  1. That's why Anderson is in the lineup. That's why he should be.
  2. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 10:24 AM) That's a helluva lot of free time you got there. It really takes no time. I stuffed fifty ballots in ten minutes. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) Another 50 from me.
  3. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) I don't think anyone would deny that but IMO the best option is to play BA and let the rest of the line up pick up his lack of production rather than let Mac play and let his defense kill you late in the game. BA should come around but even if he doesn't I would rather have him in there than Mac. The offesive punch he gives you over BA is not enough to over come the defensive shortcommings. I agree with that, sure. But I still agree with SoxHawk about the graveyard. And I luuuv that expression
  4. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 06:31 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2469450 This is a good reason not to use Thome that much in the field during interleague play. Yeah. I'm done saying that Thome should be put on the field.
  5. QUOTE(bogie @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 10:05 AM) What is bad luck? Last year the kid gets called up to the majors. He sees one pitch in his major league career and it beans him in the head. He goes out for the year. 2 days ago the Cubs release him....... I hope everything goes okay for the kid.
  6. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) Anderson can't hit worth s***. Mackowiak can't field worth s***. Between them we have a CF platoon that plays like s***. While this isn't the biggest problem on this team, the people who pretend that everything is fine (or acceptable) in CF are whistling through the graveyard.
  7. I thought it was classy to give Vazquez the standing ovation.
  8. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 01:39 AM) Got in about 450 votes, trying my best. Don't stop!
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) Don't blame the wind DJ. Mackowiak looks bad centering himself under an easy popup because he's terrible.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Duh. He was talking about Abreu. I wasn't aware that indicated confusion (that, my boy, is hinted at by that little punctuation mark with the curved line and dot) was a valid prompt for rudeness.
  11. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 12:43 PM) You sit on the concourse? Doesn't that clog foot traffic?
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) I wonder what his relationship with Guillen is like. Rowand's? Very good.
  13. Highly unlikely, to be sure, not just because Garland has a no-trade clause that I don't see him waiving, but I'd love to see Rowand back on the southside.
  14. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) I think the ACLU is good because they take positions that a normal lawyer or law firm could not take. Yes they take extreme positions, but there are plenty of people out there trying to strip our constitutional freedom every day. One group dedicated to trying to expand constitutional protection's is not really going to hurt. As soon as I saw this thread, I knew that you'd be in it. I'm glad you're consistent! QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 09:34 AM) Some of the "kidf***ers, murderers and thugs" that the ACLU represents and works with: Rush Limbaugh Anyone under the age of 18 in Ohio (who are not necessarily guaranteed attorney access if tried as a juvenile) Handicapped people who can't gain access to offices in government buildings ACORN (A low and moderate income advocacy group) HIV patients having their medical records revealed without consent The Tabernacle Baptist Church of Eastpoint, GA Olivia Turton of Frenchtown, NJ (A second grader who wanted to sing a religious themed song at a public school talent show.) Seriously - who needs em? The ACLU does some good work but, perhaps, an equal amount of bad. Ultimately, it's a good thing that they're around, because when you launch lawsuits over every little thing that you consider an infraction of the Constitution, you're bound to get somethings right, sometimes.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 03:38 AM) This bill would totally nullify the will of the voters in the state. I can't believe anyone is endorsing this. Considering that California is almost always a guarenteed huge chunk of blue EC votes why aren't the Dems howling about this? Am I missing something here? It'll never pass. But I'm glad someone's looking at this the right way. (You, not the Californian Democrats.)
  16. Garland's had a good start and then a few bad ones all season now. I don't expect much from him, and whenever he doesn't completely wet the bed I'm satisfied.
  17. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) Dude, it's a fan poll. It doesn't make a difference what fans think in terms of the end of the season awards; it's voted on by writers. And just as you reasoned with Schilling over Count in April?!, Papelbon will have to keep up a similar pace through out Junel?!, Julyl?!, August?!, and September?! Oh, I misread -- I thought it'd been a sportswriter polls. Are you mocking me?! Boy, my feelings sure are hurt!
  18. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Cliff Politte was on the big screen talking about throwing away your garbage, etc. Anyways, at the end he said something of the sort, "Don't forget to always pitch in." I thought those words were ironic for someone who lives by pitching off the outside corner.
  19. I don't take hope in this. At the end of April, they had Schilling over Contreras? At this point, with the win difference, it's reasonable to conclude that, but at the end of April?! I do like the Thome trend, and that would be awesome to have another MVP on the Southside. As far as AL Rookie of the Year, it'd be a travesty if Papelbon didn't get it. That kid is a beast. I've got a friend who asks me to watch Red Sox games with her when they're on nationally, and I always get a kick out of watching Jonathan pitch.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 08:40 AM) I'll be at the game, sitting during the wave. Maybe I just don't pay enough attention to the fans, but I've never seen the wave performed at a Sox game, and I typically sit out on the concourse in Center or Right. That said, I'm looking forward to Vazquez pitching.
  21. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) You've got to believe our starting rotation will kick ass and dominate through August and September and we'll still win it going away. But because of no Hermy and no Rowand we are definitely a worse team than a year ago. p.s.es that have nothing to do with this thread: Jamie Moyer just 2 hit the s*** Royals. How old is he? 48? p.s. Frank Thomas is starting to put together a decent season. He's got 11 homers and is starting to hit. Not that I want him but it's obvious our medical staff was wrong in thinking he was finished. I'm happy for Moyer. At least something good happened today to one of my favorites.
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) Then throw Jim Thome out there. Nice jump from discussing Mackowiak not being able to read balls to saying we should put Thome there, sarcastically. Last time I checked, corner outfielders were supposed to know how to judge a ball's jump, too.
