QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 1, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Slightly offtopic, in this case who is picktoclick AJ or Andruw? I gotta give it to AJ. That was a huge, huge hit...even though Andruw's counted just as much as AJ's.

Where's Tito? It seems like this is becoming a pattern with him...

QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Jermaine did admit last year that Rios joining the team hurt him mentally. And is thankfully no longer on this roster.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) With regards to moving then around in the lineup. EX: Carlos can't DH because he'll "stew" or Rios can't lead off because he may revert to last year. Just 2 of many excuses I keep hearing around here for not mixing things up. Yeah, those are coming from us though...our speculation is irrelevant for the most part. I'm glad the egos in that dugout aren't as fragile as the posters in this game thread seem to think....we are the ones that s*** our pants when we give up the lead...they've been battling back themselves a lot lately...
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) No kidding. I've never seen a lineup full of so many fragile egos. Fragile egos? They've been fighting back an awful lot lately...

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) Exactly. He's got 21 walks already this season alone. He's basically the low average, high OBP version of Teahen. I would still LOVE him here (hence the sig) Kelly Johnson? Were you calling for us to sign him too? I thought I was the only one...
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) As long as he pulls out, eh? Actually, if you're going to go that far you may as well knock yourself out...
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) My love life with him is none of your business. That's some sick s*** there
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:35 PM) Are you watching the game today? No, stuck at work. Watching it online and following the comments of you goofs!
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Wow, Nick Johnson at .138. He would have fit right in to this line up. The sick thing is he is hitting .138 with like a .382 OBP

QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Beckham has no confidence today, which is surprising after his last few games. A trend I noticed last year with him is that when he struck out in his first AB, he seemed to struggle the rest of the game. Seems like his Ks come in bunches. Which shouldn't be the case, because he is a kid that takes things in stride. But you're right...he is ultra lost right now.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) How long are we stuck with Pierre's contract? another 700 days or so
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) God damn, I left when it was 5-1 to pick up my dogs from the groomers and now it's 7-6?! The hell... Well don't go leaving now to get a mani/pedi...we need you mojo, apparently

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) We've made it to the 8th with the lead. Yay!!! Please get some insurance runs...I don't think I can stomach Jenks with anything less than a 2-3 run lead against the Yankees. Yeah, that is what is staying in the back of my mind...regardless of getting out of the 7th...and hopefully the 8th...I am still going to be massively uncomfortable in the 9th...

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) Which is no different from how KW has acted until he's made a concerted effort his year NOT to get upset and live and die with wins and losses on a daily basis. Except we NEED him to be that post-game buffet overturning lunatic again, as long as he thinks rationally when he calms down and makes good moves. Abraham Lincoln wanted to fire almost every general that led the Army of the Potomac until Sherman and Grant came along...he would write 100's and 100's of letters tearing their predecessors apart and relieving them of command, then throw them all in the fire. The only difference in 2010 is that we put our immediate reactions into cyberspace instead of taking a deep breath and step back. I've been upset twice since 2004, the game where I woke up and we blew the big lead late (against KC) in Sept. 2005 and the Jenks/Carlos Gomez series sweep towards the end of 2008 where it looked inevitable the season would get away. That last week of baseball was probably the most interesting I've ever seen, except for 05, because expectations were so high that year with the lead almost the entire year, running away until the Indians showed up in the 2nd half. Dude, you are comparing the Civil War and being the President of the US to you being concerned about a baseball team?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) I guess you and the other 3 members on this site with the "glass half full" outlook can post in here about this below .500 team with a top 5 payroll while everyone just stays away. Should make for compelling dialogue. I welcome CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and discussion. It doesn't have to be all shiny happy people in here. Trust me, I throw s*** and swear at my tv all the time. But some people need to learn to take deep breaths. This place has the emotional stability of a pregnant woman on a roller coaster sometimes.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) Can we just talk more about baseball and the White Sox than the posting habits of people? I'll gladly clean up my posts and keep them constructive instead of just flat out b****ing. There's good posters on here that have become nothing but reactionary to that of other people. Dude, we were talking about baseball and then all the "sky is falling" people lost their s*** again because we gave up the lead. How about we all try to have more tolerance than a 4 year old from Martha's Vineyard?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) I don't understand why someone with an obvious differing outlook or perspective on things needs to keep trying to change the perspective of others. Some people are just hardwired to be more pessimistic. Your complaining of that won't change anything. Look, this is a FAN forum. The general definition of that is a place where one goes to CHEER on his team. Not beat down others who still have some enthusiasm, unlike yourself. If I wanted that, I would go down the street to one of the casinos and play Let It Ride all day long til my bank account is empty, then stumble down to the strip club and get my ass kicked by a bouncer for trying to touch a stripper inappropriately. I do not need it here.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) Because every game offers renewed HOPE that things will change...and no game is exactly the same as any other that has happened in the history of the game. I could quote from James Earl Jones' "bleacher" speech to Annie in Field of Dreams but I'll spare myself citing it at the moment. Every game? Every day you start a thread about replacing our manager, GM, left fielder, third baseman, ss, catcher, groundskeeper, equipment manager, etc. Renewed hope?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) 1) See answer from Fathom, same exact reason. 2) I will shift more towards being excited about success from our minor league prospects and maybe the possibility that KW makes the right move again when/if he starts trading. 3) Being a White Sox fan means you have to stick with every season (well, not 2007) from beginning 'til end. Always. Are you a fan, or a masochistic voyeur? I don't understand how one can claim to be such a hardcore fan, but constantly revel in everything negative.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Exactly. I've been a Sox fan for too long (since 1970's) long enough to see the writing on the wall with this team's abysmal start. We'll hear 16-24 (83 start) and how we went on to win the division by nearly 30 games and ended at 99-63 or whatever, but that's NOT HAPPENING THIS YEAR. And yet you come back every morning to remind us that. Seriously, what is your issue? Why is it that some of you absolutely seem to thrive when this baseball team is playing like horses***?
-
It's 6-5. Linebrink sucks. It sucks that we blew the lead. But get some sack, men (and Melissa). The game isn't over yet. You guys are all acting like a bunch of crybaby pansies.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) I disagree. I think Ozzie has already lost this team. This one game won't make much difference either way. If you truly believe that, then why are you bothering to torture yourself (like the rest of us)?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) But then with a split, you risk the wild pitch or PB. Santos would be my pick, clearly, Pena 2nd. But Pena went yesterday....one hit away from "goodbye pitching your a-- off for the win Danksie." This type of loss could really be the death blow in the early season psyche of this club. Have to get this one, it's simple...anything else is a disaster. Jesus Christ dude...you are like the f***ing Grim Reaper.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 1, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) I've got the lineup in my sig. The problem is Teahan hasn't really hit much yet. He's just been taking free passes. I worry that hitting second he would actually have to swing and then not only would his OBP drop, but his BA as well.
