Spell out what you think is *really* happening, raBBit

QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 07:34 PM) That's strange. First hours of the news cycle had her camp saying she was overheated. Yes, it can be both, the pneumonia exacerbated by the heat. Hmm why is it partisan to go hard after one candidate in the race for President of the United States it is a mystery. Wikileaks is Assange's operation so he's responsible for it whether or not his personally posted (and then took down) that dumb poll.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 07:11 PM) Tim Kaine would probably poll better than Hillary. Maybe she's playing the sick card. 4d intergalactic chess Yeah, that's really the worst case scenario, right? Instead of Least Liked Candidate ever versus Second Least Liked Candidate ever, we get Trump running against Kaine. Obviously impossible to predict exactly how Hillary dropping out would play out especially depending on the timing, but it wouldn't necessarily mean President Trump. And let's say "candidate health" becomes a big issue--Trump hasn't released his medical records, he's a huge germophobe who has to fly home to NYC almost every night and has a garbage diet, and he recently nodded off in the middle of his Nieto press conference. It wouldn't necessarily be a boon for his campaign for health to become the focus. Running the presidential candidate gauntlet of everyday being 18+ hour days while having pneumonia must absolutely suck. relatedly, assange is definitely not a partisan hack: https://twitter.com/BuzzFeedAndrew/status/7...src=twsrc%5Etfw

This won't matter in a few days tops. It's not going to cause anyone who is planning on voting Clinton to suddenly consider voting Trump or being okay with him as president. Crazy alternate theory: this was a brilliant staged plan to get the irredeemable comments out of the news cycle!
-
They're saying it was heat related. I've seen people in their early 20's collapse from it worse than that

Is there any way to "schedule" a light to turn on and off at certain times? It'd be nice to have the upstairs hallway light kick on in the morning because the switch is on the other side of the hallway from the bedroom and we trip over cats every day.

that's what she said

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 07:58 AM) The fact that people are realizing Hillary is just as vile as Donald Trump is quite refreshing actually. I don't see how one remark she quickly apologized for equates to the last 18 months of Trump. That sort of false equivalency is dangerous.

I don't think anyone is accusing you of supporting Trump, db. You've been pretty clear on that before many times. I don't see anyone attacking you here like that, and I apologize if my post came across like that. And you're probably not wrong about this being a politically damaging thing for her to have said. She's already backed off and apologized likely for that very reason. What I'm saying is that she isn't wrong to say that a sizeable chunk of the support for Trump is for deplorable reasons if not people who are irredeemably deplorable. Watch nyt video of supporters at his rallies, look at the alt right types who support him, look how many of his supporters think Obama is a Kenyan Muslim. It feels like some of the reaction to this is that it's worse to call someone racist than it is to actually be racist. Edit I actually hadn't heard the irredeemable part originally, that is worse than the "basket of deplorable" But you're also right that, really, this isn't the thread for that even if those de facto rules have broken down in both threads lately.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 02:14 PM) She said half of his supporters. To imply that many Americans are irredeemable is a pretty toxic statement from someone running for President. Apparently she agrees because she is already trying to walk it back. No doubt this is gonna hurt her in the polls, she didnt need this. It may nor have been politically correct, but look at the poll results for people who support Trump. This is a guy who started off his campaign by calling Mexican immigrants murderers and rapists, and before that he was the leading birther in the country. White nationalism forms a significant core for him.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) Yeah and I wouldn't mind that. How much of China's economy do we account for? It's time to start exerting some pressure on them to kick NK into gear. I think a few million SK's would mind being killed. edit: lol, your edit covers that Plus the risk isn't just that there would be economic concerns but that something with China could turn hot, which would be awful. I'm not too concerned about terrorists aquiring nuclear weapons because actually transporting, maintaining and using them is something that's really more in the realm of what a nation-state can do, not what guerrilla-style terrorist organizations could do. Even NK's nukes aren't really a threat to anyone unless they can put it on a rocket. Proliferation to other nations would be a bigger concern, but I'm not sure who else wants them at this point that would be interested in NK's tech. They're both a powerful asset and a huge albatross. This is mostly just spitballing though!

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 03:46 PM) It's a total kick the can down the road mentality there. There's no easy solution, but doing nothing and watching them continue to build more sophisticated bombs and missiles to deploy those bombs isn't a sound strategy. "Doing something" forceful means pissing off China and probably sacrificing millions of South Koreans in Seoul, though.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) Thats fine, Im just not in the business of telling other people how to raise their kids. Personally I think every parent should do it but without a horse in the race its not really an issue I care to debate. It's not even really about your individual child as it is about herd immunity and protecting those that can't be vaccinated for whatever reason.

To be fair, any of us would go crazy if we had spent the entirety of the last several years trapped in two rooms in the Ecuadorian embassy, never being able to step outside.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) I always think it's funny when people say this. Of course Putin is a strong leader! He's basically a dictator and he's either killed or banned his opposition, made all media state-controlled, and ended private polling in his country. That's the whole point of being a dictator! To want to emulate this says... a lot A whole bunch of journalists have been murdered over there, and 90% of the cases are "unsolved" Speaking of state-controlled media, Donald Trump was talking with Larry King on RT America yesterday. Didn't know Larry had fallen that far.

stop listening to talk radio

It'll be hard to ever top Nixon. The mam was insanely paranoid and used so many government functions and on top of that his own private goon squad to go after his enemies. Plus the whole illegal war in Cambodia and Laos thing. What do you guys think about Trump bribing the Florida AG to drop an investigation into his scam Trump university? How does that rate on the corruption scale?
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) You're always on one side of the aisle so I don't have high hopes for your objectivity. Here's Hillary, always telling the truth. I didn't claim that she's always told the truth. Just today I said her having a private server to avoid FOIA requests was crappy. That still doesn't make her the most corrupt politician in a generation or even the most corrupt person running for President right now.
-
Did I miss something on that celebration penalty? What was excessive?
-
No more corrupt than the average politician, probably less so given how many investigations she's been subjected to that have found no wrongdoing. Just look at the latest string of them: up to about a baker's dozen House committees investigating Benghazi that completely unsurprisingly have found nothing, more recently a bunch of reports about how Huma blew off some people asking for special access and how scandalous it was for Clinton to meet with a nobel peace prize/presidential/congressional medal winner. Feel free to list specifics if you want, but since you already went to the Whitewater well, I don't have high hopes.

WIKILEAKS WITH ANOTHRE BOMBSHELL!! (she was going to the UN that day, but glad to see Assange continuing to flush his reputation down the toilet but jumping on the EARPIECE! conspiracy bandwagon)

My wife got me an Amazon Echo for my birthday. What cool things can I do with it?
