I think he's saying that the RNC types are giving an "anti-Hillary, i'll support the Republican nominee-type," not speaking for himself, and that they wouldn't necessarily go along with his actual policy positions if he were elected. Still, the executive branch is plenty powerful on its own.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) You can disagree with the protest's tactics, you can disagree with the protestor's message, you can disagree with Donald Trump's tactics or message as well. But if your anger over last night is expressed as "What about the first amendment", I ask you to tell me when the city of Chicago or the US Federal Government acted to declare that event illegal. If the President or Mayor stepped in and said "he can't hold this rally because I disagree with him" then you have a correct point. But if that did not happen, then you need to go review the First Amendment, because you haven't understood it. Plus, you know, all of the things Trump himself has said, done and encouraged. Beating up protesters *edit and conservative media reporters!, banning people based on religion, loosening libel laws to sue media that say mean things about him. Protesting a white nationalist rally doesn't even come close to the free speech issues coming straight from Trump's campaign.

lol if you think a single group organized the response to a white nationalist rally and that there weren't a bunch of different groups there.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) The protests were organized by his group. Trump supporters are so gullible. Chicago in particular has as strong left political base, especially when it comes organizing and protesting.

I wish it was like the old days when we could rough up protesters and send them outta here on stretchers! Protesting is part of political speech, Trump canceled his rally because he's a coward.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) You seem to be happy that violence and threats to security disrupted our political process. I'm happy protesters took a stand against fascism and a candidate openly encouraging violence against them. That trump and his supporters ended up being such cowards is on them. Protest is as much a part of the political process as a rally. Eta besides it's trump supporters that have turned his rallies violent for a few months now, and with trumps encouragement.- 2016 Republican Thread

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) He actually said he was worried for his supporters. He was right. I was scared as hell, not going to lie. His supporters are as big of cowards as he is. Just fine with violence when there's only a handful of protesters, run scared when there's actual opposition.- 2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 10:41 PM) Definitely strategy one that "failed" and will end up working better for him. For the primaries yeah probably.- 2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 10:41 PM) Fair. Maybe it was weak for Chicago. But violence still isn't something to accept or make light of. It was a scary situation. Police disagree, and trump clearly lied and was scared off by protesters. Not sure how tough of a leader he'd be.- 2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 10:32 PM) I was there man. There was nothing minor about this. For Chicago? Yeah, this was pretty mild and trump folded like a coward. Threats on his life? Can't appear on camera? Lol.- 2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 10:30 PM) So, sorry if this is dumb, but...if I am a registered democrat, can I pick a republican ballot on the 15th and vote for Kasich if I want? Or do I have to vote democrat? Illinois is an open primary, just ask for your desired ballot when you go to vote.- 2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 10:27 PM) "He said the department had sufficient manpower on the scene to handle any situation." There absolutely wasnt. Tough man trump wilted at some pretty minor protests. This is Chicago, that was nothing.- 2016 Republican Thread
