  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) Our O line just does not generate enough push for me to confidently say that at any point that they should go for it on a 4th and inches situation. It is what it is, you have to know that your personnel isnt good enough at this point of the year. It wasnt THE determining factor, but the Seahawks defense fed off of that. And yeah, there is plenty of crap that we could peruse through and wonder "WHY THE HELL WAS THAT CALLED?". For example, not one but two draw plays with 3rd and long when Marshall was destroying their CBs. Well, they ran the ball quite well with Bush in other situations. Another thing that hurt us was when Bush came out on our last offensive drive because of an injury. Had he been able to stay in, maybe we wouldn't be having this conversation.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) My argument is that they left points on the field. What happens after those points are scored is not guaranteed to be what we saw when they were not scored. I would have taken the points. You would have run the play to get the first down. Its a difference of opinion here, there is no "FACT" because we dont know if the Bears would have tried to score. Yeah, I get that...which is exactly why I am not going to try and pretend as though it was a determining factor in the game. It was in the first quarter, I believe, or very early second. There was 3 quarters of football to be played. If we want to go through the entire game and list every play call that didn't work out or every time we didn't execute well, we could probably be here for the rest of the day. Seems a bit pointless to me to harp on that. What I referred to as "FACT" is that a 245 pound NFL back usually gains 5 inches. This is what Bush was brought in to do. It isn't as if it was 4th and 3 or 4 yards. I mean honestly, Kyyle, if you are of the opinion that you should always kick on 4th down when you have a touchdown lead, that's fine. I guess we'll just disagree on that.
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 05:40 PM) I think it was a stupid call. When you are a defense-minded team with a superstar kicker, you take the sure points. That said, I don't think Cutler is heaving the ball 50 yards downfield with 20 seconds left if the game is tied instead of the Bears being down 3. Fair enough. I don't mind people disagreeing with the call. I'm just of the opinion that it didn't change the outcome of the game. There are plenty of things I disagreed with, but usually the ones that bother me are those where the coach put the players in a position where they cannot succeed and expect a good result. Hard for me to really be upset about the 4th and inches call because they did the right thing. They ran Bush. If they would have run Forte, I would have been more angry. That being said, if they pick up the 1st down and go down and score a td, it's 14-0 and we may be on our way to rolling them like we did the Vikings last week. It was a very reasonable gamble to take.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 05:11 PM) right. In your opinion. So your argument is that we would have tried to score with 20 seconds left tied at 17?
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) Look shack, I disagree with you. No need to get all uppity about it, im not crying about anything except the fact that the bears lost, i didnt make a big deal out of the fact that Lovie didnt go for the points, I just made a mention of it. It sucks. the end. Well, I refuted your point and made it clear that it wouldn't have mattered. The end.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 04:44 PM) Beating GB cures all ills. Our play calling today made it look like our OC might be up to the task of scheming against a defense that does nothing well but blitz. As far as Rodgers goes, he can't out play what Russell Wilson did today. With his weapons, he sure can. Russell didn't do all that much until the last two drives. By that point, the Packers might have had 28 points, who knows.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) Thats your opinion, I disagree. It isnt as if Bush has been delivering when needed. One of the few sure things on this team is Gould. No, that is a fact. But if you want to cry about a call that NFL coaches make all the time in that situation, you go ahead and cry. Again, even if it is 17-17 after the Seahawk td with 20 seconds remaining after the ensuing kickoff, there is an overwhelming chance that we kneel on the ball and go to OT.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) Points were left on the field. 10 of them. The defense fell apart at the end as well. Plenty of blame to go around Yeah, but you act like going for it on 4th and 5 inches with Bush was a stupid call. It was not. At that point we had had our way with them. No reason to believe your 245 pound back can't get 5 inches. It's not as if they made that call with 6 minutes to go in the game.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 04:29 PM) We put ourselves in a position where they had to make a mistake and they didn't, for about 10 minutes. Had we done something like score more points, catch a touchdown pass, catch an easy pick, etc. we wouldn't have waited for a mistake that never happened. Once our defense was on the field for something like 20 straight plays it was all over but the crying unless they gave the ball away...and they didn't. Yeah...I'd rather gamble on another scheme after 10 straight 1st downs than lose like that. But you're right, the coin toss killed us. Why the only people who didn't know our defense was exhausted was our coaching staff is inconceivable to me. CALL A f***ING TIMEOUT
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) We should all just blame Earl Bennett for dropping a easy TD pass. No s***. That was a much bigger play than anything.
  11. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) Not bulls***, it's first quarter that puts you up 2 scores no reason to go for it. It was such a dumbs*** call even if you should have picked up the first down on the play. What on earth are you talking about? It's the first quarter...had we kicked it and given up the td we probably kneel on it at the end of the game and go into OT anyways.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 04:20 PM) Truth Oh bulls***...pick up 6 f***ing inches
  13. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) Goddam, if Wright holds on to that easy pick, this game would've been over Wright never catches those....they still let them march another 70 yards after that. And Urlacher is f***ing pathetic at this point in his career.
  14. Sometimes I just don't understand the defense we play in these situations...why are we sitting back in these deep coverages when they have a timeout and are snapping the ball from the 14?

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) You missed the part where George retired to Greece. He sold George's Gyro's to some people who recently had to close down and now it's for sale. Since its literally 5 houses away from me I went to the new business a few times and the food was terrible and the customer service was equally terrible. No small talk and the guy barely spoke english, when you're right there in front of the customers the whole time I think you should at least attempt to engage in some kinda small talk and not just stand there. Ok, well try and get a job at another restaurant then?

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 12:47 AM) For the most part thats how it was done for 36 years, good ol' George was a one man band. The cooking area is right out in front of everyone. He did have one girl work for him for a little while but for the most part it was only him, he was open 10-7 Mon-Sat. The hours would be the least of my worries, esp since I'd have a 1 minute commute. I'd probably go ahead and bring a friend/partner in to help out and then gauge whether I can handle it myself. As you know Reddy I'm a big guy and Georges Gyros has a lot to do with that lol. I've spent many a hours in there just talkin to George while I smash a delicious gyro plate and a chocolate shake that he eventually hooked up for free. Ok, this seems obvious to me...if you really have such a passion for this, why don't you try and get a job as a cook in one of these places in your neighborhood? Ask George and George's Gyros if he would give you 20 hours a week. He can train you to work in the kitchen and you can learn some of the ropes...that way you can get an idea of whether you really want to do this with your life instead of trying to own your own place with no experience.
  17. Rolling with the Bears -3, Pats -7, Steelers +7, Jags +6 and over 43, and Colts +7 today.
  18. So I was watching Mankind: The Story of All of Us, and they said that Genghis Khan raped so many women, that 1 in 200 males today is a distant relative of his. Sure enough, someone did a study and can actually make this argument. And we thought Wilt was dirty.
  19. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 1, 2012 -> 08:36 PM) So far its beyond great haha Hah, yes, way to put my foot in my mouth...Gus Johnson has creamed his pants three times in the first 5 minutes!
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 1, 2012 -> 07:23 PM) Wait. What? Right, he died of a heart attack.
  21. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 1, 2012 -> 08:14 PM) I really hope KC plays inspired football and Cam has a terrible game. I guess its cool to play Mr Hard-ass No Emotions Guy. Now you're going to take it out on Cam?
  22. Well, in Carl's defense, at least he's honest. I can say there are enough idiotic people in this world that if we stopped to care everytime another one of them kills themself or does something that results in a tragedy, we would scarcely have time to do anything else.
  23. Now we get to follow that game up with this exciting Big 10 Championship game!
