QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 11:07 PM) Mark Buehrle has balls of stone. Its just that Alexei Ramirez has hands of stone. Right. From Lexei's hands to Mark's balls. -

QUOTE (GordoTheGreat @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 11:01 PM) This is going to nip us in the butt, either way. Wait. Will it nip us in the butt, or will we nip it in the bud? -

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:59 PM) I think with everyone getting caught up in the acquisition of Alex Rios is almost everyone forgot about the fact that he sucks. LOL -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) Do Hawk and Stoney even bother to check where the defenders are positioned? Beckham and Thome's were going right to the infielder regardless of the hop. Hawk's just excited to repeatedly use the word "Kismet." It's very exciting, sort of like the '67 pennant race. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) Nix got a hit. Why do you have a problem with him? Because he hit a slow grounder that just as easily could've been at the shortstop, leaving Kotsay stuck at 2nd. His job was to hit to the RIGHT side. Happy that he caught a break, but that's all it was. -

QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:43 PM) Usually I'm the first to defend these guys, but there is no excuse for that. You HAVE to get that run in with less than 2 outs. Ugh. Well, the lack of execution started with Nix hitting a ball to short and not the the right side. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) Ugh, shut up Hawk, it was a routine double play. Pods really blew that inning. Now Hawk'll have 'em cue the damn thing a hundred times, seeing it hit the mound and stuff. Ugh. -

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) wow that ball died. Big park, lots of humidity -- but Kotsay's hit a few so far that sorta died in the outfield, even at the Cell. Anyway, the guy has a really nice approach up there. -

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) if you throw a ball with bigger velocity, it will travel more distance And if you throw it with less velocity, you prance about in centerfield for the Chicago White Sox. -

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) Ok. Hawk says Ichiro has the best arm in baseball "as far as velocity & accuracy." What else is there? LOL -- I was thinking the same thing. Let's see, best arm in baseball "as far as making a club sandwich." There, that's different. A guy who can really lay out those coldcuts. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) Rios batting 3rd and playing right field is probably the worst utilization of his abilities. Let's hope this isn't the norm with him this season. Makes me laugh. Seems very true. I enjoyed this post, all around. Many thanks. -

QUOTE (joeynach @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) Well what are u supposed to think, Ozzie has practically already said sometimes he makes decisions based on his gut. That means u will tend to see some WTF type decisions from him. Oh, I don't disagree. I just think it's pretty funny. -
QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Christian Marerro is 4-4 with 2 singles, 1 2B and 1 HR today. OPS of .880 in 171 PA so far in Birmingham. He might be a legitimate prospect. I'd been watching his numbers for awhile and compared him to Brandon Allen a few weeks ago. With the exception of walks, something Allen only got better at this year, the comparison is pretty favorable for Marerro, based just on the numbers. Can Marerro actually play first base decently?

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) Attention Soxtalk: Chris Getz has a groin issue. That is why JaYson Nix is playing. That is all. The fact that folks didn't automatically think something was wrong with Getz says a little something about how little we trust Ozzie's lineups. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) Should be why? To put an injured Q in RF maybe 3 times a month? Thats just not smart. If you want Rios in CF, PODS is sitting. Thats how it is this season. The only way Rios is in CF and PODS is on the field is if Q is hurt or sitting, and even then Ozzie probably would want to keep PODS out of LF. You know what it says to me? Dewayne Wise is going to be on this team, come hell or high water. He'll be a late-inning defensive replacement in center, with Pods moving to left. -
