  1. I'm about 8 years removed from graduating college (ugh, i'm old) and at least once a week I daydream about how awesome those 4 years were. Sigh.
  2. Try Beetlejuice.
  3. Lol, this thread is just more proof of how accepting people can really be. Jesus.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 11, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) I like Brewer, but if you cant find minutes for him against the 76ers in the playoffs, he really doesnt have much use. He was probably the 2nd best player in the last few games behind Taj though. I have no problem bringing him back. He's an anchor for the 2nd unit. Heck, I thought he played really well starting at the 2 at the beginning of this year. He's a plus defender and gets you a few put back buckets per game.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 11, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) What kind of laws do they have in Florida? What a f***ed up state. This lady gets 20 years for firing a warning shot at her abusive husband. She should have just killed him and said she was standing her ground. Seems excessive but she's shooting towards a room with her two kids in it, and she went back into the house with the gun (intending to do something with it).
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 11, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) 15 square inches is slightly larger than a 4x3 notecard. Gotta assume they mean 15"x15"x4" but that's still tiny. My conspiracy-theory-addicted brother is convinced the whole NATO summit is a fraud and that they're using these measures as an excuse to arrest thousands of people speaking out against the government/illuminati. I was going with the theory that this is a gigantic excuse for Chicago to be the benefactor of federally funded police/riot equipment.
  7. 15 square inches? That's anyone with a briefcase. This whole thing is beyond dumb. I'm taking the day off. I'm not screwing with it. They're also closing I55 to Lake Shore, my main route to work.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:39 AM) I agree with your first statement. Not sure about the 2nd. There are approximately 10 active posters in the buster. You're exaggerating a bit. sorry, by board i mean those in the buster who've been involved in the two major threads the last few days.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:17 AM) But only on that one specific issue of "how did it all start" i.e. pre-Big Bang. Your error is then expanding that to anything else. Once you take "the universe exists" as a given assumption, you don't have to worry about that. There are a lot of people who believe in God and also believe in the Big Bang and everything that comes after that. Most people on this board apparently think that's a ridiculous thing to believe.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) I threw this out there during the nashing of the teeth last night, but should the Bulls consider trading Noah to try to bring a scoring star here, and using Taj as a starter? 100% yes.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 11, 2012 -> 09:48 AM) That statement doesn't say a thing about the Big Bang or evolution or cosmology or anything else. It's a philosophical question once you get beyond a certain point in the past, at least for now. but you do see why "how can you believe something came from nothing?" isn't a convincing pro-religion argument, right? I've never contended it was a good argument in support of religion. I've always maintained that in that basic sense you're still relying on an unprovable belief, and in that sense, both sides are doing the same thing.

IMO they really need to bring in some new characters. Adam Scott and Rob Lowe, at least for a season, were great additions that spiced things up.
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 11, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) I missed this the first time around. You've made this convolution before. Cosmology (big bang) and biology (evolution) are not the same thing. Even the start of life (abiogenesis) isn't the same thing as evolution. So, no, not on equal footing. We have good evidence for the Big Bang, essentially indisputable evidence for evolution and some good working theories on abiogenesis. None of those things categorically declares "there is no god" or makes a claim on any sort of prime-mover or what came before the Big Bang. Young Earth Creationism is a silly belief that was discarded by Christian scientists who actually were curious about this stuff about two centuries ago (Lyell and Darwin). YEC makes certain predictions that can be tested, and it fails every single time. The same thing happens to actual scientific ideas like the aether theory of EM propagation. I'm not suggesting they are the same thing but they are on the same chain of events that must have happened for you and I to be here talking through the internet. You're ignoring my point -- there is no explanation for the beginning of something from nothing which eventually led to the evolution of life. Break it down and distinguish as many of the variables as you want in that chain, but that's the basic point i'm making. It's a 100% belief and theory of "x" which started the big bang and evolution. Whether those exist independently isn't my point. Edit: Whether you believe the magical man in the sky created the universe or some other dimension created energy or whatever the hell that theory is - that comes down to belief that cannot be proven or disproven.

I just don't get the P&R love anymore. Last night's finale was nothing special. That show is just spinning wheels at this point. Better to end it on a high note instead of going out like The Office - a complete mess.
  15. After some reflection, that game sucked. Thibs deserves blame for his atrocious rotation decisions the last month, and specifically in this series. How Taj doesn't start this game is beyond me. His decision to not give Taj and Asik a breather at any point in the 4th ended up being the downfall. CJ Watson, get the f*** out of town. Last year was lots of b****ing about not getting enough playing time, and this year you crap the bed. Thanks for the great game against the Heat, but that means nothing now. And Boozer. God dammit. I defended you for 90% of this season. But you are terrible. You are a waste. Is it too late to amnesty you? Two baskets. TWO f***ING baskets from you and this series is headed back to Chicago. But you suck. 118 days until the NFL season starts. What a s***ty, s***ty summer to look forward to.
  16. Ugh, this is going down to the wire
  17. Im nervous for when Taj and Asik have to take a breather
  18. Finally a good stretch of basketball. The bulls have no business losing to this s*** team, superstar out or not.
  19. Look what happens when Taj is in the game.
  20. And this is about over. When does the NFL season start?
  21. Is this a professional team? Wtf?
