QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 11:48 PM) Barring a shocker, Bears will be playing the winner of the New Orleans vs Philly playoff game. Yeah, we're going to play the winner of the Eagles-Packers/Giants/Bucs game most likely.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) Soooo, any of you guys take my advice on using Webb as a flex player? 195 Yds 0 Int - 31 Yds rush 1 TD Not to steal your thunder Jer, but SexiAlexei beat you to the punch here... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=2304528

One would think the Packers' fans would be happy about this Eagles' loss as well, but apparently they are too stubborn to.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) The beauty is...the organization has NOT responded. The guy who was fired from the organization for being a (insert profane word I don't want to type) last year, who happens to know everything behind the scenes because of a relationship with the manager, has responded. Not officially, no, but it still does not reflect well on the organization when that sort of information continually becomes public.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) They wanted him gone because he was awful last year and because teams were going to offer him a lot more money. Behind the scenes they obviously tried to do what they could to help him, but they're not going to tolerate him turning around and ripping him. This is actually a really interesting and effective use of Oney's twitter, as a method of replying without having it be an official organizational statement. No response was even necessary. Bobby expressed disappointment with how he was utilized. That does not require any response from the organization.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) I don't think much of Oney either and think he's really going over the line here with some info. Am I wrong for loving it? I think Ozzie needs to muzzle the kid. The White Sox cannot continue to have someone with this much personal information about the players spewing it uncontrollably via Twitter. Eventually, it's going to have a major negative affect on the White Sox, including having players refusing to play for Ozzie Guillen because his son can't keep his mouth shut and respect their privacy.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) Well KW was just flat wrong as far as Frank goes. There's absolutely no reason to let the public know about whatever the heck JR had loaned Frank. I know KW has publicly said some things about Jenks recently. And I assume some more KW quotes will come very quickly. I expect it from Ozzie. As I don't think he's very intelligent. But I expect more from KW. I was under the impression that the loan stuff was already public. Didn't come out when they were talking about exercising the "diminished skills clause" in Frank's contract?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) ok, thats fine. Just regurgitating a list I have seen previously. No need to get your panties in a bunch, lol Another name I didnt have on my list was Mangini in Cleveland. He has done better than expected this year, but he just isnt Holmgrens guy Yeah, a lot of people think Mangini is gone. I think they should stay with him.

Team President Bill Polian had this to say: "Regardless of the outcome (of this season), we went to the Super Bowl last year and won 16 games. Regardless of what our final record is this year, Jim Caldwell has done the best coaching job of anybody in the National Football League this year to keep this team afloat given everything that's gone on. But they're believers and they have big hearts."

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) The list of coaches either fired or on the hot seat is pretty long this year Den McDaniels(fired) Dal Phillips(fired) SF Singletary(fired) Min Childress(fired) Hot seat NYG Coughlin Cin Lewis Jac Del Rio SD Turner(im including him even though he got a vote of confidence from his team president) Tex Kubiak Mia Sparano Car Foxx Ari Whisenhunt Ind Caldwell That is quite a big possibility of massive turnover this year Caldwell? His owner thinks he should win coach of the year for dealing with all the injuries he has...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) Obviously I saw it in the theaters, but I waited to watch Inception again until receiving the BluRay for Christmas... it might be even better the 2nd time you watch it since you can see the story pulling together while knowing the ending and how things play out. What a fantastic movie. Watching this tonight on blu ray. Have not seen it yet. Very excited.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 04:34 AM) I'm so confused by this, it makes no sense. I know...I guess it doesn't really matter though, unless the Ram's somehow manage to upset the 5 seed. Otherwise, the team the 1 seed is not going to be much different than the team the 2 seed plays in the divisional round. The much larger difference is between the 2 and the 3 seed. So let's go out and beat GB on Sunday afternoon. Edit: There seems to be a lot of confusion out there about this, as I have read on two Eagles-affiliated websites that Green Bay needs to beat the Bears for the Eagles as part of the scenario required for the Eagles' to secure the #1 seed. Second Edit: Gottlieb is on Mike and Mike in the morning and seemed to allude to strength of schedule as the reason the Eagles would get the #1 seed ahead of us. Maybe there are a different set of criteria for the #1 seed versus the #2 seed for some reason.

Just finished watching Blood Diamond...seen it 4 or 5 times now and never get tired of that movie. I'm not a big Leo fan but I think that's his best role. I think that movie is probably one of the top 10 of the decade.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 02:23 AM) Since the board is dead, I have a question off his post. It seems Sox fans throughout the years point to a certain game that killed our season when we know there are so many games in a season that one game probably truthfully doesn't mean squat. I want to ask you all: Are you of the opinion one or two games, like the ones Bobby blew vs. the Twins, sent the Twins on their winning run and doomed us? If so ... then why don't the times we have a walkoff or some dramatic win, and we've had them in seasons since the WS season, do those dramatic wins not propel us to the title? I think Sox fans make too big a deal out of one or two games sending us down the s***ter. Like in our WS season. We were going to hell in September but righted the ship and still won the division. Unfortunately Bobby's role is a very high-profile role and it can be a bit of a thankless one at that. Because of the nature and timing of it, the success of the closer had a huge impact on the team when he fails. Certainly other players had failures that cost the team wins, and while I'm not sure they are remembered quite as vividly, they certainly might have had just as large of an impact on the team.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) Link My guess is they could probably find scientific evidence that almost anything in our food supply could be unsafe to eat. Not that this isn't a legitimate concern, but I just sort of don't even want to know the laundry list of things they will come up with.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 01:20 AM) ESPN's booth has been consistently terrible since they got MNF. Remember Kornheiser? The MNF booth has been bad regardless of what network it was on since the trio of Michaels, Gifford and Dierdorf was broken up.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 01:13 AM) Oh, my bad. Trent Dilfer While they may have more to play for, it's certainly not much. I just hope our guys realize that. I can understand if he likes the Packers better than us; it's a debatable question.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 01:06 AM) This just MOMENTS ago on ESPN, and this is an exact quote: "I am all over the Packers. Aaron Rodgers running the show, I think they're just a better team than the Chicago Bears and more to play for." Who said this?

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 01:02 AM) ATL gets NFC #1 with: - ATL win vs. Carolina OR - NO loss vs. TB + CHI loss at GB + 1 PHL loss (vs. Min or Dallas) NO gets NFC #1 with: - NO win vs. TB + ATL loss vs. Carolina PHL gets NFC #1 with: - 2 PHL wins (vs. Min and Dallas) + ATL loss vs. Carolina + NO loss vs. TB CHI gets NFC #1 with: - CHI win vs. GB + ATL loss + NO loss + 1 PHL loss I don't understand why we need Philly to lose to get that #1 seed... Edit: I don't get it, but I guess this is accurate...because I see it on the Bears website as well. We beat them head to head, we have a better conference record...I don't get it...we finish ahead of the Eagles for the #2 seed if we tie them in record, but not for the #1 seed. Weird.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 12:07 AM) My goodness, there is a CLUSTERf*** of playoff scenarios next week in the NFC. Bears vs Packers Giants vs Redskins Falcons vs Panthers Bucs vs Saints I couldn't care less about the NFC West. Yeah, but the odds of those last two changing from the current order is pretty slim if you ask me. The biggest game is clearly the Bears-Packers, as it has major implications for both teams. I guess the reason the Seattle/St Louis game was chosen for the Sunday Night game was because it was the only game the importance of which could not be affected by the outcome of any other games Sunday.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) He's pretty good. Jaws and Gruden bring down the overall quality a TON. There's no way ESPN can trot out this trio again next year. I think a lot of it stems from having a 3-man booth. I wish they would just do Tirico and a good color guy, preferably a guy like Charles Davis.

QUOTE (Real @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 11:52 PM) isn't the first tie breaker the divisional record? bears would be ahead in that category Not against teams not in your division. I believe it's head-to-head followed by best conference record. The Saints lost to the Ravens and and Browns, which would mean if they finish with 4 losses, they would have only 2 conference losses: Atlanta and Arizona. We would have 3 conference losses: Seattle, Washington, and NYG.
-
QUOTE (Real @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 11:47 PM) if Atl loses to TB next Sunday and bears beat packers, do the bears get #1 seed? The Falcons play Carolina in Atlanta. They would have to lose that game, the Bears would have to beat the Packers, and I believe the Saints would have to lose to Tampa as well.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) I still dunno. We both clearly agree OL is priority 1. After that...if I ask what move would make the biggest positive difference for the Bears...would getting a backup LB do it? Or an average D-Lineman? Or an average DB player? If I had to weight Vincent Jackson, by name, against unnamed possibly available player at any position other than OL, I don't know that there's anyone else obviously out there who would provide the Bears such a positive boost as Jackson. If you could cite me the identity of this year's version of Julius Peppers who happens to play at another position of need for the Bears, I might be more receptive. It really hurts the argument that I can hold up the actual ID of the top WR on the market and I can't compare it to the ID of a NT or a CB. Oh...well I guess I was thinking more about spending draft picks. I wouldn't want to spend a draft pick on a WR unless there was clear value there because someone had slipped. As for FA acquisitions, I can definitely see going after a guy like Jackson, but he's going to require huge dollars. If that means missing out on signing a top CB down the road, I would rather have the CB. I am tired of watching Peanut slip all over the field and Jennings and Bowman or whomever give the opposing wideout 15 yards of cushion. I'll be honest with you and admit I haven't really looked at the guys that will be FA's this year, but I am just going off the assumption that with money committed to Peppers and Cutler and many other guys, there is not a huge margin for error in terms of FA spending.
