QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Getz was a below-average 2b last year. I don't know if the numbers have shifted, and if he's improved, but he was very poor last year. Especially compared to Jayson Nix. Oh boy, not this again....

Somehow Gavin and Hochevar have both thrown 63 pitches through 4 innings now. That has to be a record for 8 hits given up.

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) I don't think even the biggest Pierre haters (myself included) thought he'd ht .200 forever. I dunno...there were people here calling him a complete bust...as if that was all he was capable of. I don't think anyone thinks he's the league MVP, but he does bring some skills to the table.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) You didn't hear that Alex Rios kid that was born the other day was with jphat's ex? That would make more sense to me at this point...

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) Lets not start sucking each others dicks just yet. It's not like he's hitting like Ted Williams all of a sudden. No one ever expected him to. But when you make a judgment based on one month instead of 8 years, you tend to be wrong.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) I never said it did make it right, I was just saying that he's been around forever and it's like he went bizzarro jphat. I don't mind people being pessimistic. You are one of my favorite posters. But annoying is annoying, whether it's by constantly just focusing on the positives or constantly focusing on the negatives. Or just ZEROING in on Alex Rios.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) Juan being productive in these 2 games vs KC. Well you knew he couldn't possibly be as bad as he's been, right?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) jphat in 2005 would b**** every single time a line drive was hit by the Sox at the defender. He would say every time "we can't catch a break". So that somehow entitles him to makes us all sick with his commentary about the SAME f***ING PLAYER OVER AND OVER? I don't care what you used to post...if you're going to repeat the same negative s*** over and over again, people are going to get annoyed by it and call your ass out.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) Boston really is in a PR hole with David Ortiz...in terms of biting the bullet and releasing him (talk about upsetting the fanbase, he's more beloved by Red Sox fans than the relationship between a city and a team outside of Albert Pujols) or hoping for him to get one more hot streak from that bat. Fans have quickly turned against Epstein, much moreso than we have in Chicago against KW, and he gave them TWO WS rings. Is that really true? Boston fans are fairly intelligent as far as baseball fans go...they have to realize how terrible he's been...they really would be upset if the team let Ortiz walk?

QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) Well of course everyone remembers those!! If D. Jeter made the catch that he did in the 9th inning, we would have never seen the end of it. I still don't think I've ever been as angry in my life as when Ozzie let Hermanson pitch in Game 3 in the 8th inning. Probably lost 8 years of my life that night...but it was worth it! I want to punch everyone that says they are a Sox fan and went to bed before that game was over. I had met up with my first love that night for the first time in probably 5 years and she was trying to distract me with her evil womanly sexual powers...let's just say I watched that game in a different way than is the norm for me....but I did not miss one out!

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) I'll always remember the 2 plays Uribe made to end the clinching game of the world series. Two plays where I feel he might have been the only SS in the game that could have made both of those plays. Ahem.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) shack. Just checked, FOY yoga is 48 min. I could prob send you the file somehow. I'll take a look at it on youtube. I'm pretty happy with staring at Audra in the regular yoga routine though...

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 3, 2010 -> 10:13 PM) How did his CS look on TV? He looked safe from my perspective at the game. He would have been safe had he gone in headfirst and slid towards the back of the bag...

QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 3, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) LOL. I've been here for 6 f***ing years. Don't pull that s***. RIIIIOOOOOSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
iamshack replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Now that's more like it! -
I'd be shopping the hell out of Greinke right now too. His value will never be higher. And by the time they are any good to where he can actually make a difference for them, he will be walking via FA.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) Another thing that might be worth considering... Are the Royals ruining careers by rushing kids to the big leagues too quickly? Gordon dominated the minor leagues. He certainly wasn't rushed. But now that I think about this more, and read that blog that Lillian posted...man, what an idiot Dayton Moore is. Chris Getz is never going to be what Alex Gordon is capable of being. You're not going to win s*** this year. So why the hell do you care if Chris Getz hits even .50 points higher than Gordon if you are effectively ruining Gordon's chances of ever fulfilling his potential in a Royals uniform by sending him down? "The Plan" is a f***ing disaster.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 3, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) Alright so I am back to doing yoga, but I am using the yoga on one on one with Tony Horton. Its much more tolerable. Is it? Interesting...I have a few One on One's that have come in the mail that I haven't even opened yet. Just took down Chest & Back again today...really been struggling to stay in the routine after going through the initial 90 days...but then you see yourself start to shrink and it's like, aww, f***...I better get moving here. I will say that it is amazing that the few days I have worked out since I finished the program have probably been the three best days I have felt physically and mentally. Putting yourself through this sort of effort really gets that serotonin pumping in a way nothing else does...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 3, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) I'm not quite sure what exactly a "Justin Beiber" is, but apparently there's one throwing out the first pitch at the Cell tonight. You know you are a huge fan.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2010 -> 12:59 PM) So maybe we should move out of BIRM, haha? Actually, if you had AA "padded" stats for players like Allen or Viciedo, Morel or Danks, that were like Albuquerque or Charlotte...well, scouts know to adjust for park factors and not just read stats on the net. Well, it can work both ways. You would think Birmingham would have the same affect on our pitchers as Wichita, North Arkansas, and Omaha might have had on the Royals' hitters.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) They can't be giving up on this kid already... There is either something wrong with him, or this is a ploy of some sort. And on a side note, how does KC not get more trashing for their player development? Year after year we hear about all of this talent in their system, and no one really ever lives up to it. Greinke and Soria are the only ones really. Especially their position players just seem to fall apart. Part of the reason, I think it has been speculated, is that their AA and AAA affiliates have been bandboxes over the last several years. Wichita was a famously hitter-friendly park, and it was inflating statistics and guys were getting hyped up beyond what their abilities were.
-
I think they would avoid dealing him to us, and their should be plenty of other teams interested, because on the oft chance the guy fulfills some of his enormous potential, their fans aren't going to want it rubbed in their faces for 19 games every season. If they move him, they'll move him outside of the division.
-
QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 3, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) Royals sent Alex Gordon down today...boy, I hope Gordo doesn't turn into a flop like that guy has. He was supposed to be the George Brett according to some scouts. The reason Gordon got sent down was to make room for Chris Getz coming back off the DL....how far the mighty have fallen...

QUOTE (G&T @ May 2, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) Back in the winter of 2006-2007, Rosenthal said that retooling on the fly won't work and hasn't worked historically and it would be a mistake. Here we are. He also picked us to win the World Series this year.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 2, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) It's a disgrace to logic we're even having this thread. You have to look at the big picture, Castro's a veteran with proven results on the back of his baseball card, he's got a decent-sized contract, Lucy was close to being DFA'ed at different points over the last 2 seasons. He wasn't even a starter for most of his career at Stanford. Castro, you can make a case that he could get hot and carry a team offensively as a DH for a week or two and also can spell AJ more reliably with his veteran experience and repoire with our staff. Lucy hasn't built up that knowledge-base at the major league level, not even close. What is it with you and the back of the baseball card nonsense lately?
