QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:43 PM) Not for my health. Haha...yea, but it was fun wasnt it?
-
Swisher back over .230...yea man, you can't control Nick, can only hope to contain him.
-
QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) let me get this straight. when Ozzie brings in a pitcher to get people out and the pitcher doesnt, it's ozzie's fault? but he doesnt get any credit when dotel induces the double play ball? Yep, that's about right. You also forgot that Ozzie is the cause of famine in West Africa and rain in Northern Virginia.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) Does anybody remember the last time we won a game comfortably? It seems forever since we have had an "easy" win. That's a good thing...seemed to work well in 2005.

Hahahaha...I love baseball.
-
I agree...that last pitch was a bad call though...still, when you're all over the place like Thornton you probably wont get the close ones.
-
This guy just walked the bases loaded. Very impressive Ricky Vaughn.
-
Just walking guys left and right....my goodness...just throw the friggin ball over the plate.

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) Right on. Maybe we could trade for him before the next inning. I'd send them Boone. We did try to trade for Masterson...last year in the Dye discussions. When I heard Kenny was going after this guy I was VERY excited, but Boston knew what they had, plus they were offering garbage for Dye and Dye is worth more than what idiot Boston was offering up.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) Why isn't he starting for them? He was earlier...don't know why he isnt.
-
Three of the top 4 hitters in Bawstons lineup are lefties...Matty stays in
-
Masterson going through this lineupe like hot knife thru butter....Id like to see him come out soon.
-
Id let Thornton go in the 7th, but who gets the 8th to setup for Jenks?
-
Bullpen time
-
I like Masterson...he's one of the 'spects Kenny tried to get for Dye last year. Boston didn't want to part with him.
-
QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) i hate everything about oc Me too...I'll be glad when he's gone. Over-rated. Another less than 2 ours, runner on third situation we failed to deliver. Come on AJP
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) Which brings us to the point that AJ should not be in the two-hole, and Alexei should be. Uribe looks ugly up there. I agree with this, except Alexei is probably where he should be given his limited experience...I TOTALLY agree with keeping the Sexy one down in the order right now, it keeps the pressure off and it gives us a GOOD hitter amidst the lower of the order knuckleheads we have down there.

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) It depends on the pitching matchup, teams involved, who the hitter is, etc. I don't think you can make a blanket statement like that. I didn't have a problem with the bunt in that situation. AJP has been really bad lately. It got us to Dye with the bases juiced and 1 out. I will take that everytime. And please direct these folks to the Red Sox next inning...EXACT SAME situation....double play. The call was a good one, the guys just didn't deliver.
-
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) Agreed completely. Quti throwing away outs. IF Dye and Quentin are so equal, what's wrong with having both getting a shot to drive in runs? 2>1 They did duh....Quentin got hit by a pitch, not intentionally walked. If the BoSox had put CQ with 4 wide ones this argument (though futile) would have had at least some modicum of merit.
-
Dang...just when I thought Swisher would really establish himself as a solid .235 hitter, he drops back to .229.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) Carlos Quentin is the best hitter in baseball since the ASB.....Dye was 3-30 coming into this game. You're right though, I'll take our chances with Dye up in those situations (not sarcasm). Fair enough.

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) I am not going to go overboard and call Getz a great 2-spot hitter when he's never had a ML at-bat. At the same time, if he can play good defense at 3B there is absolutely a position for him. I am as big a Getz fan as anyone, but I don't see third in his future. At first I see utility role, then I do believe he has a career as a ML second baseman...great eye, handles the bat well, decent glove, a little pop, some speed. I still dont see CG at third however.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) No, we took the bat out of the hands of our best player by bunting. You wouldn't see the Cardinals doing that in front of Pujols. The guy hitting behind "our best hitter" is hitting for 14 percentage points higher and only has a few less homers. It's not like it was Uribe behind Quentin there. If they had chosen to load the bases by walking Quentin, Ill take my chances with JD everytime...he just got beat there. It happens, but the call was correct...find something else to bash Ozzie about, but this isnt one of those times.

Floyd pitches over error. Is it me or do OC's errors piss you off just a little more than they should?
