Biden's child care plan that was just announced is actually pretty strong on this stuff. Tax credits or direct subsidies for pre-K school, and expanded child tax credit too. We're paying $2500/mo right now for child care for two kids. $30k/year! We're lucky in that we can shoulder that burden, but raising children in this country is incredibly, unnecessarily expensive.

Yes? Even if it was only 50% efficacy, that's still much better than 0% efficacy you have right now. People with underlying medical conditions are in the first tier because of their heightened risk of severe illness or death if they develop COVID. I'm not aware of any data to date that linked reduced vaccine efficacy to specific underlying medical conditions. There wouldn't have been enough people with enough of the same underlying conditions in the trials to date to really know that.

Just want to go back to this. There may be a difference between Trump and Cruz--true believer vs. cynical asshole. But that's where the differences end. At best, Cruz fully knows he's been helping spread the Big Lie about the election being illegitimate and stolen for months, and that his votes last week were the culmination of that. There was no legitimacy to any of his claims, and his concerns were all bad-faith bullshit. It was mountains of red meat for the conservative base and helped further the lie that Trump didn't actually lose and that Biden/Harris are illegitimate. There's no way to differentiate the effect their actions have just because their motivations may be different. Nobody should humor any of his bullshit, his fake calls for "election integrity." He doesn't care. This was entirely about attacking Biden's legitimacy and endearing himself to the Trumpist base.
