QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 08:48 PM) No, I think Mellon wanted to sever ties with it so he wouldn't be under investigation. I can't remember exactly what was said, but I think that was at least alluded to. I figured when he made the arrangement with Nucky he was going to continue to get paid while Nucky ran it...

Yeah, I followed all that...I just assumed Mellon would have wanted his ownership of the distillery to continue so he could make money off it under Nucky's direction? Perhaps getting Rothstein was enough for him to forget about that?

As for Boardwalk...what exactly went on with the distillery in PA? How exactly did we get from Nucky taking it over for Andrew Mellon to Mellon telling Esther Randolph that Nucky told him Arnold Rothstein was illegally running it? Nucky just told Mellon that Rothstein had taken it over? Or this was a plan they hatched all along?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) My issue with it - and it's a common complaint with most History channel specials like this - is that they throw in awful commentators. Why the hell is Brian Williams telling me about the greatness of the human race? Or some writer who wrote a book about fighting? Or Donald Trump (in the Men Who Built America series)? These specials have such good production values I'd much rather they fill that talking time with professors and scientists who aren't just spewing out a bunch of BS. Or Michael Strahan Honestly, I like Brian Williams though...the Donald Trump one, yes, that is lame. I do think Brolin does a nice job as narrator.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 12:26 PM) paging Roger Goodell. paging Roger Goodell. Please pick up your balls at the lost and found Additionally, please open up wide so we can shove them down your throat.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) Even if they can't reach a deal, they will franchise him without a doubt. Especially considering the $ they have invested in Mr. Manning...
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 12:18 PM) How bad could your calf get hurt in warmups? Geez Robbie Makes you wonder if he hurt it more kicking those extra points.
  8. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 11:39 AM) I remember last season when Bears fans wanted us to throw a ton of money at Mario Williams Or Nmandi Asomghua, remember him? Mario Williams has been playing a lot better of late...that Bills defense was terrible early, but has been very respectable of late.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 11:34 AM) Yeah, I don't get it. They should do it just to appease the fanbase. They are a large market team that has done a s***ty job of roster management and isn't very close to competing. Suddenly, a Cy Young winner falls in your lap, he's a great story, and fun to watch to pitch. It's not like he's asking for a potentially cripping Johan-type extension. I dunno...but if they won't do it, it sure as heck is going to scare off everyone else a bit.
  10. I'd have a hard time believing the big impact bat we are having to make corresponding moves for is LoMo. Has to be a reasonably high salary guy with some history of f***ups in his recent past or a big mouth. Ellsbury comes to mind a bit, but I can't see the Red Sox moving him now that they've got all that cash off their books.
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 12:52 AM) What's the reasonable Christmas gift dollar amount for a girl that you've been with for 4 months? Depends on how much money you make, my friend...and what you guys normally do for dates and dinners and what not... I am in the same boat as you, except I have the double whammy...her bday is Christmas Eve...yikes. We both make decent money, but I have no clue what she is planning on spending on me. I am thinking maybe two gifts (because one gift for both would be cruel , a couple hundred bucks each.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 12:16 AM) BTW, as of today I am *officially* a full-time employee with benefits and all that jazz. Congrats Wite!
  13. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) It's really amazing how much better this offense looked under Mike Martz with less talent. And even more amazing how fervently most of the Bears fans wanted Martz gone and Tice to take over the reigns, me included. Grass is greener syndrome. Yeah, I have missed Martz the last couple games. Problem is, we cannot protect well enough to run Martz's offense either. I love the deep in routes, but those require 4-5 seconds and we usually can only give Cutler 3-4.
  14. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) Cutler's mechanics were really horrible yesterday. There were a couple of throws he made from his back foot even though he had a pocket and could've stepped into the throw. You can't blame him too much, he has a horrible O line and is probably shell shocked. He made some bad decisions, made some bad throws, had two TDs dropped and made a few nice passes. My only hope vs Green Bay is that it's not a nationally televised night game... I agree...he was throwing a terrible ball at the beginning of the game...then again at the end...a lot of underthrown balls he usually completes with ease.
  15. Saw Flight last night...wow
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 09:06 AM) That's what I mean by blow it up. Firing the coaching staff and bringing in new people who will probably run a different system, which could make current veteran players expendable. As long as Lovie has been around with his defensive scheme, changing that would be blowing it up IMO. It isn't as if every coaching staff wouldn't love to have Julius Peppers though...I see a lot more places to address first before Peppers.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) Im not complaining about the defense. I complained about nick roach, thats all. First quarter. I also complained about the offense, particularly Jeffery and Hester dropping the two would be game tying touchdowns. I said this too So please, stop nitpicking my posts. Oh, so it's just me nitpicking...got it
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) I did say first quarter. And if you watch the 52 yard run, it happens because Roach gets blown up by I believe Loadholt, and then AP took off and Conte took a really bad angle. Geno Hayes was fine. I didnt hear his name much but he did have a nice tackle for loss that I remember. LOL thats kind of funny. 100 yards for the rest of the game is still awesome. For AP? He ran for 210 last week and averaged 150 a game in November. I don't know what you expect against the best running back of this generation. Regardless, the defense gave up 7 f***ing points. Again, you seem to want to complain the most about the normal things that happen in NFL football games instead of those that actually cost us the game.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 06:45 PM) Dont forget Nick Roach. He was the personal highway for the AP Truck for the first quarter You guys are being a bit harsh...he had a 52 yard run first play from scrimmage and then had 100 yards for the rest of th game. I thought he made Conte his b**** a hell of a lot more than Roach. Thought Geno Hayes played fine too. Tough to blame this one on the defense. They had one very poor drive (first of the game), but played well after that. Our offense is f***ing pathetic.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) I highly, highly doubt it's precautionary. I think it is...his neck just got snapped back and they said enough for today. I'm getting tired of my teams collapsing.
  21. You call holding there but not when Jeffrey was getting held the entire route?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Lovie Smith will have 1 year on his contract after this year, so he's also up for an extension. If he doesn't make the playoffs, that's it for him. If he makes the playoff but loses in the WC round, that's an open Q. He's got to earn that extension, otherwise this is the year it's cheap to replace him. I disagree that he has to make the playoffs...can't put last year on him and the year before he had us in the Conf Championship game...even this year we really have no bad losses outside of last week, which isn't a terrible loss.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) Don't worry guys, Urlacher sucks so the MLB play can't get worse I'm assuming you are being facetious...Roach has played just fine today. The only thing Urlacher would be doing today is watching AP run by him.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 09:15 AM) Alshon Jeffery and Hester return. Hopefully Alshon lasts longer than 1 game At this point, I am hoping he lasts this entire game.
