Who else do they have? They've given away all of their prospects. They're gonna have a bunch of Crash Davises in their farm system before long.

Well at least Boers & Bernstein to a point defended KW when a Cubs fan called to gloat about what the Sox haven't done. They said that KW could probably do more if he had access to a $90 million payroll.

I'd love to see the reaction on Mariotti's face when Sosa's name is revealed and Frank's isn't. I'd love to know what spin he would put on to protect Shammy, while asking them to test Frank again and again.

Maddux signing with the Cubs. It was so funny that last night while listening to Julie Swieca's show on the Score, she originally said she was going to talk about Sox/Cubs season previews, but then she was instructed by Score program director Drew Hayes to talk strictly about Maddux joining the Cubs. And good Lord, you turn on ESPN 1000, the Score, hell even WBBM, and they're talking about Maddux! And of course, Mariotti, while gushing about Maddux, couldn't help but take another swipe at the Sox, mentioning that some caller called the whiner line on 1000 to complain to Mariotti about the Sox, and he goes "See, the White Sox, I just mentioned them", then continued with his Maddux lovefest. Not that the Sox have done anything to warrant talking, but enough's enough. It's gonna be a looooooong 6 weeks of spring training. The season can't start soon enough.

Just heard Michael Golenick do the 2pm Sportscenter update, and no Frank Thomas news. Maybe Shaer is a Scrubbie fan.

Not to wish ill will towards any of the Cubs, but I don't think they estimated what injuries can do to a club. Look at what happened to the Sox after 2000. Parque, Eldred, Wells, were all lost to injuries. The only saving grace to that pitching staff was that they found out their #5 pitcher ultimately could be their staff ace. If one of their pitchers get hurt, it could be a setback. 2 would be catastrophic. Like I said, no ill will towards them, but I hope they've taken that into account.

Nice. I was stupid enough to check each teams roster page instead of finding that analysis page.
-
The page I have cuts off after outfielders. Coaching staff and remaining info isn't shown.
-
Yankees Roster Check the bottom of the page where it lists the coaching staff. Oh, and don't bother to check for the Sox. We're the only team not listed. Typical.

The oldest team. Their average age is 31.5 according to ESPN.com. Seattle is 2nd oldest at 30.3, Boston 3rd at 30.1. The youngest are the Twinkies at 26.6, followed closely by the Indians at 26.7. Useless info for the day.

Oh yeah, one more tidbit from that horrible 30 minutes. He said the Sox could be on a similar "watch" with Thomas going to LA with new ownership just like the Cubs are whether Maddux is going to sign with them or not.
-
I think Lofton said he didn't like the clubhouse atmosphere in Atlanta. That's why he re-signed with the Indians when the opportunity arose.
-
That confrontation with Sosa happened after Game 6 (could've been Game 7) when, instead of trying to move runners into scoring position with 1 out, Sosa was swinging for the fences and ultimately struck out (what else is new). Lofton calls him on that, and he's the bad guy? Plus, I heard how he was somewhat of a problem in Atlanta, but he was only there for a year. Every other place he's been at (Cleveland, Sox, SF, & Pitt), there have been no problems. I guess Sammy is the alpha male there and anyone questioning his authority's gotta go.
-
That's why I said I turned away after 30 minutes. I was tired of hearing Murph and Fred talk Cubs baseball on the Score. Excuse me, but those are the only 2 sports stations in Chicago.
-
I tried to be impartial towards the clown. Probably more than anything else, I just wanted to re-affirm that he is a world class jackass.
-
Definitely White Sox fans. All the baseball fans sympathetically point out the Red Sox drought since '18 & the Cubs of '08, but the White Sox get virtually ignored even though we've waited forever too.

I'm not about to go on another "I hate Jay Mariotti" rant, but this time is proving with each day he is a Cubs apologist, through and through. I only listened to about a half hour because it was all I could stomach. Anyway, he spent the majority of that time talking about how Maddux needed to come to the Cubs based on what he could do for their rotation. That didn't bug me to much since he's been spewing that crap in his columns anyway. However, one quote he said kind of ticked me off: He said that Kenny Lofton was no "prize" in the clubhouse, especially if you asked Sammy. You've gotta be kidding me! Someone challenges the mighty Sosa in the clubhouse, and Mariotti has the gall to slam him? This guy has got to be the biggest member of the Sammy Sosa Ass-Licking society if there ever was one. Oh, and in his ususal Sox diss, he mentioned that since Evans was available again, they should go after him for the GM job. This guy doesn't quit.
-
That's good stuff.
-
Colon's strikeouts have gone down and his walks up. And Gordon is a curveball away from the 60 day DL. The only player the Sox lost who I wish they could've kept was Graffy, and he wanted a starting job, so you can't fault him for that.
-
Still, I wouldn't mind him helping out with the farm system.
-
That's what I'm thinking. Wasn't he the minor league director at some point in his career?
-
Well that Hundley for Karros/Grudzlianek deal was bad.
-
I didn't mean Evans coming back as a GM. I really think KW hasn't done that bad of a job. But he and Reinsdorf were pretty close, if I'm not mistaken. Reinsdorf might offer him a job out of loyalty.
-
Anybody notice when this deal went down, Pawtucket Gammons was nowhere in sight. When ESPN broke this Saturday, they had Kurjkian, Stark, Brantley, Reynolds, & Morgan commenting on it, but no Gammons. Perhaps he was mourning with the rest of Red Sox nation.
-
Since DePodesta got the GM job in LA, Evans is available again. If they had the opportunity, do you think Reinsdorf should bring him back to the southside in some form of capacity with the team?
