  1. I heard specifically on Mac, Jurko, & Harry that Guillen would be on. So I'm very pissed right now. But did anyone notice that both Rooney and Levine kept calling Terry Francona "Tito".
  2. John Rooney & Bruce Levine will host the show. Ozzie Guillen and that guy who manages for the "other" Chicago team (I know his name, just don't choose to say it) will be on there as well.
  3. That would be great. Guillen knows Garcia, & Don Cooper could work with Garcia and bring him along slowly. With Buerhle already the staff ace (by default) & Loaiza as the probable 2, Garcia wouldn't have any pressure of carrying a staff.
  4. I'd like to see Rauch and Cotts in the rotation. It's sink or swim time.
  5. I'm not about to start worrying yet. I wouldn't be surprised if KW doesn't want to pull the trigger on any deals in fear of getting burned again. If we gotta go into 2004 with what we got; so be it. Outside of Valentin, we didn't add too much in 2000 and we got 95 wins out of the deal. It's gonna be alright.
  6. 22,000 people on a 70 degree evening on Half-Priced night against the Boston Red Sox while still occupying 1st place and in a playoff battle. Meanwhile crosstown, the other Chicago team is in 3rd place, playing the last place Pittsburgh Pirates and gets a full f***ing house! Someone tell me: What's wrong with this picture?
  7. I don't know what it is about both of Reinsdorf's teams, but whenever someone leaves, it's always on bad terms. That's a very nasty reputation these organizations are getting. With that being said, if we have to lose Robbie to gain Colon, so be it. I'll take my chances with Willie and the continued struggle of watching him hit his weight, and hold out hope that the "potential" finally comes out this year.
  8. I think with the way this year turned out for both players, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Konerko & Koch come out in 2004 with a renewed sense of purpose and try to put up All-Star like numbers. Unless we're clearing salary altogether, I'm very skeptical of this possible trade for Perez. Lord knows the last thing I would want is to see Todd Ritchie: Part Deux. I'd rather stand pat and take our chances in 2004 with both on board.
  9. Didn't he get dumped by a few of his clients? Probably because he was pricing them out of legit contracts.
  10. Yeah. Or the Sox signed Jaime Navarro to a long-term deal on the basis of merit.
  11. To be honest, I'd love to see both of them lose and fall flat on their faces. Boston has lost my respect as they're simply now doing the same thing the Yankees do. The White Sox are trying to find a way to keep Mags, retain Colon, get another affordable starter & trade Konerko and have to do it with peanuts. And yet the rest of the league is held hostage while the 2 evil empires duke it out on the East Coast. Oh what poetic justice it would be to see neither one of those teams win it next October. Naturally I want the White Sox to win it all next year, but in the sad case that they come up short, I'll be happy to watch another team stomp and dismantle them................as long as that team doesn't come from the Northside or Minnesota.

    Royals

Gee, a Peter Gammons article mentioning his 2 favorite teams. What a surprise. The world ain't revolving unless there's news about the Yankees & Red Sox.

    2004 schedule

A minor complaint, but why in the hell do we always start the season on the road? If I'm not mistaken the last time the Sox opened up at home was the final year at Old Comiskey in 1990. Is there something written into the scheduling laws of MLB where the Sox always open on the road, and the Reds always at home? Also, 9 times out of 10, we always finsish on the road too.
  14. Call me optimistic, but I still think the Sox can win this division. Especially if Santana isn't available to the Twinkies right away. And if one of their other 2 main starters (Radke, Lohse) struggles, then they're really up a creek. Of course, Buerhle will need to be consistent the entire year, and Garland will have to step it up (Patience running seriously thin with him). But I think they can still pull it off.
  15. I'm getting that sinking feeling that what happened with the A's & Jason Giambi is gonna happen to us. Mags will leave via FA, and we get squat.
  16. They need to trade Valentin ASAP. If I see another bases-loaded strikeout, I'm gonna puke. :puke
  17. Voted no. Mags defense has improved tremendously, and honestly, if Ichiro weren't playing in RF, Mags would be the best defensive RF in the American League. Though Mags started slowly this year, he still picked it up and got it going in the 2nd half. Unfortunately, we can't compete with the East Coast boobs in NY & Boston payroll-wise, so I fear we'll lose him. But if I had my way, he would be here long term.
  18. ESPN and their East Coast bias strikes again. Not surprised in the least bit. Idiots. :fyou
  19. 2004 Ford C. Frick Award Honoree Voting Vote to put Hawk, John Rooney, & Ed Farmer on the ballot. They're the best in the business.

    5th Starter:

I actually signed up for this board on New Years Eve last year, but I haven't posted here in awhile.

    5th Starter:

Might not be a bad pickup.

    5th Starter:

I forgot to add Neal Cotts to that list.
  23. Do you guys think Rauch will step up and finally live up to the hype and grab the spot. Or maybe Schoenweis, since he was promised a shot at it during spring training. Or maybe even Josh Stewart, if that blood clot has cleared up. I know the Sox aren't gonna go the free agency route for it, so who has the best shot?
  24. Still Sox vs Cubs, but the damn Yankees are picking up speed, as are those loser Twinkies.
