  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 09:27 AM) The question you're dancing around is...assuming the Bulls have missed on Anthony, what player could they feasibly get that fills your requirements, and would that actually make them competitive for the title in the east? Hard for me to see the answer to the 2nd of those being yes for just about any random solid but unspectacular shooting SF. You're right, but I dunno, what's the point of throwing money at a guy you know won't really help much. I guess getting Boozer out of here is a big plus.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 09:26 AM) I still can't believe Parsons got 15 million a year. I heard on the radio this morning that he was under contract with Houston for 900k for another year. THEY allowed him to become a restricted FA. And now they're either going to lose him or pay him 14-15 million/year. What a dumb ass move.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:12 AM) I hate that stupid crystal ball thing. Usually one guy has info and the rest just flip after the most recent visit. Yeah, but at least there's a point system where guys who make the picks early get more credit than guys that change their prediction after the writing is on the wall. Some of those guys, like Meyer, seem to be pretty good at their jobs. At some point Groce is going to land some big recruits (he is already recruiting well IMO, but even better in the future). There's no doubt in my mind. In less than 2 years he's been in the "finals" of more 5* guys than I can remember in the last 10 years. He clearly connects with the recruits and their families and once Illinois starts being nationally ranked consistently they'll start rolling in. I think this year he gets his stud PG in Evans to go with Crosby and Williams. Maybe he grabs Thomas too. That, to me, is a helluva class for a program that hasn't won s*** in 8-9 years. Bragg sounds like a pipe dream, but at least we're being considered.
  4. My issue with Gasol is you still don't have a scorer. Ok great, you have a good passer, but who is he passing it to? You know in the 4th Taj will be on the floor. So you have what, Noah, Taj, Gasol, Butler, Rose? Again, who is shooting the open shot? And really that line-up makes no sense if you're playing against a smaller team. Noah and Gasol are slow. So more realistically you're getting Gasol as a back-up/2nd unit guy. Which I guess is fine, but in the playoffs those guys don't really play THAT much. IMO Butler needs to go (or needs to become a back-up) and we need a better shooting guard/small forward. That is the key. Then hope Rose is Rose, Noah is Noah, and the new guys can contribute here and there and the offense becomes more of a unit than individuals.
  5. Also, let's not forget this guy "forgot" the kid was there, but at some point in the day came back and put stuff in his car. There's no reason he wouldn't have seen the kid at that point.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:56 AM) I also hate this one. "He's not processing the grief over his child dying and having it be his fault like I think he should". So many silly assumptions built into that. We can evaluate how a person's mind responds when they're going to be in shock. Police officers are excellent judges of emotional responses. Police officers have perfect memory of people's facial expressions. All people respond the same way to grief. IMO that entire statement is basically a waste of time. Sadly it will probably have some meaning if it ever gets to court, but it really shouldn't. Not acting the "normal" way is how they found the Boston Bombers. I agree that you shouldn't convict someone solely on that, but it should be considered when deciding whether this dad is just the dumbest person alive or that he did this all on purpose.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:43 AM) And that sums up our legal system. I agree totally. I couldn't image being falsely accused of this crime on top of losing my child. The cops put in their reports that he wasn't acting as a distraught parent should. There's more there than just Google searches. But this moron needs to go to jail regardless. I could MAYBE excuse leaving a kid in a hot car for 30 minutes, maybe an hour, and not realizing the danger. But 9 hours?
  8. We're going to dominate the regular season. w00t! Bragging rights!
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 05:59 PM) Congratulations, mavs. You are now the 5th seed (at best) in the west next year. Way too much for a guy that's not even gonna come close to putting you over the top. Houston could potentially match, which opens up Bosh to Bulls if Lebron goes to Cleveland.
  10. I thought the Bulls already told him he's getting traded or amnestied? I find it hard to believe someone out there wouldn't take a trade for him. He's a big expiring contract. A team like Philly who is going to tank again wouldn't like that?
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) Except that probably won't happen since he's staying in NY. Maybe.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) Nobody should be rooting for Kyrie/Lebron/Love that wants bulls to win a championship in next 4 years. If it means bringing Melo to the Bulls i'd be cool with it.
  13. Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 47s More I'm actually rooting for this. If that happens, Lebron is locked up for at least 4 years and Melo's FA dreams have to hinge on Durant. He's the only other superstar that will be available in the next couple years. That's if he cares about winning of course, which he does not. Keep gettin' dem checks.
  14. Still waiting on that legit source to confirm the report.
  15. Ha, I didn't even catch that.
  16. Ramona Shelburne Cover for the leak I guess?
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 03:21 PM) Perhaps, but he insisted money would have NOTHING to do with it. And if he loves NY and believes in Phil, why not take less than max? If the report is accurate, it was always about the money. I mean that's rule #1 that we all keep falling for: they always take the money. Always. Even Lebron and those guys didn't give up s***, because they MADE more money in the long run being together. This idea that professional athletes care about winning and all that is just a bunch of BS we WANT to believe. If it happens to coincide with getting paid? Sure, they'll go along. If not, no chance.
  18. He had to make it seem legit that he was looking to leave to force the Knicks to offer the max.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) Wojnarowski mentioned it, but didn't confirm. CBS Sports and ESPN are reporting it with Isola as the source. Friedell is happy as a clam. More opportunities to s*** on the Bulls for him.
  20. Howard Beck ‏@HowardBeck 2m
  21. I find it a little odd that it's been nearly 30 minutes and there's been no one else confirming the news.
  22. I mean I think it's reasonable to assume that he didn't know until today. And then he told a friend and the friend told the reporter. Although the story doesn't quote the friend saying "Melo told me he's decided on the Knicks" (officially hit the bargaining stage).
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) lol who would trade for that contract? I think it's a pretty clear sign that Melo is fine trying it for a couple years and if he doesn't like it or Phil doesn't get the FA's he wants, he'll whine his way out of town like he did in Denver.
  24. ESPN is reporting the story too, but no one else is confirming it.
  25. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) So the friend hasn't been with Melo in over a week? I believe Melo's staying in New York, but it still is weaksauce that this is the source being trusted. I think that was today?
