  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 2, 2012 -> 02:15 PM) Reason number 1,429,392 not to have a myspace or facebook account: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/george...-180717152.html I dont really think its relevant to the case, but it just is stupid to have this type of stuff available for a Prosecutor to use against you. I'd be shocked if any of that stuff was allowed in at trial.
  2. Whelp, so much for an easy series
  3. Easily the worst quarter of the season. Just awful.
  4. Ugh, getting shown up here
  5. Nice finish to the half. jl3 and noah time
  6. Boozer will yell and make it better
  7. Weird vibe to start, but Bulls playing well. Hopefully Philly stops making so many jumpshots

Plus that thing is dangerous as hell.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 1, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) Apparently the President is hosting a campaign event in Afghanistan and has another national-address styled event scheduled for tonight, on the 1 year anniversary of the killing of Bin Laden. Good thing he's not politicizing that.

Hmm, that's crazy. All of my friends are on my side of this. Last week was just another cookie-cutter type episode with little to no funny in it.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 1, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Parks & Rec at its worst is better than any sitcom on TV. I fear COMMUNITY is getting too gimmicky. The Law and Order show was good but wish it would go back to its roots. OMG, no. No, no, no. The last episode was the worst episode since the very beginning of the series and damn near unwatchable. It was The Office after Jim and Pam got married and the whole show centered around Michael doing something stupid (1000 times over). There wasn't a single funny part - not moronic Paul Rudd (I get this is fiction, but they can't very well start off with him saying how much he wants to win the election to prove to his father that he's not worthless, and then have him ignore basic social rules like telling Leslie she really knocked it out of the park with her speech in front of the entire audience), not Andy using physical comedy for the millionth time (again, the whole idea of no money Andy/April hosting a "high dollar" donor party was dumb...if Leslie was such a meticulous planner why on earth would that happen?), not Ron doing something manly (without any funny lines in the process...the one above was ok, but nothing great. I liked the cone of meat quote from last week more), and not Ann/Chris talking for the 50th time about how they should maybe get back together. It sucks, because I love this show, but it's fallen into a rut and unless they change up something big time - like new characters - this show is lost. I don't watch it, but everyone tells me that Community is great because it doesn't stick to the typical routine. It innovates and changes to bring a fresh perspective while still being funny. This exact episode of Parks and Rec has been done about 15 times already.
  12. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 1, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) His hand looks open to me. Kind of a "GTFO of here" kind of arm-flinging push. Eh, yeah I guess I can see that.
  13. So I was checking out this highlight from last night's Mavs/OKC game. How was Perkins not thrown out? That's a pretty clear attempt at a punch. Isn't that a zero tolerance thing? http://www.nba.com/video/channels/playoffs..._okc_play2.nba/
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) Rondo gets a game. Hilarious that a slight brush against an official gets you a game, but going after a player and very nearly causing an injury (with a history of doing crazy s***) only gets you 7. David Stern, everybody!
  15. I never said they were a favorite, but except for a minority of Celtics-homers out there everyone had the Bulls in a rematch with the Heat. And i'm not talking about an actual asterisk. I'm talking about a memory that's going to stick with this season for fans that aren't just Bulls fans. Fans want to see the best teams at full strength going at it. That's not going to happen this year unless it's an epic Miami-OKC series.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) Rose isn't even going to be the MVP this year. Were the Bulls pegged as a title contender and basically a lock for a rematch in the ECF with the Heat? Yes, and now they're not. And if the Heat beat the Bulls, it's a Bulls team without their MVP and superstar. I don't care how he played this year (injuries), the fact is the Heat will win a title with little to no road blocks until the NBA Finals. That doesn't mean they aren't deserving, that doesn't mean they won't be credited with winning a title in the record books. But I'm not sure how you guys can sit here and not expect that the fans, the people that watch the league very year, won't think about Rose being knocked out in the first game of the playoffs when they think back to this season.
  17. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) People mention it with the Rockets because the GOAT took a leave of absence between winning 6 titles. Rose isn't Jordan and these Bulls aren't anything compared to those Bulls. The Heat are the reigning Eastern Conference champs. They don't need to prove they can beat a Rose-led Bulls because they already have. There will be no asterisk if Miami wins the title. Apparently I'm not the only one that thinks this:
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) The year-long ESPN tour of GOAT talk about LeBron and his dick being sucked by every media outlet everywhere if he actually didn't choke in the big games this year would ensure that no random hypothetical asterisk you speak of would matter. Players get hurt. That's sports. It sucks. It doesn't mean the titles count any less. This year, it just means that Chicago is pissed. Who cares about the media? Will you, or anyone else on this board, or any average fan, not remember this as a season where a gigantic injury changed the course of the playoffs? This isn't the Clippers losing Billups. It's the #1 overall seed losing its superstar. That's a significant and memorable event.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:12 PM) Even the shortened season won't really be an asterisk, nobody says the Spurs didn't deserve their title. It's not about whether they DESERVED it, but yes people absolutely do mention it (or more importantly, remember it) just like they do with the '94 rockets. Lebron winning in a shortened season plagued with injuries to 2 superstars in Howard and Rose will always be remembered. There will be an unofficial asterisk next to it.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 08:07 PM) I'd be rooting for the arena to explode My friends and I always talk about rooting for "The Meteor" when you hate both teams in a given game. Recent examples: the Giants/Pats Superbowl and the Kansas/Kentucky championship game
  21. Here's a positive - if the Heat win there's a huge asterisk on the title. The memory of Lebron winning a title will quickly be followed up by everyone saying "well yeah, but the Bulls were the best team and lost Rose, so that was probably the easiest path to a title ever."

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) I feel like this season has been interesting, and I will continue to watch because no use stopping now. But I feel like so much stuff in season 1 is completely irrelevant now, I almost can't remember any of it, and I don't think I need to do so. There's so many characters now it's ridiculous. Hopefully when it's solved we can piece stuff back together and the show will turn up genius. But I know there's no guarantee that happens, I'm just hoping. What isn't applicable? The show is just a showcase of various events in these characters' lives. There's really not a plot like Breaking Bad or Lost or something like that. In fact, that's what is so amazing about the writing of the show - you have absolutely no idea what's coming week to week. None. And yet you still want to tune in to see what happens next.
  23. It'll be made even worse if the Bulls pull off a miracle and get to the Finals without him. Hopefully this is nothing more than a set back. Even without the burst, Rose played brilliantly at times this year, including on Saturday. If he can get a near triple double with a bum ankle and about 80-85% health, i'll take a little less explosiveness because of this knee injury. And really we still don't know yet. Jamal Crawford and Ron Harper both said they came back just as strong if not stronger. Obviously neither have the athleticism Rose has, but still. By all indications the recovery is what you put into it, and Rose seems to be the type to put 110% into everything basketball related.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) Mad Men has really, really hit it's groove. Poor Sally grew up really quick. Last night might have been the tipping point for me with "The Killing". It's apparent they are just planning on introducing more and more bs and more and more characters that have had zero weight on the show thus far, while also pointing to different characters as the killer and building up huge evidence as to why it was said character before squashing it again. I think it's pretty clear the killer is going to come out of nowhere, and I feel like everything I've watched leading up to each moment is of zero consequence, because they seem to just be throwing darts at the mystery dartboard. Agreed on Mad Men. Another good episode. I really love that Roger is becoming more and more involved in the show. Getting a BJ at that awards dinner was pretty impressive. As far as The Killing, I was sort of half watching, half playing on my phone, but it looked to me like they were circling back to characters that were introduced in the beginning of season 1 - the indian chief that runs the casino, the Twilight-looking ex-boyfriend, etc. And who didn't see Mitch getting robbed coming from a mile away? Dumb. Her whole storyline this season makes zero sense. Did anyone catch the name of the father? Is that someone already in the show?
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 08:00 AM) Or, we place limits on Alcohol and arrest people for misusing it. I think that you've just made a great comparison. Legalized concealed carry laws are just like legalizing DUI. There already are restrictions with guns - who can buy them, when they can buy them, how they can keep them, etc. There are laws/penalties in place for your improper use of a gun. And people get arrested all the time for it. It's the exact same thing as a car or alcohol. You want a blanket ban on guns and you have yet to address the question of why not put a blanket ban on alcohol or cars or anything else people can use negligently that might result in the unfortunate death of someone.
