Isn't Mirotic like 6'10", 210lbs. I'm worried he's not going to be able to defend the big 3's and 4's.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 07:40 PM) No research. Just common sense. You think they're just gonna roll rose out there, no restrictions whatsoever, and whatever happens, happens? Yep! That's what his docs and the team docs will allow him to do. Using his knees more, especially at 26, won't increase the risk of re-injury. He either has s***ty ligaments to begin with, in which case there's no "if" but "when" the next injury occurs, or he'll be fine and these were two freak accidents.

Still, liquidated damages for what? They made $1600 off you for doing nothing, AND they already got someone to rent the place out, so it's not like they lost anything. Might be worth a look at the Chicago tenant-landlord law to see if it covers unreasonable fees/deposit requirements.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 04:11 PM) Got a job offer in Iowa. Waiting for my wife's work to clear her to work from home (she's currently based out of their offices near Chicago). If she's cleared, we're off to Iowa City! Does that alleviate the other issue?

Wouldn't the cap hit on 2 1st round picks at 16 and 19 be more expensive than just McDermott's?

Law/Legal Thread
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) Got a new event. My gf and I decided to move in together and rent a place. We filled out the application got approved. We decided before any leases were signed that we didn't want the place anymore (over the span of 2 days and they are trying to rent this place August 1st mind you, this happened last Wednesday). They basically claim they can keep the deposit since we're reneging. Mind you that no leases were signed just the application which had legal jargon up the wazoo stating that if you sign this we can keep your deposit. However, the criteria that wasn't met because the lease wasn't signed. So they charge her credit card and are refusing to give it back. I'm letting her handle it since it was her credit card but this situation just seems shady. Most places, you just fill out the application and if you're approved, you sign a lease. I've never heard of putting a deposit down to fill out an application. What do you people think? Update: They rented the unit for August 1st and are trying to charge her $408 instead of the $1679. To me that screams they are some shady f***ers. If you think you have a decent reason to contest it, report it to your credit card company. They'll usually give you the money back and then do an investigation.

I think the 2nd creator is a little overblown. The Spurs didn't have one and they beat Miami and Lebron just fine. What they had was one guy that could drive and dish and a bunch of shooters around him. That's what the Bulls are going for. And really, I think that's why Lebron decided to leave Miami - yeah he can shut down a guy like Rose (even though it's exhausting to do it), but you can't guard the pass. And when your other guys are slow and/or not good enough defensively, you can't catch up to the ball. When Wade was Wade in 2010-2012, that worked, because he was quick enough. This last year and even last year to some extent, he had no gas left to be able to cover the right areas.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) Limit mileage on Rose. Healthy Rose > McDermott, so getting a guy who can give Rose legitimate rest was kind of a priority. Im not sure McDermott will be the best scorer in the draft. There are guys like Parker and Wiggins. If those knee injuries were caused by overuse i'd agree with you, but they're weren't. Nor would the amount of mileage on his knees affect any future issue. I mean the guy plays basketball for a living, either his knees are going to hold up or they won't. And you're right, I meant shooter not scorer. He's the best guy to sit out on the wing and hit an open shot, which is what this team can generate with Rose at the PG and a couple of good passing centers.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) Even with Love, with no Rose, this team isn't winning a title. Melo was the only guy, where we could have potentially won a title without Rose (and of course Lebron) that was available. Agreed.

2014-2015 NBA thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) Right, everything on this board is "Rose" colored glasses. When I discuss sports, I like to talk about the good and the bad. So when Im talking about the Bulls, sure its fun to think Rose is going to be MVP, that McDermott can play SF and that there will be 0 injuries or problems. But what is the point? Why not discuss the real issues that will face the Bulls next year, and that is going to be both guard positions. So I think its an entirely valid line of discussion to ask, why did the Bulls not add any guards, when they added Gasol, McDermott and Mirotic. It just seems that perhaps the Bulls would have been better off if some of their off-season was spent on obtaining a guard, perhaps a combo who could have played PG/SG. Better off how? If the goal is to win a championship, with this roster, the only hope is that Rose is good again. You have to go for broke here, not plan for contingencies. If Rose is hurt again or isn't himself, it doesn't matter what player they could have drafted or signed because they're not going to win. McDermott at least gives you the best ceiling if Rose is back to form because he's the best scorer in the draft.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:44 AM) The day Rose tore his ACL they stopped being contenders until Rose proves he can play at close to MVP levels. I know that isnt well received on this board, but since that day they have made it out of the 1st round 1 time. But no one has ever said they're a title contender with no Rose or with a crappy version of Rose. All of that talk is contingent on him being back and at 85-90% minimum.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) There is just very little on the ball creativity at that position, Snell is a jump shooter, he isnt going to go iso and take people. Like I said, McDermott is fine, the Bulls just needed to add a slasher type to the mix. Oh Im just pointing out that I had nothing bad to say about McDermott as a player, just that I did not believe (and still dont) that McDermott was an ideal fit for the Bulls, let alone to trade 2 pieces for him. but once he was drafted by the bulls he might as well be Larry Bird with MJ athleticism on this board. Just hard to have a realistic discussion because the Bulls are always "Championship" contenders. At the start of every season since 2010, you don't think this has been true? In the crappy conference they play in?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:20 AM) You keep harping on McDermott. Its kind of funny because I was one of the few who talked about him BEFORE the draft. Hes a nice player, the problem is, he isnt an ideal SF and cant play SG. So you add Gasol, Mirotic and McDermott, but you still didnt add anyone who can play SF/SG and create with the ball. Its not about the player, its the fit. As I before the Bulls drafted, said that McDermott would be good on the right team. He still can be good, the Bulls just needed something else and given the additions of Gasol/Mirotic its even more clear that a SG/SG and a PG were more important. Huh? McDermott to the Bulls was no secret. It was well known they wanted to trade up to grab either him or Stauskas. And who cares if he's not ideal. He shoots the ball incredibly well. That's what's important for a team that was awful last year at shooting.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 09:42 AM) I could legitimately disagree with some of those, some of those are valid comebacks...but the bolded is on another level. Seriously, you actually wrote that without laughing? I agree you have to temper expectations based on summer league play, HOWEVER, if you watched the game there was reason for optimism. He was hitting threes off pick and rolls and off curls. He was hitting post up shots and fall aways. He was driving and hitting floaters. He got to the FT line 12 times and made all of them. And he had a decent dunk. Obviously the level of competition is down, but he was showcasing the variety of ways that he can score.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) I'm actually excited about the Bulls, obviously it all hinges on Rose ability to stay on the floor. +1. They will be a good shooting team with tons of versatility. Even though it's summer league play, the fact that Snell and McBuckets have shot the ball well is a really good sign. Snell also appears to have worked on his ball handling too. Maybe he's your back-up SG.

I've always parked and it's been just fine. Park in one of the designated lots and then take the shuttle. It's been a pretty smooth process the 5-6 times i've gone.

Using a term/word =/= "defeating" people you disagree with or actively trying to ruin their lives/careers. Hence why I still don't understand what's so funny/ironic about what Alpha has said.

A 48 win team added Rose, Gasol, Mirotic and McBuckets. Losing Melo sucks, but I think if Rose is back to being Rose this is a title contending team.

I think he was offended by the way the Bulls handled the offer. They offered him that deal and when he said no they said nice knowing you. There was no negotiation or attempt to come to an agreement. Deng's a good player, but the Bulls didn't miss him at all last year.
