  1. Played for their jobs? Trust me, I'd want pretty much any one of their guys on the Sox. Don't cry over the Twins, they'd find work (probably for a less asshole of an owner). Anyone who automatically thinks we can run away with this division is doing something VERY stupid by overlooking a very solid team. We can beat them, but it is far from a guarantee. True, but they can't play with that same emotion back to back years. We walked into last season with alot of question marks, while they were pretty solid top to bottom. Believe me, I would definitely not underestimate the Twins, but those question marks we had last year, I feel pretty confident we answered them the 2nd half of last year, during the early parts of the winter meetings, & just this past Wednsday. The ball is in the Sox' court. So, while not underestimating the Twins, I really like our chances of running away with this division.
  2. Everybody remember one thing: The Twins played the entire season on 2 key factors: Adrenaline & Momentum. With the prospect of the team being contracted, the players literally played for their jobs, & their fans responded in tow. Yes, the Twins are more of a fundamental team than the Sox, but, they are also prone to error as well. This year should be different, we have a new baserunning coach (Santana, also 1B coach), new 3B coach (Kimm), & hopefully that itself will make a difference. Don Cooper seems to have the pitching staff's collective heads on straight, while trying to undo the s*** that Nardi f***ed up. I also believe alot of the Twins had career years, & last year some of them (Mintkiewicz, Koskie, Guzman) struggled at many points of the year. Who we really need to focus on against the Twins are the players like Rivas, who for some reason had our number constantly, & while we may have solved Joe Mays, we really, really, really need to solve Kyle Loshe, who looked like Greg Maddux every time he pitched against us. Radke and Milton are beatable, & that pen can't do that s*** back to back years, & I agree, Guardado had a career year, if he gets 30 saves this year, I'll be suprised. This division is ours for the taking, the Sox just have to remain focused, if they do so, they can run away with it.
  3. Well now that Rowand knows that the CF job is his this year, let's see if he can respond. In case he falters, we always have Borchard as a reliable option. I think with a full season though, Rowand should do pretty well. But having Borchard does make it a little bit easier.
  4. Maybe it's just me, but I think that this year, CLee is going to put up some monster numbers. Remember, he started to turn it on late in the year. He is a legitimate .300/30HR/100RBI guy per year. And perhaps, maybe even a little bit better in LF this year. I think it's going to happen.

    Flash Gordon

Great Post. Just one thing I'd change though, don't give up Wunsch!!! A LH setup man is almost as valuable as a 15 game winner! And Wunsch might be one of the best in the business. You bring him in for one of those crucial 1 or 2 lefty hitters, & let him do his thing. Then, turn it over to Gordon in the 7th, Marte in the 8th, & Koch in the 9th. And if Wunsch is expendable down the road, let's see what other teams would be willing to bargain in return. Rather than that, again, great post, & I'll take it a step further. If everything jells, we could be looking at a possible 100 win season, then make those god-awful Yankees sorry that they didn't pay attention to Colon a little bit more. The World Series: The 86 year drought could be coming to an end. AWESOME!!!!

    Flash Gordon

Actually, when I heard about this signing, we hadn't traded for Colon yet, which meant Osuna was still on the team. Knowing that the Sox already had 1 solid closer (Koch) and 2 potential closers (Osuna, Marte), I can't believe he wouldn't sign with them, & then b**** about closing knowing damn well that would be out of the question. If it's a 1 year deal, perhaps he wants to showcase his talent for other teams possibly looking for a closer for 2004. But right now, he would be a good setup man, & wouldn't even consider him as the closer unless Koch & Marte completely tanked, which isn't likely.
  7. Perhaps, but the Dodgers? The Dodgers??? Don't think so!

    SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!
  9. I heard the Sox had signed him, pending a physical. Has anyone else heard any word whether he signed or not?

    Buerhle quote

I'm as excited as everybody else that Colon is onboard, but Buerhle is still the #1 starter. He earned it over the last 2 seasons. I'm pretty sure even Colon would understand that.
  11. Check out what Tim Kurjkian of ESPN.com has as the best outfields in the game. Rating the Best Outfields And yet he thinks the trio of Sosa, Alou, & Patterson is better than Mags, CLee, & Rowand. This is the exact reason I hate those assclowns over there at ESPN. Boston's is better, hell no! The Reds? You gotta be kidding me! The Dodgers? Not a chance! Of all the baseball writers, Kurjkian has to be the worst. He never, ever gives the Sox any acknowledgement. If it weren't for Phil Rogers & Rob Neyer contributing, I might never read the MLB section at ESPN.com. The White Sox not having one of the best outfields. ABSURD!!!
  12. In regards to news, you're probably right. More than anything, it disgusts me to watch ESPN or read ESPN.com regarding their MLB coverage. The way it seems, when they report on MLB, it's usually the same damn teams (Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Braves, Dodgers, Phillies, Cubs), & I wish they would throw the White Sox a bone every now and then. It's biased coverage, IMO.
  13. And I sure as hell don't mean the Red Sox. There are other MLB teams besides the Yankees & Red Sox. Even on ESPN.com on the White Sox home page, they still have as their lead story, the proposed trade of Mags for Griffey Jr. Nothing as of late, not even Buerhle's rejected deal. ESPN is very biased towards the White Sox, & the city of Chicago in general. Thank goodness for sports talk radio and local coverage.
  14. Why am I getting the feeling that this will be Jack McDowell all over again. Black Jack should've never left the Sox, nor Alex Fernandez, or Mark Buerhle. I'm tired of seeing our starting pitching go and succeed elsewhere. Somebody get KW out of there. This is getting on my nerves now.
  15. Just registered today, & this board looks so much better than the MLB sponsored White Sox board. This board reminds me of the Chicago Bears message board, but this one allows you to say whatever you want (not that I'll be using any type of obscene language ). Cool. A board for White Sox fans. Simply awesome.

    baseball video games

The best baseball video game would incorporate High Heat's engine, ASB graphics, & WSB extras (deep Franchise mode). That would be the perfect game;)
  17. If CLee comes back strong this year, what do we do with Borchard? Oh yeah, Hello everybody!!!
