  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Kenny might as well start the fire sale soon since it's obvious this team won't even remotely be a contender. Oh for the love of god....just quit watching already...
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) So where are those people who thought Jenks was going to be okay? No s***. I knew it was bad news when he quit drinking...
  3. When Wells first came into the league he was one of the best CFs around...then along with everything else, his game went to crap for the last 2-3 years. Looks like he's rededicated himself to working hard and his defense may have improved recently right along with his offense.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) God Hawk STFU, these pitches are strikes. That's where Steve needed to grow some balls and tell him.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) That's difficult to do since he has the 2nd most at bats per game. Yeah, another thing you have made certain to point out a billion times. How about you focus your energies on Ramon Castro?
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Did they ever show Beckham's check swing? No, they don't show the replays where the umpire was actually correct.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) Dude just put me on ignore for the game threads. It'll save you some stress since for some reason you've singled me out in the sea of pessimism. I've not singled you out at all. I've gone on rant after rant after rant at all of you bipolar pregnant women in here. Maybe you should put Gordo on ignore?
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) If over and over = twice then yeah. Twice every game. For the last 3 weeks.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Sorry Hawk. He's doing a swell job. No, he's not. He sucks. But we all see that. He knows it. The kid is throwing his helmet in the dugout, throwing his gum for Christ's sakes. Swearing like Carlos Quentin all the sudden. What more do you want? You just keep repeating the same mantra over and over and over. It gets really tiring.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) 8 LOB. Terrible. I think if you keep repeating the same things every at bat maybe Ozzie will eventually get the point.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Maybe some crow paella. I think DA should head over to Kenny's house as well...
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 8, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) I still don't understand what's stopping Kenny from DFA'ing Nix. Probably the fact that Omar is 43.
  13. Hard to blame the guy or his agent. He had a solid year for us last year, and he was just trying to parlay it into his nest egg. The market is undervaluing a lot of veterans to an incredible tune the last few seasons; he is just one example.
  14. It's INCREDIBLY f***ing easy to take shots at our FO when you make judgments based on hindsight and you use a small sample size. I can only imagine had we dealt Konerko somehow this offseason what the reaction around here would be...
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) You really don't think that Pods has improved his hitting ability by altering his swing and approach? You could see it last year, as he was driving the ball much better than he did in 2005. I absolutely do. I was advocating giving the guy a 2/$10 deal back in freaking July. But he's still ultimately a .750-770 OPS outfielder who is an average defender with a poor arm and a terrible base runner. He's not someone who's loss we should be blaming the problems of this offense on. As you so eloquently stated earlier, the failure of this team stems from the failure of so many of its key components over the same prolonged period of time. Had we re-signed Scotty and never made the trade for Juan Pierre, I would surmise that our offense would still be in the same dismal shape. And our SP would still be underperforming just as badly.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) I'm sure Pierre will have plenty of 3 run homers this season. Oh my goodness. Pods hits a homer once every 90 at bats for his career. That is such a low-rate that it is ridiculous to even consider that as a positive attribute for him. Honestly, is this what it has come to? We're going to complain about the HUGE power gap between Pierre and Podsednik? For his career, Podsednik slugs at a .010 higher rate that Pierre.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) If we can't vent and whine after a piss poor performance in here than what's the point of having a message board? Oh, by all means, vent. But as a person who uses sarcasm quite liberally, when you want to constantly say something negative, sometimes it's far less-annoying to just say what you mean. Your use of sarcasm involves constantly taking shots at others instead of just statinig the obvious.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) He also is a much better hitter now. He was great with RISP last season. There is not enough evidence to suggest that. He suddenly learned to hit at the age of 32? I love Pods as much as anyone, but he's simply not Rod Carew all the sudden....he'll come back down to earth...
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) Average and steals might be similar, but Pods will have a ton more extra base hits and RBIs. Oh give me a break. Dude had 25 RBI in 2005. It's certainly no guarantee that he will keep up a pace anything like this.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) Thank goodness he keeps all of the pressure off the players. See how wonderfully they respond with all the pressure focused on him. Jesus Christ Sqwert, I love your sense of humor, but let. it. go.
  21. QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:47 PM) Get Orlando Hudson. Get Matsui or Johnny Damon, Keep Pods instead of Pierre. Jim Thome. Those moves alone would make us a significantly better offense. Even better if you believe that hte other hitters would be better with good hitters around. And all of those moves were easily doable. EASILY. Matsui basically has the same numbers as Q. Pods and Thome I will give you, I was advocating for their return myself. However, at least half of fans seemed to want them gone. Damon has played well this year, but at $8 million he's not earning his paycheck. Pierre will likely end up with very similar numbers to Pods anyways, so I am not going to lose sleep over that one. In my mind, Kenny's biggest mistake was trusting Ozzie with letting Thome walk. I know the offense has been piss poor, but this game doesn't look ANY different than several last year that did feature a lineup Podsednik and Thome.
  22. Let it all out, fellas! Vent! Damn Kenny! Damn Ozzie! Damn everyone to White Sox hell! Seriously, fellas, put yourself in KW's position. What the hell would you suggest he do? Think about it rationally and reasonably....what would suggest he do?
  23. Anyone think that we would consider Santos as a possible starter, long-term? He's starting to remind me of a RH Francisco Liriano circa 2006...
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) We have the least productive #2 hitter in the league. He's putting up pitcher numbers. Along with the least productive #1, #6. #7, #8, #9....
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Ely just K'd Fielder on a nasty 2 seam 90 mph fastball I actually liked Ely a lot...I was sad to see him being part of that deal.
