QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Can Thornton be the hero again? I'd accept one run from him here, considering the spot he's been put in. But I've got a lot of faith in the kid. -

I hate that Red Roof Inn commercial with the balding, huge foreheard guy who is going down and says, "How low can you go!" -

Throw Jose out there for one more, at least. -

This is why I don't buy Wang as a viable option. At all. -

Hahahaha! That doesn't look like a homer to me. We'll see the replay, of course. -

Barely missed a homerun. 3-2. Excellent. With Jose picking up his game in the second, it's looking better. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) I had a bad feeling about his performance once I saw the mention of the unexplained velocity dip last start. I'm not sure if it's physical or mental, but Contreras is missing something right now. I'll bet he's fine for the rest of the game. Like with his first start against Cleveland. -
QUOTE(sti3 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) To deny a guy his possibly only shot at playing in the All-Star game, which he's probably dreamed of since he was a kid will do a lot to sabotage the team's position in these offseason contract talks of which you speak. If Ozzie feels he deserves to go but denies him a spot cause of these concerns, well, that will be just cruel and IMO counterproductive wrt:retaining him on the ballclub. Yeah, I don't see Guillen denying Crede a spot for that reason. But I'm not sure he'll be able to get him on as is.

QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) But I'm going to that series.. I want to see Thome! Eh, you are right. As much as I will regret not seeing Thome, he really shouldn't be in the field, just as a precaution. But he will be, probably, so you may very well get to see him. -
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) It's a no-brainer. Why attack the S of L or the heart of international diplomacy, when Omaha still has gondolas? You've got it.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) We don't need a third party to "help" govern, we need a third party "TO" govern. I stand by my previous statement. No one party governs the entire nation unless they control both the Active branches (non-Judicial) by over sixty members in the Senate, to block ANY filibuster. Otherwise, they all have to work each other and help one another by passing bills along, joining in coalitions, etc. etc. If you think any one party should fully govern, then go right ahead.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) It's time for Count to get his fastball up to the mid-90's again and stop all this talk about the Cubans' velocity being down. I'm looking forward to Count blowing 'em away again tonight with lots of heat (and just the right number of sinkers). I missed his last start as far as this board is concerned, but I can't for the life of me remember people talking about his velocity being down. Hell, I can't remember any criticism of the Count this year, or worry (aside from the injury). But welcome, welcome. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) I'm worried we'd give up an awful lot for Izturis. Yeah, that'd be a No No. I'd imagine that Uribe'd be packaged in the deal, but I don't really like this unless it comes cheap.
-
No, it isn't. Well, a caveat: it's okay, IMO, if a third party pushes the issue of energy independence like the Progressives did political reform. But do we need a third party full-time to "help" govern? God no.

Iraq veteran sues Moore over 9/11 film
Gregory Pratt replied to Goldmember's topic in The Filibuster
I don't think Moore is liable here for anything, but I do think that he's a dishonest fat bastard and I did object to his use of this footage when the first objections were sounded about this long ago. -
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion..._columnists-utl It's a good article about why this doesn't mean a damn thing.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) I'm guaranteeing a win tonight. What does that mean? Well to be honest I have no f***ing clue what it means, but we are going to get this damn split, then come home and crack some skulls on this upcoming homestand. I feel good everytime Jose is on the mound. -
Who sits out during Interleague play?
Gregory Pratt replied to The-Legend-Of-Pujols's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports Chicago White Sox 1B Paul Konerko will sit to let DH Jim Thome play during interleague play in National League ballparks, where the designated hitter rule won't be of use. "There's no way I'm going to sit this guy," manager Ozzie Guillen said of Thome, who leads the Sox with 20 home runs. "I already talked to Konerko about that, and he's willing to do what I want him to do. That's why I think it's easy to manage this club. Nobody has an ego, and, obviously, when you're playing interleague, you want to be in the lineup." I like it. I'm less worried about Thome than most. I think he's a big boy, and if he couldn't physically do it, Guillen wouldn't make him. -
Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........
Gregory Pratt replied to Thunderin'Thome's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(greg775 @ May 31, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) Sticking him in lf right now would be a bad idea. Maybe we should trade either Fields or Crede in a blockbuster. Pick one and hope for Kenny magic. Maybe it's time for a White Flag trade. We'll never catch Detroit with the team we've got. -
