  1. Man, this has taken over my day looking into all my options here. Anyone overclocked their stuff? Is that easy to do, i.e. can you just let a computer program handle it?
  2. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) I wasn't thrilled to find out one of those requirements is maintaining an internet connection at all times, even if you just want to play single player. I've never met an internet connection that is 100% reliable. Additionally, if there are problems on Blizzard's end of things, no one plays. Eh, I played WoW for a number of years, so i'm just going in thinking it's the same thing. I'll expect the occasional, but rare, outage. So for those that know - is there a big performance jump between AMD and Intel? I should just be looking for (1) fit with the motherboard and (2) speed right?
  3. QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 11:16 AM) Rayvonte Rice is transferring to Illinois from Drake. Averaged 16.5 PPG and 5.7 RPG as a true sophomore. Will have two years of eligibility left. He's gotta sit out a year right? Unless he gets some kind of exemption?
  4. Also, what's the best place to buy the parts? Amazon? Newegg? Other?
  5. Hmm, sounds like i'm going to have to research the BYO option. Seems like there are 100 variations of the same components though, and I don't know what's good and what's bad. And I've already got a nice 23 inch LED monitor. Just need to add a decent computer to use it!
  6. I can't believe Artest only got 7 games. That's the 1st round. What a joke of a league. Way to send a message to a repeat offender Stern. The minimum should have been 10-14. The appropriate suspension would have been the remainder of the season.
  7. What about power supply? My buddy recommended I get this graphics card: http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-6850...pd_rhf_dp_p_t_1 Looks like it requires a 500w power source. Is that a mandatory thing or just a recommended thing? I can't tell what the computer i'm looking at has http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+Desk...p;skuId=3155928 edit: looks like it's got a 300W supply.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 09:27 AM) One thing to keep in mind is that you'll need to either use a free OS like something Linux or acquire a copy of Windows, so factor that into your budget. I had a purchased copy of Windows 7 that I installed on my old netbook that I broke so I used that. Ugh, forgot about that. Yeah I might just buy a cheap i5 computer and buy a decent video card for 150 bucks and call it a day
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 09:17 AM) After watching them against Dallas, I really disagree. There was absolutely no chemistry between the 2 when they were on the court together. You could easily convince yourself that Rip was better with Rose off the court because the offense ran through Rip. I thought the same thing, but that's because Rip was looking for his shot a lot more. These guys looked great together early in the year (down in Miami), especially on the break. They just need playing time. If they can't get it together though Rip should come off the bench and lead the 2nd team offense. Throw in Brewer or Korver to start the game in his place, let the offense flow through Rose/Deng/Boozer and then the 2nd team would be led by Rip and Korver with Taj and Asik holding down the post.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 06:18 AM) It really isn't much more complex than building some ikea furniture. I just built a new desktop last month for about $500. A little less memory and storage than the machine in junks post but I didn't cheap out on the mobo or p/s. I checked that tomhardware link. If I bought all of the components of their $600 system, does it come with all the parts I need? For example, tiny little screws I need to mount the mother board to the case, wires to connect everything etc. My computer hardware installation is limited to installing some new ram and a video/sound card.....nothing crazy. Also, are all cases equal? Looks like they recommend a $30 case, but why couldn't I just take apart the one I have and use that?
  11. So, I used to be on top of this stuff back in the day, but now not so much. It's been about 6 years since my last desktop purchase and my old Gateway is becoming slower and slower and more of a pain in the ass. So what's a decent computer these days? It will be used primarily for web surfing, photo viewing (not editing), the occasional Netflix watch and the occasional game, though I'm not sure i'm interested in anything other than Diablo III and that seems to have a moderate set of requirements but nothing too drastic. I can get an i5 processor with 8gbs of ram (expandable to 16) and a 1tb hard drive for about $530 bucks at Best Buy. It has an internal graphics card, so I might have to drop a hundred or two on a new graphics card, but that seems to be a good price. Everything jumps in price 2-300 bucks when you look at the i7 stuff. Anyone have one? Is it worth the jump? Are i5's pretty fast (keeping in mind i'm stuck with a dual core 1.8ghz proc with like 3gb or ram now)? Thoughts are much appreciated.
  12. QUOTE (SnB @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) I'm closing on a house this week w/ a backyard the size of a football field. I'm pumped about it, but also a little frightened about how much work it might be. Mine isn't nearly that big, but it's still sizeable (~100x50 at least). My recommendation - stay on it. Our place was professionally landscaped (to sell) and we thought it would just come back the next year and be fine. HA. Nope. It took weekends of weeding/digging to get it back to it's former glory. It's one of those things where if you spend 15-20 minutes every few days, it'll stay clean. If not you're looking at weekend(s) of work.
  13. I put some down the last two weekends. Hopefully that solved the problem. I'm also having issues with clover. I didn't realize the weed spray took care of that. Might have to do a 2nd application.
  14. Anyone see the trailer for the new Morgon Spurlock movie "Mansome," co-produced by Jason Bates and Will Arnett? Looks pretty hilarious:
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 12:26 PM) Great Amero-centric view of the world. To them you we are the ass-backwards part of the world for letting our women run around as whores. You can't just take your world view and apply it to another culture as a logical step. That is the kind of stuff that has gotten us in trouble with the rest of the world. But that's the disconnect for me - the most basic human instinct is survival and protection of your own blood. They've completely ignored that and choose culture over family.
  16. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) Rick Santorum says hi. Lol, right. Because I could totally see Santorum ordering firefighters not to save a group of girls trapped in a burning building lest they get out into public without covering their faces.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) That s*** is fantastic, it took care of clover that I had spreading in my backyard two years ago almost instantly. Now that s*** never comes back. Once you get rid of the dandelions. FEED YOUR LAWN. FEED IT! I tried a service last year (Dr. Green) and realized it's easier and cheaper to do it myself. Use Scott's Turf Builder 2 + Weed Control. I put that s*** on my lawn a month ago and have yet to see a single weed. Yeah I ended up buying the 4 bags for the seasonal feeds and have been pretty happy with it. In reality that's all these lawn companies do - they charge you 100 bucks to do what would cost you about 20 bucks and some time/effort. Unfortunately my backyard got hit with some kind of bug, most likely grubs. So I have some awesome dead patches that need fixing. My once perfectly flat, green and weed-free yard is now patchy with holes (once you pull out the dead patches there's a big indentation an inch or so deep). Ah, home ownership.
  18. Where the hell are the fathers/brothers/uncles/other family members of these women? If my daughter ever got virgin tested by the police there would be hell to pay. What an ass-backwards part of the world.
  19. Go buy one or two of these (depending on the size of your lawn) and wait about three days. Problem solved.
  20. Jesus that's depressing.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 09:44 AM) I didn't say it was a programming mistake. Yeah, it's certainly making a profit, but it's not good television. And I understand that producing a 5-6 part series about the revolution or the Civil War or whatever is costly, but I feel like they come out with 2-3 documentaries a year, when in reality it should be like 2-3 times a month. Fill the rest of the schedule with the crap reality if you want to (i'm a sucker for Swamp People, just like Deadliest Catch was back in the day), but give me something to look forward to.
  22. Oh man, the one about the corner stone was brutally bad. Step one: Create conspiracy out of thin air about the corner stone being moved. Step two: Wild goose chase for unfounded theories. Step three: Conclude no conspiracy exists and that the corner stone is actually where it's supposed to be - underground as the corner piece to the White House. Brilliant!
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) Actually, at least Pawn Stars and American Pickers does show you a bit of history...the shows that you should be listing here are Ax Men and IRT. I won't even mention Swamp People or whatever it's called. But compared to the old documentaries they used to do, they offer very little. It looks like they're going to do a Hatfield/McCoy thing here pretty soon, i'll check that out.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 08:45 AM) Yeah, it's best for older TV series and documentaries. Luckily, that works well since we don't have cable/satellite and when we did, we watched Discovery, History etc. before those channels turned to garbage. The Netflix/Hulu/Broadcast HDTV is still working well for us. The only downside, and it is a major one, are sports. But that's what Eastern European streams are for... It infuriates me that these channels have stopped producing actual documentaries and rely almost solely on reality TV. Watching 4 annoying Las Vegas guys in a pawnshop is not an interesting way to learn about the past.

I never saw it, but the actor that played the Johnny Depp character just died last week. That's when I learned it was a TV show. Also, Tim Burton sucks, as will this movie.
