from BALCO that contained steroids. So why is the word "alleged" still used to preface his steroid use? BECAUSE IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, f***ER! HE DIDN'T KNOW! I've got no real clue, but it probably has to do with sugarcoating. Much like a defense attorney might say, in a rape trial, "The alleged rape occurred..."
  18. He's going to be a miserable man. He's a profound thinker -- and that's why he's f***ed. He looks to me like a Paul O'Neill Redux. Bush isn't going to change a damn thing because of him and don't you get fooled into thinking otherwise. Better men, smarter men, more moderate men have made it into his Cabinet only to be ostracized. There's no thought that matters more than Dubya's first impression, no argument stronger than one by Karl Rove. Don't bulls*** yourselves into believing he's a nice pick. It's a political pick, but it means s*** about policies. Cynical? No. I'm going by his track record. This is Paul O'Neill!! (Read The Price of Loyalty.)
  19. Maybe in a few years, but not in 2008. He'd never make it. However, of all the family, he's the smartest -- and the least electable. Funny how that works sometimes, isn't it?
