  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 08:37 AM) Are you saying you think Buehrle is likely to start doing drugs, and that that's a likely scenario -- that Buehrle might become a drug addict? Let me type real slow, so you will be able to understand. Drugs are very addictive and can ruin ANYBODY. That doesn't say or imply that MB will become a drug addict. But that also doesn't mean that MB is above becoming a drug addict.
  2. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) . All the people you mentioned had weird mechanical flaws and/or put a ton of stress on their arms, and most of them wound up with injury problems. Mark really doesn't have those problems. Did you ever see Gooden in 84-85? He was a poster boy for great mechanics. Know what the hell you're talking about before talk. And anybody, even those with great mechanics can have injury problems. Look eight miles north at Chewing Gum Dump and #22.
  3. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) If you're saying that MB will suffer a similiar fate bacause he's similiar to those guys--you are dead wrong. MB is in his 7th MLB season first off, so I'm not sure where the "3-5" good years thing comes in. Ok, the guys you compared him to: Doc Gooden has drug problems--hard drug problems--he is not a good comparison. Frank Viola was a damn good pitcher. 9 times over 200ip, and a career ERA+ of 113. Heck, he pitched over 250IP 5 times. Not a HOFER, but certainly a good player, with a long and solid career. If MB has a Fran Viola career that would be awesome. Martinez only made it over 200IP 4 times in his 13 year career, and finished with a 105 ERA+--he is a decidely mediocre pitcher. His first 5 full seasons--yes, he did flash some potential. However, he didn't do it the level MB is doing it, not even close. His age 26 season he had an ERA+ of 99. MB's age 26 ERA+ was 143. Screw the other two guys, your argument was poor, I hope this proves it. Are you stupid? Where did I say MB would suffer the same fate? But nobody is above becoming a drug addict. But MB has to prove he can pitch well into his 30's before we talk about him being a HOF or winning 300 games. All those people mentioned showed tons of flashes. But they faded out real quick. Whether it was in their 3rd year or their 7th year. Do you even know who Vida Blue is? Without looking at baseballreference.com?
  4. Dwight Gooden, Vida Blue, Frank Viola, Ramon Martinez, Britt Burns, and even Larmar Hoyt who are they? Pitchers who had good to great 3-5 years to start their careers but then things didn't work out for them to have long productive careers.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) I'll jump in late on that one as well. $30 is a steal for all you can eat and drink in 3 hours time. Sorry but all you can eat and drink doesn't excite me. I don't want to go the way of Bob James, Lamar Hoyt, David Wells and other fat Sox players.
  6. I agree that the $30 just for the party is a bit steep. I mean it's not like they are serving filet mignon or anything like that.
  7. QUOTE(rventura23 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) that would be a sad day, but I think we'll keep Mark in silver and black When did Buehrle play for the Raiders? Is he the backup QB?
  8. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) My sister in law is friends with Bill Veeck's daughter. She received a World Series Ring from the White Sox. I thought it was a class move on Jerry's part and worth mentioning. I thought I read that the Comiskey family also received WS rings from JR.
  9. Speaking of ketchup, I heard in Canada there is a ketchup flavored Lay's potato chips!!! Damn those Canucks are weird.
  10. I can't believe we have four pages of crap about what some people put on a hot dog!!! WTF? I sat near this big fat jerk on Opening Day who was felt he was entitled to the best seats and to every give away because he went to about 40 games a year. I told him I deserve a medal for coming all the way from California to Opening Day. That and a couple dozen hot dogs shut him up.
  11. I was watching a reun of MASH and talked about a place in Chicago called Adam's Ribs. Is there such a place like Adam's Ribs in Chicago? I think it was Dearbon and State St. And before anybody says don't believe everything you see on TV, there is actually a Packo's Hot Dogs in Toledo.
  12. What a weekend. I got to Indy late Thursday. Indy has to be the most boring village in America. I just hung out on Friday. Saturday I went to the games where I met some friends who were going to Chicago on Sun. Sunday rolls around we leave Indy at 9am. We get to Chicago at about noon. I head to Grandstand to pick up a couple t shirts and a new cap. I ask people if they have extra tickets and nobody has them. So I head over to the stadium and a couple scalpers want $200 and I tell them screw you. So we head over the Weber Grill. One of the waitresses there notices my White Sox cap and says Go Sox and asks if I'm going to the game. I said I want to but I don't have any tickets yet. She asks how many do I need? I only need one. She comes back with a ticket in Sec 147 and only wants face value for it. So I'm thinking I maybe getting ripped off or the ticket is a fake. But I figure if it is, I can come back to the Weber Grill and at least say something to the manager. We eat lunch, decent food but nothing great. I head off to the game while my friends check into the hotel. I take the train to game and I ask people on the train does this ticket look real? They say yes. So I figure I'm ok. I get there and ask some scalpers what they want and prices are still way too high. So I get in line and sure enough the ticket is fine. I would have paid $150 for tickets anywhere and I get a ticket for $45. Awesome. And there was two good looking girls in the row in front of me. We had a few beers together. I loved the fly over and seeing the banners was just awesome. I stayed through the rain delay (beer sure does taste better when it's raining) and get back to our hotel around 2am. Then I had my worst nightmare. Too bad I was wake to see it Monday night as my Bruins got their butts kicked.
  13. I'm going to the Final Four in Indy. I really want to go to Opening Night on Sunday. Not worried about getting a ticket, scalpers will be all over the place. Plus I'm working with house money after making very good money selling my regional tix. But I've never even been to Indy so not sure how long of a drive that is. And I have heard that it will be a pain in the butt to get to Chicago on the Dan Ryan due to construction. So my question is what are my best options of going from Indy to Chicago on Sun? I was thinking of leaving around 11am Sunday morning and figure that shouldn't be a crashing any tailgate parties with my fellow White Sox fans! So any info will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks and Go Bruins and White Sox.
