QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 7, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) Just like what the Vikings did to Ponder? How many articles were out essentially calling him a p****? I don't think this is really a fair comparison...Cutler was playing, then suddenly he was not. He was sort of standing around on the sideline pouting. The injury was really not noticed at the time it occurred, so no one knew what was going on. We didn't really see him attempt to play on it and realize he was unable to. RGIII, on the other hand, clearly was deteriorating very quickly. He went from limited but still capable, to almost useless right before everyone's eyes. Everyone could tell that he was ineffective because of the injury.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 08:14 PM) I never said 5+ is the only market, but there will be one soon. Every year, Android phones get larger and larger screens. 3 years ago, it was 4 inches, 2 years ago it was 4.3. Then it was 4.5. Now it's 4.7-5. And this will keep going until users revolt, which they haven't yet since manufacturers have been able to fit these screens on devices while maintaining a similar form factor. You say 5+ inch phones have no place, but the Galaxy Note is a lot more popular than say, most Motorola or HTC phones. What I was saying is that your dream of a 4.5 inch Nexus device isn't going to happen and that is because of where the screen size trend is going. Google isn't going to downsize the screen size of their flagship phone while other devices have 5 inch 1080P screens with similar form factor. Could Google possibly make an array of Nexus phones with different sizes aimed at different markets? Perhaps and that rumor was thrown around this year, only to be proven false. And let's be frank here, there is no such thing as a 4-4.8 inch market for Android phones, it's more tiered than that. Most high-low-end Android phones end up with screens around 4 inches. The HTC One V, the Sony Xperia Sola, the Galaxy S III Mini, HTC One S, and older phones tend to be around this screen size. Then you have your mid-end phones at around 4.3 to 4.5 with the Galaxy S II, Droid RAZR, etc. All of the premium phones of the past year all have 4.7+ inch screens. HTC One X, Galaxy S III, Droid RAZR HD, Nexus 4, etc. Either they will stay at that size or they will go even higher and the trend from the past is that flagship phone screen size goes up. When will they stop? Who knows? The sales haven't really suffered with the increase. The Note is retarded big...I was at a party today and my buddy has one and had it sitting on the kitchen island and I was looking at it like, honestly, I should just bring my iPad in and put it on the island too...that thing is just too f***ing big.

How hilarious would it be if the Bears were to hire the Montreal Alouettes HC to be the next Chicago Bears' HC? Honestly, I am open to finding the next big thing in a place I wouldn't have expected, but out of Montreal? Would be too funny...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) But the TE's on this roster are the worst players in the history of football. I think he was agreeing with you.
-
The point is that he does have bad mechanics. He does try to throw too much to Marshall.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) sullivan is an interesting guy - he's largely credited for helping Eli take the next step forward in NY, and helped Josh freeman-Vjax and doug martin to have a pretty nice year this year. I still prefer McCoy probably, and Arians being 60 years old scares me a little bit. As much as anything, I think an understated issue is the question of who will these guys bring in as coordinators?? I know Emery said in his presser that if the HC isn't able to get his guy for whatever reason, that the current coaching staff could remain. I'd be fine with Marinelli staying (in fact that may be preferable), but I can't see Tice being brought back in any form My guess is Emery would be open to keeping Marinelli and Toub...Tice is going to be gone...not sure about Bates or some of the lower-level coaches.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,1841301.story Hard to disagree with much there.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:19 PM) How 'bout that Doug Martin guy? Yeah, he was outstanding...and they obviously added VJ this year too...I only saw a few Bucs games this year and I liked what I saw...but as I said, maybe zenryan can add some thoughts.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) I won't put too much into this, but...not a fan. The Tampa offense did have some moments this season...for about a 5-6 game stretch they were on quite a roll... Maybe zenryan knows a bit more about him...I know he is a Bucs fan.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) I dont think Ints are flukes, you do. I think it is a result of good positioning, smart plays, and there is a little luck involved in deflections. But you seem to think it is luck, and only luck. Luck can be one or two games. 9 years is not luck. It isn't even particularly close.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:04 PM) No arguments here. Whatever he does, he does it well. Peanut was a good defender before Lovie came in(I still remember that INT against Minnesota where he basically beasted on Moss and just took it away), but he became something else entirely within lovies system. Well, if you watch a lot of college or NFL football...you realize why so many defensive backs are defensive backs and not receivers...they can't seem to catch for s***...the Bears seem to draft or coach up their defenders in a way that other teams have not, which includes not only the ability to strip the ball, but also the ability to actually catch balls and recover fumbles. I do not go the Bears' practices, but those who do claim that the Bears' defense practices these skills very specifically. It appears as though it worked.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) Actually, I imagine it would be points scored, specifically scoring more than the other team Don't make me come to Bismarck...

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) You mean when it was Dick Jauron coaching, and not Lovie Smith? I don't get it...if you ask any NFL coach what are the largest determining factors in who wins or loses a football game, each and every one of them would list "turnovers." Lovie's teams led the NFL in takeaways over his nine year tenure in Chicago. Say what you want about Lovie's game management skills or his offenses, but the man is one of the best defensive coaches in recent NFL history, IMHO.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 10:11 AM) It's official. Andy Reid in at HC in Kansas City and Scott Pioli is out as GM. As a Chiefs fan, I'm super pumped about this. Andy Reid was the scapegoat in Philly. He's a good coach. We have the #1 pick in the draft and despite many people's perceptions, we don't have a bad team. 5 Pro Bowlers plus 2 alternates proves that the talent is present. Can't wait for the draft in April Congrats! I agree with you about the roster, and obviously Andy Reid likes it as well. Will be interesting to watch!

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) I understand what you are saying about his ideas, but i think his personnel dictates his playcalling. He wont be able to run his Nike factory out there anymore against the Converse kids. It will be interesting to see how he runs an NFL team though. I just dont know if I want to see the Bears as the guinea pig Yeah, I can understand. It's a risk I would take, but I understand others preferring other candidates.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) The only thing Chip Kelly can bring to the NFL from his offense is the up tempo, anything else would get killed. People seem to be obsessed with getting a big name coach. Sean Payton, Mike McCarthy, Mike Tomlin. All no names when they got hired. Honestly, the up-tempo thing will come and go after a few years, I'm sure....but what I like about him is his willingness to think outside the box. He consistently does things differently than the status quo, and he does it based on research and data. I love the fact that Belichick is out there finding new ways to win in today's NFL, and yes, while his innovations eventually come and go, it's the capability to discover them and the confidence to implement them that is what makes him such a great offensive mind in the NFL. I'd like to think Kelly has a lot of that in him as well.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 09:38 AM) Im really not that enamored with Kelly TBH. He seems really gimmicky, his entire offense is predicated on his athletes being so much faster than everyone else on the college level. Not many of his kids translate to the NFL. I would be happy if Emery stuck with the NFL offensive minds, and if he brought in a Gruden/Holmgren/Cowher, that would work too. Yeah, I can understand the difference of opinion on him...but I think the fact that Belichick met with him last summer and implemented the fast pace goes pretty far towards whether his innovations are just gimmicks or not. It doesn't matter to me whether his kids translate to the NFL or not...it only matters whether his ideas transfer to the NFL. I think they do.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 4, 2013 -> 09:32 AM) Prepare to be dissapointed. Emery isn't even looking at (at least not yet) any of my top candidates (e.g., Holmgren & Reid). Yeah, I mean I obviously trust his judgment over my own small pittance of knowledge on the subject, but when you fire a guy because his tenure has lacked any offensive consistency, and then don't even bother to interview one of the best available offensive minds, it seems a bit odd.
-
Anyone hear anything linking the Bears to Chip Kelly? I'm going to be disappointed if we don't even interview him...

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) My total weight loss in 2012 was 38 pounds. Really happy with that. Since losing all the extra fat, I've stabilized at 203.5 for the last month or so and come in to 2013 at 202 on the dot. My goal is to maintain a weight between 195 and 205 and take the next step into really cutting into my body fat % and getting continually leaner. Congrats and keep up the great work!

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 05:02 PM) I could see Gonzalez having a huge year playing at the Cell. His road stats do scare me a bit Are there any actual legs to this rumor?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) the reason was just bizarre. Too buddy buddy with Big Ben. WTF is that, why shouldnt the OC be friends with the QB And I thought there offense last year was one of the most exciting to watch...they were developing one hell of a wr corp...then they fire Arians and bring in Haley and run this bs West Coast system that wastes all that speed they have...just mind-boggling.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 02:03 PM) I really like him. He was an outstanding OC in Pit and Indy. I don't know if he is HC material but he is an innovative offensive mind. **3,000 posts** isn't 3,000 a lock for the HOF? Oh, wait. That's hits. I think he passed the "HC material" test this season... The Steelers were on crack to fire him...
