QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 12:24 PM) Even something as simple as reading an email is better on a bigger screen. Typing is 10000000000000000000000 times better on a bigger screen. If it cost more money I could see the argument against it, but when they're the same price there's zero debate. I don't really read a whole lot of emails when I am out and about. Texts, yes, emails, no. I think the argument against is still mobility/convenience.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 12:18 PM) I've got the Note 3 and the bigger screen is awesome. There's literally no downside. It fits in jean/work pockets just fine. You can use it with one hand unless you have freakish carny hands. If you're wearing tight pants, well, stop, and also put it in your jacket pocket or a bag. My wife was hesitant at first but now she loves it. Bigger is better. Honestly, when I am at home, at work or traveling, I almost always have both. And when I don't have both, such as when I am just out and about, I have little interest in doing anything with my phone that that a larger screen would add a significant advantage for.

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 12:16 PM) A 5.5" phone is no replacement for a tablet. With that said, larger phones will increase the demand for smart watches - the watch will seem more and more useful as the phones become unwieldy. One thing I do think is essentially true is this: there is a fight going on between phones, tablets, and laptops. Two can win, but one must lose. I'm not sure which it will be. Will our main computers become very tablet-like (Surface Pro) with larger phones, with no dedicated tablets? Will our phones get big and we stick with conventional laptops for heavier tasks, with no tablets? Will phones get enormous, essentially becoming tablets, while we leave the heavy tasks to laptops? Do we find tablets acceptable for computer tasks and ditch computers as we currently know them entirely? Why must one lose? Redundancy? If that becomes the case, than it will eventually be laptops that lose.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 12:12 PM) Psychological Effects One hallmark of an abusive partner is that he convinces the woman she is worthless or undesirable and that no one else would ever want her. The abuser often convinces the woman that the abuse is her fault, claiming that her behavior caused the abuser to react violently. Many abused women also feel ashamed of their situation. They fear the social stigma of the “battered wife” image and try to maintain a façade of normalcy, even if this means staying with the abuser. They were not married yet. That is the whole point I am making. But I certainly concede he may have somehow convinced her to marry him despite continuing trauma. And if that is the case, then she's not going to tell the truth, whether he is in the room or not. That's all I am trying to get across. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 12:06 PM) The never-ending waves of new phones kill me. The 5s isn't even a year old yet. Yeah, it's like this with everything these days...you should see the golf industry....companies release a new driver every 3 months. It is absolutely ridiculous.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) I dunno, he''ll be getting pretty old for a RB by the time he's allowed back in the league, even if it's next year. RB's are replaceable commodities these days. I agree, but I still think he will get a chance, even if a small one. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) I do. I've long been kind of anti super huge phone, for the same reasons you stated, but as of now you can either go somewhat big, or phablet big, otherwise you'll end up with older hardware like the iPhone 5s, or an older Samsung or HTC...it would appear now you're choice is between big and very big... If you go very big, I guess the advantage is you now don't need a tablet, and if you go big, you'll save some space... I'm kind of in the same boat as you on this... :/ I'm not a big person, so these big phones are kind of a lot for me. Yeah, I'll just get the smallest current iPhone they make.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 11:22 AM) My watch is pretty big, so I'm used to big/heavy watches. Apple's watch has 2 sizes, I guess, I kind of skimmed the demo (which is still going on), some of the software stuff looks good...but my issue with these watches is the battery life...and though I don't know Apples battery life, I'm betting it sucks. They give the pricing yet?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 11:17 AM) Gotta disagree with you here, with the sheer options, some of them looked really great. Still not my thing though, I have no use for a smartwatch. I'm interested in the biometric/health possibilities...

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) Holy s*** is the iWatch ugly. Looks just like the Samsung Gear Live. I thought I could count on a small, round, watch face. Aging poorly in a flagship is a Samsung thing. Awful software Pic? I am actually more interested in the watch than the phones...

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 10:38 AM) Sure - the question isn't whether she has or ever will so much as whether his presence and/or the memory of the incident continued to traumatize her Well that's why I was pointing out the marriage...one would think she wouldn't marry him if she was still traumatized...but I honestly have learned to not try and understand everyone...it's beyond comprehension in many instances. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) The phones are both very thin. The 4.7 inch one is about the same size as most 5 inch Android phones (Galaxy S4, Nexus 5), so there's some reference. I'll choose the smaller one when the time comes. I honestly still prefer the convenience of mobility over increased size. I rarely watch any kind of videos or anything on my phone, so screen size really means very little to me. I don't like the increase in width.

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 10:28 AM) Whether you consider him as someone who has repeatedly inflicted abuse upon her lies in whether you think she was able to just go back to normal after that night - whether the victim was able to simply move past it. Why? Victims of abuse move past it somehow all the time... -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 07:53 AM) When they reveal the 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhones today, people who said they'd never use anything close to that big (looking at you shack...) will probably eat their words. The 4.7 inch phone is about the size of a Nexus 5, haven't seen the 5.5 inch one yet, but I think it might actually be bigger than the current Note 3. Hah...I have no interest in that iPhone 6 Plus or whatever...how much bigger is the 4.7 than the current iPhone? I need the damn thing to fit into my pants pocket, and I wear tailored slim-fit pants. I can't have any other large objects in there; there is just only so much room...

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 10:16 AM) I just wonder if there is any kind of "statute of limitations" for new video evidence. Suppose that tomorrow somebody discovers a video from 2007 of Michael Vick killing dogs. Does he now get a new punishment because of public outrage? No. Notice the District Atty isn't trying to file new charges. But there is nothing saying the League can't revise their punishment. As I said yesterday, I think it is poor precedent, but there is nothing from stopping them from doing this. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 10:07 AM) I'm pretty sure there's something like a Godwin's law for argument via dictionary definition I think it's pretty clear Krush was using the term "abuser" to refer to the role of Rice in this specific altercation. Pretty sure most everyone already believes Rice fulfills the definition Badger is referring to, but to be fair, that is not how I interpreted Krush to mean it in that instance. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 09:48 AM) Based on him knocking her out. That reaction doesn't come from nowhere. I've been with my wife for over 10 years now, and I've never once laid my hand on her or even had the slightest urge to do so. edit: this is of course pure speculation! To me, it's more the dragging her out of the elevator that would make me skeptical, but I don't know anything about the guy. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt that perhaps he just completely snapped. I dunno. -

His contract was for 5/$35, with $15 million guaranteed, signed prior to the 2012 season. So they are essentially paying him $15 million for 2 seasons, I believe. Not the end of the world, contractually, for them. Also questionable whether they would have paid much more than that anyway moving forward, as he wasn't exactly still on an upward trajectory from a performance perspective. -

Back on P90X2...couldn't ever really get into 3...just didn't like the compromises they made to fit the routines into 30 minutes. PS3 pooped out on me a while back and my P90x2 is on blu ray, so had to wait til I got around to buying another blu ray player. Started yesterday with core and plyo this morning. Trying to build back my core a bit, increase overall strength, and improve flexibility for my golf game.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 08:23 AM) Sounds like something that would come from the NFL as part of the smear campaign. You absolutely cannot have the abuser in the room when asking the victim to recount the story when it comes to domestic violence. That's not hard to understand. I don't disagree as a matter of protocol. But looking back on it in regards to that being this humongous flaw in the process, I highly doubt it mattered. It's pretty clear this woman was not looking to tell the truth or jeopardize his career. To assume it would have made any difference is pretty difficult considering all the other circumstances. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 08:04 AM) I don't think the NFL wants to get into obstruction of justice legal problems. If the case was plead out, I don't know why it would be obstruction.
