Gosh, I sure hope that we rush Peavy right back in there. It's really worth it.

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) I can't wait until he is off this team. He is this year's Nick Swisher. Never thought that equating those 2 would make sense. But it does.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) "It's up to Scott Linebrink to hold them," Steve Stone. MWAHAHAHAHAH. This team is playing like they know they're done. Good thing we brought in Pena for these types of situations . . . f*** this bunch of f***ing losers.

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) He is one of the worst players in baseball the second half. Hate his defense; hate his hitting; hate his mental fragility once Rios got here; hate his body language and moping. Bye.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:49 PM) Typical August sox offensive threat. Get men on, pucker up, and swing for the fences. The only way guys can score is if the ball flies over the fence. Thank god in 05 we had such a lead. You're right. It's a loser-choker mentality. I'm not afraid to say it. I think it's accurate. I've watched these s***bags enough to come to that conclusion.

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:48 PM) Turning point was the great AB by Dye... Did I mention that I've grown to despise Dye? Yeah, just wanted to mention it again.

I know I'm not crazy, but Rios's swing looks absurdly slow in the last week -- like, slower than it did when he first joined the team. How can that be possible?

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) Pathetic execution with men on by our vets. Big swings, people trying to be a hero. Instead of playing within themselves and being selfless. With the exception of 2005, any of us could've posted this every single year since 2003. And it's only gotten worse since 2006. It's a f***ing joke that our "aggressive" general manager has (1) continuously built teams that have this exact, same losing dynamic; and (2) has taken 4 years to get out from under that dynamic, at its worst, since Thome got here. (And, yeah, I'm aware of Thome's OPS.)

I've grown to despise Jermaine Dye. Big f***ing crybaby ("I don't know what to think about us getting Rios.") and can't hit either.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) The day Rios came to the Sox, Dye's ticket out of town was punched. Watch him sign with Texas in the offseason. If it wasn't, I'd have to say that the way he's gone into the tank, mentally, since Rios got here . . . well, that sure hasn't been impressive.

Is Ozzie Too Complacent ?
QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Moving JD and Paulie down in the lineup would be fine. Benching them wouldn't. Not only are our other options inferior, but treating veterans who have carried this team on their backs for years that way would reflect poorly on the franchise. What reflects badly on the franchise is having a team that I have never once thought of this year as a fighting, resilient group. Something about this team -- at its core -- is just not right. (I can't believe it. No sooner did I write this than Hawk actually says that they've been resilient all year. Hawk, as usual, is full of it.)

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) He never had a chance in that at-bat. Never. I don't know; he put a pretty good swing on that last one, drove it the other way. I can't get upset with that. It's the flailing at balls in the dirt and GIDP by trying to pull the ball -- Konerko/Dye -- that usually drives me crazy.

If Bard's job was to come in and hit Konerko in the arm, he was very successful.

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) I don't like a soft fly to shallow right-center. Bright side, my friend. Pods did not get doubled off.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) When he steals, how many times is he in easily? Its very rare. When he was with Milwaukee he had a great pct. Pods is older and daintier now.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Hell of an AB by Kotsay. I thought Hawk said he was going to be a big reason we made the playoffs? If I was Dye, I would be so pissed off. If you were Dye, you'd be incapable of becoming that interested in anything. Unless Alex Rios were coming. Then you'd register a pulse.

I actually think that this is one of those times when someone needs to be fired, cut or screamed at.

O's @ Sox 8-23 1:05 CSN
Now, here's one of those days -- and performances -- that could reignite that old debate about whether it makes sense to boo your own team . . .
