QUOTE (Baron @ May 28, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) God Rios looks like he just got called up with those swings in both his at bats. All of our hitters look that way...gotta think Moore has some extra nasty s*** today

QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) Thing is, if he keeps pumping that first pitch fastball down the plate, that's the best pitch our hitters will get to hit. I'd rather see Viciedo line out on first pitch as opposed to having someone take a protect swing on the 2 strike change-up. Yeah, Dunn seems to have the right approach

QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2012 -> 11:53 AM) The last 10 days have been about the most fun I've ever had watching the White Sox. I feel like Hawk is having that much fun as well. It's nice to see. Let's get the pitching in order here, because I doubt the 10 run outbursts are going to happen in this Rays series.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 28, 2012 -> 11:52 AM) I gave up when I realized that I could predict the plot of the next episode with fairly decent accuracy. Yeah, the plot has been predictable...that is probably the biggest beef the critics have with it...but it's been so well-done, and I absolutely love the 50's and 60's time period...at least the way it's been re-presented to us in the last few years...I always hated the 50's and early 60's in history, because it was always presented as this squeaky-clean era in America...now I'm incredibly fascinated by it.

Rays vs White Sox 2:10 CST
QUOTE (Jake @ May 28, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) The real trouble IMO is if you lose today with the "good" lineup, it increases the pressure to win tomorrow. It's kind of a circular argument to always play the starters when you value each game. I'm okay with at least waiting for the historic offensive surge to slow down before giving other guys a day out there. At this point, who wants to sit any of our outfielders? Does O-Dog need a day off after all the time off he had before coming to us? Alexei/Gordon never take days off. AJ always gets days off. That just leaves Paulie and Dunn, who get "sort of" rest via DH. Yeah, I agree...you don't sit anyone in the midst of this run, as far as I am concerned. Secondly, we're a very young team at the positions that actually require a lot of running and athleticism...you don't want to sit Rios/Beckham/Alexei/Tank right now...I guess I could have seen sitting De Aza today against Moore and giving Lilibridge the start, but other than that, roll with it baby.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 25, 2012 -> 11:58 AM) Lol, Midge. I keep thinking it's Mitch. Anyways, yes, terrible scenes. I also can't believe that they didn't come up with a decent way for Linden/Holder to get into the casino....except for Holder to try, almost die, then reenter the casino as if nothing happened. All while Linden "sneaks" (so easy to do in a casino!) into an elevator that for some reason is still going to an empty floor (yes, even though she had a key, it makes no sense that if someone is murdered up there that they would change the key and/or make the 10th floor totally off limits by elevator). And then the bigger shocker of all - she gets caught! Didn't see that coming... Ugh. It almost seems as though they make it up from week to week...I agree, pretty f***ing bad...I think Holder is the only character I even give a s*** about...how many times can they actually make Linden leave her kid in some s***box hotel? And why the heck doesn't she just rent a house or something already? And yet here we all are still watching... I didn't know Rubicon was cancelled...that's too bad...

Jeff "Mickey" DA MANto is freaking amazing
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2012 -> 11:18 PM) We would be better off next year with a robotic hitting coach, video and computer simulations. Then we can answer the question once and for all about the value of a human hitting coach. Even in Atlanta, Walker has an assistant hitting coach in Scott "Scooter" Fletcher who's spending as much time, if not more, with their young hitters. And apparently their two approaches are very, very different. So can we realistically ascertain which one as actually had the bigger impact? Oh no s***? Good for Scotty. I don't know how much of an affect the hitting coach has, because I have never been a professional hitter...all I know is there is a paid, full-time position at the MLB level entitled "hitting coach," and one would think part of the job description would include "provide the best possible atmosphere for Major League hitters to succeed." Manto seems to be doing well so far.

You're KW, what next?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) You also have to consider the fact that the real market value of this team has jumped to the $750-900 million range from $600 million, based on the Dodgers' deal and the explosion in national/regional broadcasting fees all around baseball. While our own agreements aren't going to net us huge amounts of money anytime soon (see Texas Rangers), we do have a significant ownership share in the sports network of one of the 3 biggest media markets in the US, and that is also exponentially increasing in value each and every day. This kind of reminds me of the housing crisis...should they take out a team equity loan?
