  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) So on the field after the USC game is now code for online. Hah, their online meeting was consistent with the timeframe of that game
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:53 PM) Whose hand did he touch at the USC game when they exchanged phone numbers He's going to allow Mantei to answer that, but he's saying now that Mantei meant "met her online" when he used the verb "met."
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:52 PM) Who was he on the phone with for 8 hours a night? ND is saying some sort of woman pretending to be her, from what I understand.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Once again, why did he continue the charade if he told ND on Dec 26? He answered specific questions about her before te BCS title game. They claimed they still are not even aware of that interview!
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:47 PM) I suppose his father could have been in on the cover-up of this epic troll of his son, playing along to cover for this embarrassment. I suppose he maybe didn't want to tell his dad she never made it?
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:42 PM) Swarbrick just explained that there were times she was supposed to go to Hawaii but something always came up and she never made it there. You are honestly believing this nonsense?
  7. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:17 PM) If he's gay and ND knows it, I do respect them going down with the ship until Te'o comes out. I just hope ND didnt force him into making this story up. We'll probably never know that though. This is just crazy Edit: by that I mean the situation, not your assertions.
  8. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 08:06 PM) no but we dont know if there were rumors around ND and he was trying to silence them. So he couldn't have a few ladies leaving his room in the morning or something? I must admit, you guys are right...this is the obvious answer...
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) He's gay. But that presumes he's covering up his homosexuality, which, as of today, has not been any kind of story, has it?
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 06:53 PM) @realfreemancbs Theory about why Manti did what he did has reached NFL team circles and if true absolutely explains his actions. @realfreemancbs If this theory is true, Manti would end up being one of the most important stories in history. I have no idea what that could be.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 06:52 PM) And I look forwards to more stories about how important his faith is in driving him and his quest for truth. I'm not defending him...just speculating on what actually happened. I think he's quite the loser, to be honest. But maybe he isn't...did this attention, despite the negative attention he is receiving today, earn him millions of dollars he might have not earned otherwise?
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 06:41 PM) He lived at home when she supposedly visited him. It's just so stupid. And the original story he told reporters was that they met n person at the USC game. Now he was scammed by someone he never saw. What I'm saying is that he made up those stories because he was embarrassed to admit he had never met her and that she was just an online relationship. People do this sort of thing all the time, especially before the advent of facebook, and the proliferation of sharing photos and the like on the internet.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) He and his family were in on it. His dad said she flew out to hang out with him in Hawaii a few times. Yeah, but there is a difference between him roping his dad into this AFTER he realized he was a schmuck and had been exaggerating about his online girlfriend to everyone (perhaps he actually never met her, but made those parts up because he didn't want to admit that she was just an "online" relationship), or if he and his family deliberately set out to create this hoax from the beginning. I'm not sure which to believe.
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 05:46 PM) http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...apparently-hoax 1) If Manti was in on the hoax, why would he voluntarily tell ND three weeks before Deadspin got the story? 2) ND's reputation is a lot bigger than Manti. They aren't sticking their neck out for him if they aren't pretty sure he wasn't in on it. I am sure Deadspin has been sitting on this for a while and many people involved were aware of it. You don't think as they are contacting people for the story, they don't tell Mantei?
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 05:39 PM) Well if Te'o was clever he would have said that he lied about meeting her because he was ashamed of admitting to having an online girlfriend. Exactly.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 05:35 PM) Met her several times per his quotes. Yet now he was scammed. Ya, super innocent. So do we think he really was talking to a girl via the internet and possibly the phone, and exaggerated her into a real girlfriend? Or do we think he was in on this all along?
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 03:22 PM) Thanks for the head's up. Any particular set of theirs you'd recommend? And are they relatively easy to adjust? I got a set off of Craigslist about two years ago...I think I paid $150 or so. Depends on how much you generally lift. I have the classic series 50 + set, which basically allows you to lift between 5 and 50 pounds per hand and is expandable to 90 pounds I believe. They are very well-made, very durable, and are quickly adjustable if you are doing a fast-paced workout. I highly recommend.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) I just...what a dick move to claim you are staying, reassure your players, and then say " nope, i'm taking it". Ugh. And then he got a whiff of some penalties and ran for the hills!
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) @mortreport Chip Kelly is the new coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, according to league sources. No announcement yet.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 08:19 PM) The Bears need to get a point where special teams doesn't come close to out-scoring offense. Hopefully we're headed in said direction. I don't think the way to do that though is to decrease the points the Special Teams' scores
  21. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) This is so, so, so wrong. This is so wrong. You really think it's better to make a bad move than to make no move at all? That's how guys like Juan Pierre end up making $12m/year in his mid-30's. Because teams decided it was "time to spend" rather than deciding on what was worth money. That's how the Marlins end up spending a bajillion dollars on one star and two solid regulars and still suck. Should we sign Kyle Lohse to a 4 year deal coming off his fluky career year because he's the best SP left on the market? There's definitely a good chance he'd make our rotation better next year. To be fair, Lohse was pretty solid in 2011 as well.
  22. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) haha right? i really do love when people say that home workouts are bulls***. I had my brother (who was talking s***) try Core Synergistics from P90X and he died halfway through. Would love to see him attempt Insanity. lol There is one particular workout in P90X2 that is pretty balls to the wall...I believe it is called Base + Back...it's a combination of plyo and pullups...pretty brutal...probably the toughest P90X workout I have done thus far.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) That entire quote is just...out there. WTF That quote makes me think of Steve Young dancing with Miss Lippy. Steve Young is a very bright, articulate guy. I thought it was a very accurate analogy.
